Destructoid: PS4 controller prototype & devkit photo, [Up: New Photo/Info In OP]

Even better from this angle. Far more ergonomic looking! Big improvement over the DS3 imo, what looks to be slightly longer palm handles too.

looks awesome. wouldn't mind if this is what they launch with

I don't get the move-like functionality on the controller. How would that make it any more different than the six-axis. Unless of course the six axis is incapable of z-depth tracking.

Those controllers could track acceleration in X, Y, and Z, as well as orientation in terms of pitch, yaw, and roll, hence the name "SIXAXIS." Adding the LEDs and watching them with the new camera makes it possible to track absolute position as well.

That new pic looks great. I really like the combination of shiny and matte finishes. Is it February 20 yet?

I'm actually surprised that more pictures of the console and controller haven't leaked. The floodgates should have opened by now damnit.

Yo son that's fire! You should post this up in a new thread.

I wish it was more of an IR version implementation of PS Move tracking... Tracking a glowing ball leaves no room for angle or anything, which IMO removes all point. Also, tiny IR camera is far less conspicuous than a giant glowing ball.

Look at it as a way to have the Move functionality available in a "gets by" state without having to buy entirely separate hardware anymore. Incorporating it really won't inflate the base price of the DS controller and if you really want a more full fidelity Move experience, you can buy the wand controller.

Second pic makes the controller look pretty good. The touch pad in the center looks weird, but the controller itself looks more ergonomic than the DS3.

In theory, you get angle from the gyros instead.

I really like the cross shaped, slightly recessed area around d-pad and face buttons on DS, this one has the circles around both that Vita has.

Looks good on the Vita, not so good here. I hope the final controller will go back to crosses, but a more refined version with different plastics like Vita would not be that bad.

So. On the devkit there are a bunch of numbers ranging from 0-7, could the light-bar be a more convenient way of displaying which player you are? Rather than including pointless move capabilities

In this case it would be tracking a rectangular shape though so it would potentially be able to ascertain that rotation.

The new picture looks more interesting. You can their goal is to blend the touch screen into the pad. I don't know about the change to the sticks. The headphone jack is interesting too, I imagine it will only carry voice chat audio.

Giving each player a different color of light is something Move does already.

New shot of the gamepad looks awesome. But there is still several unknowns [2 mysterious "buttons", shoulder buttons, mic/speaker].

Can someone process this image and eliminate grain?

According to Swifty (?) earlier in the thread the 2 buttons are start/select

Is that a Headphone/Headset jack at the bottom?

Wonder whats the probability of being able to plug in any 3.5mm Headset in there? That would be amazing.
