Are there any mods there? The textures in the first shot look a lot better than I would expect.

Nope, that's what the game looks like. It's actually got really good visuals, it's just a steaming pile of vomitous shit in terms of gameplay.

So, what with SweetFX and most injectors being DX9 based, what happens when the new consoles come around, and developers start actually designing around DX11.1 and DX12? All of the old injectors wouldn't work with the newer games right?

SweetFX works with DX11, too. Why wouldn't it be fixed to work with 12?

St3inex, do you mind sending me your Sweetfx settings for ACM??

The one I'm using now is way too sharpened and contrasted. Yours has a really good balance.

Speaking of SweetFX, is there any way to mitigate the performance cost if all I want is color / contrast adjustments?
Well, I don't think it's a one in all in kinda thing with SFX (as in, you enable SFX, it has the same workload regardless of what you enable). I'd assume that at least, given that the ini/readme file for it mentions that there are certain effects that have a greater hit on resources than others.

Finished? Don't spoil anything, but when I played it briefly I got the impression it wasn't the sort of game you 'finish'.

I will say this, there is a sequence of events that lead to a "fade to black" moment and a retrun to the title screen. Just explore for a while and you'll start to see the way.

SweetFX is like ketchup, it fits that one game that wouldn't feel right without it ( hot dogs ), but everytime I'm in this thread ( restaurant ) and watch in horror as someone applies sweet fx ( ketchup ) to a game ( filet mignon ) that doesn't need it I die ( die ) a little inside.

I don't like that suit as much as the originals...

Just me?

Great shots though.

I agree. Especially the DS2 suits. They were amazing.

This thread is just turning into a SweetFX fest, jeez ...
I know, right? And a lot of the games that its used on, certainly didn't need it.

HAHAHA wtf

SweetFX will hopefully die a painful death.

So I take it we are hating on SweetFX this week? :P SweetFX is great when used correctly and it certainly doesnt hurt to have it as an option. I love my Sleeping Dogs config makes the game look that much more lively.

If it works and looks good what's the issue

And then we need to discuss the definition of looking good. Half-way crushed blacks and too much saturation just doesn't work for every game. Also, it's not as much SweetFX settings in here as much as it's the "OMG SHARE SETTINGS, OMG EVERYONE SWEETFX!" - Can't someone do a SweetFX thread ... But hey that's just my lowly opinion.

I agree, SweetFX is great and the best thing is that everybody can tweak any game to their taste. But if it used correctly and by correctly i don't mean those over saturated/colored/sharpness screens it can certainly make a game look better.

Testing out the new shadows in ENB for Fallouts. They're still too black but once he will let us control their blackness level they're going to make godly shots.

Well I would think most people in this thread have good or decent judgement on whether to post something that would likely be considered good looking. Hence why I posted mine.

I've only just started using Sweetfx properly (previously just using some sharpening or SMAA), and I only want to use it conservatively. Others want to go a little further than that, and that's their choice. The only person I've seen using Sweetfx in pretty much every game is Stein3x. And for the most part it's used well.

Anyways my point is, Sweetfx isn't going anywhere. And maybe a sweetfx thread would be a good idea. But people in here saying "oh ffs sweetfx" and the like really isn't anything constructive at all. Especially when one person says it then 3 or 4 people seem to tag along in that instance.

This has been bugging me for ages now. I don't often complain about it since it won't actually accomplish anything.

But I guess I look at this thread differently than many others. I like actual gameplay shots the most. With UIs and everything. You know, just to see how nice the original release can look on a high-end machine. The shots with modified lighting/camera effects are nice as a change of pace but it's everywhere now. A separate thread for modded games might work.

No but the thread has even taken a turn where people will post some shots where they are 'testing settings' expect feedback on some shitty oversaturated shots and then we need to see another pair as they dial in the settings. Then the constant "Oh share settings!" - It's quite annoying actually. I don't mind well tweaked SweetFX settings and I don't have a problem with the core idea itself, it's just all that follows in its wake annoys me and this shouldn't be the official SweetFX testing and sharing thread.

So maybe someone could do a proper thread on its own, because I'm sure it would be active, then people can share and dial in their settings there then return and post their great results here.

And just to be clear; this isn't something that has happened in the last few pages only. This has been going on for a long time now.

But then you get stuff like this, which aint half bad.
It also ain't SweetFX, lulz.

I agree with LegacyZero, I like seeing what the game will look like when I just play it, without having to spend all my time tweaking settings outside the game to make it look like what someone else thinks it should look like.

Take Skyrim, for example.. I have a shitton of mods for it, but none of them actually alter the overall look or feel of the game. High-res textures, yes, but not different textures.. it maintains the style Bethesda set down for the game. It looks the same, just better.

I know SweetFX can be used in a more subtle way, like the Conquistador said, for sharpening and SMAA. For me, sharpening isn't necessary so long as I'm rendering at native resolution (it doesn't get any sharper than per-pixel), so I can just use SMAA injector by itself, and viola. And not changing the look of the game at all.

I can't help but feel though this stuff is down to the individual.

Yeah, I was more refering to those kinds of changes in general. SweetFX and ENB in general. Those RE5 shots are a great example. RE5 wasn't meant to look like a Pixar movie :P

They are still good shots though. I dont mind it if they are posts personally, I just dont understand the appeal of doing that to a game, even if it's to remove a piss filter, that's all. Even Wanny's shots for FO3 and NV, while they look great, I just wonder why anybody would want to do that to the game.

I can't help but feel though this stuff is down to the individual.

It really is.

The SMAA part of Sweetfx is one thing but it's that constant incessant usage of the color saturation, contrast abusing, black crush inducing settings that gives that SweetFX ™ look to all and every games. As obtuse as that ketchup analogy is it does have a point, there's nothing wrong with sweetfx but using it across the spectrum on the majority of games robs them each of whatever tiny shred of individuality they may have that is mainly related to their use of color or what have you.

Keep in mind, there is a reason why people instantly recognize images that are using SweetFX, because more often than not they stick out pretty heavily.

It annoyed me when I'd see shitty use of it in Guild Wars 2 pics I used to see from that guy who got banned. Too much bloom etc. They were a fucking mess. I don't remember anyone saying anything to him though.

That dude got lambasted to hell and back for those screens. I'm surprised you didn't notice as it went as far as spawning a little Zyrystuciacerh-defence force.

Well that's because it's ENB.

If so many people have an issue with it, why not ask for a thread to be made a long time ago? Maybe a rule should be made about asking for sweetfx settings. Maybe it's best if people PM that poster instead of outright asking them via this thread.

Because it was merely a tiny snowball "a long time ago" but it has now been rolling downhill for a long time and has become a colossus.

You are kidding me right? The guy was fucking lambasted for it every single time.
