Wow, so Rico and Sev are pretty much geezers in this game?

I really don't know how to feel about that.

Hopefully we'll know what happens to those characters 30 years later. Maybe Sev was considered a Hero and became the president?
Considering Vekta is trying to "wash their sins" I think it is the opposite.
 
So does anybody know how the Hellghast are in a position to attack the ISA again?

I didn't play KZ3, but last I heard they were on the back foot :/

helghan people took refugee to Vekta, Vekta create a city for the refugee and build huge wall to separate them.

not sure if this attack is open attack from helghan government, or maybe just some helghast terrorist group that hates Vekta.
 
Some of you need to read the backstory. The first colony that colonized Helghan were humans, but you see, Helghan isn't a planet that has the same atmosphere as our Earth has - so they had to adapt. Alot of people died, they could not survive the harsh nature of Helghan, but the ones who did survive and reproduced - evolved. The offsprings had much stronger lungs and they had no problem adapting to their now homeplanet - Helghan.

Basically, Vekta was originally invaded by the ISA, so there are 'helghans' living among them I think, at least the lineage of their families and whatnot.

It's a really interesting plot that reminds me a lot of the Israel/Palestine conflict, where it's quite gray in terms of good and evil.

A new cast is definitely a welcome change. Plus this time jump can kinda wipe the slate clean.

I did like Killzone 2 Narville though. That guy was hella bad ass. Hopefully we see more of him in Killzone 4.

Btw, why didn't they call it KZ4? Maybe so they don't alienate people who didn't play KZ 1-3?

It almost seems too good, i just cant comprehend this level of detail from a production stand point. The amount of work that is going to go into making AAA next-gen games is going to be astronomical, i just dont see how they can fund this stuff without a change in their profit models.... wait a second.....
 
The people who think this is a prequel, it helps if you watch the trailer.

Also really glad we are getting a new Visari-esque character. The trailer narrator is almost undoubtedly the Helghast from the KZ3 cliff hanger.
 
Easily the best looking game I've seen so far, period. Crytek am cry. The art direction looks fantastic too. I love the design of the city and the nice mix of gritty futuristic realism and modern day architecture. I really like the idea of the basic plot... I hope it can branch out and be expanded into something that actually takes advantage of the lore and universe. I hope that the demo was later in the game so we can see how the tensions ratchet up and then boil over.

I'm very happy the cover and sliding remains. I find Killzone is one of the most enjoyable shooters gameplay wise, so I'm excited to see the same style present. Also of interest is that according to the director, you play as a Shadow Marshall which would help make sense of the part in the demo where he jumps down and stabs the dude in the neck.

That will hopefully mean there will more motion and open the doors to more open gameplay. We saw a glimpse of it in the demo, so hopefully the entire game has a lot of it.
 
Not sure if this has any significance in the game but one of the NPCs were looking at a screen that said, "Black Hand Leader Captured". I wonder who these Black Hand are.

It's probably like Haze. The writer from Haze was working for SCEE. Maybe he has polluted Killzone.

The techniques and workflow of next gen consoles (PS4/720) are different than this gen. Yes, more work will have to be done, but the streamlined architecture and liberal amount of hardware performance in these consoles will allow developers to get a lot more work done in less time.

Budgets/work time will go up, of course, as they do every gen. But nowhere near the amount fearmongers here on GAF and elsewhere were claiming.
 
So fucking sexy. You would imagine that they would keep that functionality for multiplayer. I like multi purpose weapons in multiplayer.

Hmm does this mean secondary has also been added back in. There was the automatic firing mode, then the long distance precision shot and in both firing modes you could use the scope. Hopefully this is true as I was missing the grenade secondary fire and shotgun secondary fire on the ISA/Helghast more common assualt rifles. I forget their model numbers, think it was the M82 or something
 
It's not even fair to give GG, SSM, and ND 8GB of RAM.

now every PC boy will shut up for a while and this is also a 3/4m build of KZps4

yeah, also, dev like nd already said the asset they're creating now are already beyond the current gen capabilities.
 
It is just one gun, but it has so little recoil compared to Killzone 2. It will be a graphical beast, but it doesn't look to have the satisfying, hip fire heavy gunplay.
 
don't really like the slick futuristic style, i think killzone 2 had a really distinct flavour to it aesthetically and this looks like crysis 2 or loads of other games. gameplay looked incredibly dull too but it was just a first demo and emphasized the scripted stuff.

some very pretty gifs though, it's the most next-gen game i've seen visually and that's always exciting
 
You are seriously going to tell me that this KZ 4 demo was not MUCH more impressive than Crysis 3 maxed out ?

Of course it is !! Crysis 3 on PC does not target those kind of specs, and it's completely stupid for people to have claimed that next-gen consoles shoudn't hope to match those visuals. Hahaha not only they will crush the bar set by Crytek....But they will do IT AT LAUNCH.

I mean... if this is targeting anything more than 30fps I would be very surprised.

The graphics certainly are might impressive but to be honest the gameplay feels somewhat stale. Flanking enemies (admittedly with a fuckin cool weapon) and going thru a scripted sequence isn't anything new. I wished they had showcased what they were able to accomplish with the hardware in terms of gameplay experience

They're on Vekta. Vekta has moneyz. Helghan wasn't a place with alot of money.

You don't appreciate nice architecture?
 
The only disappointing thing about this demo is that we'll be playing as the fucking ISA again. Seriously fuck those guys, Helghast for life yo!

Graphics look great and i like the new art direction, but everything else sucked.

It felt like a parody of annoying modern game design... Step off flying thing and get slowly shepherded through some security shit, oh no BIG EXPLOSION, everything is blurry and i'm dazed, awkward cover based shooting in war-torn city square, awkward stabbing, giant cinematic event that is barely even gameplay... Lord have mercy i am getting tired of this crap.

But that's what I mean. What new gameplay experiences are you hypothesizing? First, this was only a 7 minute demo, and secondly, an FPS has to play like an FPS. It's not a platformer, it's not an RPG, it's shooting, battlefield scenarios against groups of enemies, vehicular combat perhaps, etc.

Were you expecting something like Mirror's Edge?

Hopefully, but I'm betting their keeping the Killlzone 3 ADS gameplay intact.
 
I can't get excited until I find out they un-CODfy the multiplayer. I loved KZ2. Absolutely hated KZ3 because they turned it into Killzone of Duty.
 
These are clearly bullshots, no way the image quality is that good.

Did you watch the demo? It looks just like that... I don't know what resolution it ran at, but it looked leaps and bounds above anything I've seen so far. Goddamnit I can't wait.

Launch is going to ruin my wallet :(
