I don't know if people are more pissed off of it being multiplat or it being on this gen hardware. Either way it makes sense business wise since install base is always highgest at the end of a gen.

I'm sure MS Fans are pissed about both. Personally I don't want it on current gen hardware. Give me Last of Us and then shut it all down. I'm ready to move on.

These were the last words regarding Bungie Pro. Sawnose mention's it will be coming back, in a new form, with awesome features. Also, those of us that already used it in it's past version, will get something awesome.

I forgot about that, I was just happy to use Bungie Pro!

So very glad to see people reading between the lines.

"PS3 and 360? WTF is this shit, not on next gen? F that"

The major thing people want with next-gen (improved graphics) scales significantly better than the things that wouldn't be changing based on hardware at this point in time.

Bring on Sunday's Vidoc.

Suddenly I regret not getting Bungie Pro circa Halo 3.

Too many people jumping the gun here on the console announcements. I think Its clear like someone mentioned this is a watch dogs case and won't come till one console is announced formally at least.

You're going to be really amused by the first Watch Dogs print stuff.

R.I.P. Bungie.

Creating an MMO for old consoles, not the PC and Durango and Orbis may not even be backwards compatible

ONe of the dumbest decisions I have ever seen made by a AAA developer.

One of the dumbest posts I've ever read.

It's amazing how clueless some people are in this thread.

What do you mean?
I can't say more. Go to a games retailer on Monday, assuming you're in the US.
EDIT: it's really nothing too shocking, or secret; I've just never seen anybody do this one little thing while advertising their game and so it's very amusing to me.

What are you on about? We know almost nothing of their current plans.

I have been playing MMO's for over a decade. I know the people who play them, I know the entire market.

* Nobody wants to play an MMO on old consoles. Especially considering the next-gen consoles will probably be out BEFORE Destiny.

* A majority of people who play MMO's, play PC games. That is where the MMO market is. It doesn't mean one couldn't work on console, but you are throwing away millions upon millions of dollars excluding the PC audience.

* Who is going to want to pull our their 360 and PS3 and play an MMO when the Xbox 720 and PS4 are out?

* The technical limitations on the PS3 and 360 mean it will barely be an MMO. Blizzard said themselves they highly doubt World of Warcraft, a game that came out before the 360, could run in it's current form on current consoles. DCUO barely barely registers an acceptable framerate on current consoles. Yet you are telling me a "next-gen" MMO is suppose to? This is my biggest issue. It was developed for old, garbage technology. Even if they release a version for PS4 and 720, the sheer fact it's made to run on old consoles means the game will have limitations that make it very shallow.

I hope it works out for Bungie, but I doubt it will.

Not to mention that there are 140million potential customers across PS3 and 360, and 0 potential customers across Durango and Orbis. Plus I'm sure your info will be stored on Bungie's servers, so that should go with you.

I love how people keep assuming it is an MMO.

Bungie's contract implies as much.

Edit: So, this may be releasing in 2013 after all?

More update on Next Bungie game, 'Destiny.' Its release date has been pushed back to 2014. This discredits their supposed 'leaked' contract entirely.
Nope. They clearly said Destiny game might not even make it to the original 2013 release.
Where are you pulling your infos out of?

Inside source.

Uh-oh.

This is just not true. FFXI has had large success and people are still, to this day, playing the game on their PS2s. Not everyone cares about playing MMOs using cutting-edge graphics technology. Most don't, in fact. MMOs are typically extremely scalable graphics-wise. WoW had very reserved graphics even on the day of its release. FFXIV 2.0 is getting revised to be scalable and is launching on the PS3 as well. The idea that people only want to play MMOs on the latest and greatest technology is extremely flawed.

No disagreement here. PC market is healthy, and I really think they're going to make a PC-version eventually.

Probably most people. New console sales aren't that high.

* The technical limitations on the PS3 and 360 mean it will barely be an MMO. FPS games are much more simpler than a complex RPG. That's why games like Skyrim and X - the new Wii U title - are so impressive in comparison to the dozens of FPS games that come out every month.

I hope this is nothing like Borderlands, since Borderlands is fucking garbage. Bungie, if you're going to have XP pop up on my screen when I want to be immersed in a story, let me turn it off.

Do you guys still think the next gen systems are hitting this year?

I'm seeing so many games coming out this fall for the current gen consoles... It's a little worrying.

Game companies aren't just going to abandon 77 million strong install base on 360 and the same amount on PS3.

Both consoles are still doing fine and are still doing a decent job of fighting off widescale piracy. They're going to continue to get games for a good while yet.

Going to wait for the Xbox 720 pre-order details to be released so I can play the absolute best version. Really digging that Best Buy exclusive pre-order poster, thinking about getting it framed.

I think I bought Bungie Pro, once? At least I hope I did in light of that news.

I'm definitely interested in Destiny, but I don't know how I'd feel if it's not also on next-gen consoles, or at least the PC. Just doesn't make sense to get invested in an MMO on hardware that's on the way out (or will have already been superseded) by the time the game releases.

This is also perhaps the first generational transition where cross-generation development is a viable option. John Carmack has, while not been pushing it, certainly said that he expects to see a lot of companies doing it.

Jumped in with some big assumptions there mate!

I would expect Destiny to be cross platform. Bungie can't say or show related to the future platforms until Sony and Microsoft officially announce them.

I am so hyped right now, everything sounds too good for me - maybe it's finally the perfect mix of story and multiplayer.

i'm still placing bets that this is going to be a durango launch title. probably their "killer app".

second i hear more about the next gen, pricing and release date, i'm selling all my old junk to afford it. i'm so ready for a new cycle.

And this is what worries me, I have never been interested in MMOs. I don't like multiplayer that much anyway, I'm a solo gamer primarily.
That's an understandable concern, but I imagine there is still something resembling a traditional campaign, even if it requires you to be online to track your loot, etc.

I do like what I understand of the games concept.

Humans leaving Earth vacant, and returning to find some other race of beings to have made it their home, is something I haven't heard before in science-fiction.
