NVIDIA to release GeForce Titan

Yeah as a person that is getting a Titan (well hopefully if I can score one), there is a lot of threads all over that are bashing people for buying it. It happens here at times, but not as bad as other forums. For me, I know people think I am a little nuts being that I game on my 55" Sony XBR HDTV so that means 1080p at max and I currently have a GTX 690 on Water along side a 3930x overclocked to 4.8 on water as well with a ASUS Rampage IV Mobo. Even with that, there are games that I cannot max at 60fps and every option turned to it's max. Witcher 2 is a good example *uber mode* as well as Metro 2033 and a few others. I hear Crysis 3 I would not be able to max.

I am one of those gamers that wants to load a game up and put every possible option in the menu to the max and when I cannot achieve this, then I look for set ups that will allow it. I guess it just bugs me that if I can't do this that I feel that I am not playing the game at it's ultimate IQ at my resolution, so I eathier try to OC a bit more or look at new hardware (Hi Titan! :). Now for those that are going to say that all the reports are saying a Titan is slightly below a 690 so why would I go with a Titan??? Well, I am looking at 2 Titan's in SLI, so that is what I am gunning for.

I know very well that someone will say it is a waste of money or that I am insane or whatever and I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion. For me, I aim to maximize my games and will buy what I need to achieve this. To me it is just money and when I die it aint going to go with me, so I would rather buy what I want to buy and enjoy it for what it is. I work hard, I earn a great living, I plan to get married early next year and my Girlfriend likes that this is my hobby along with console gaming and home theatre versus being a heavy drinker, drug addict, drinking with the boys and getting into potential trouble.

But it is amusing how others ridicule how people spend their money. I guess I can understand if they know the person and the person is forgoing making the morgage payment or skipping a car payment to buy a new toy, but sometimes some of these guys go overboard. I love the "if you buy a Titan, you are a idiot" or "Buying a Titan is for people that want to show how big their E-peen is". lol

At the end of the day you should just buy what is best for your needs within your own specified budget. Don't listen to fools trying to put your purchases down. If you feel that a Titan is necessary for what you want and you can afford it then go for it. If you are asking for advice then people may tell you different, but its just their opinion and it is what it is.

I went through similar when I was deciding what to buy, everything from the case to what I chose to put inside it was scrutinised to the max, but you know what, I've had it for the last 2 months now and I couldn't be happier with what I've bought as it suits my needs perfectly in every way. Let the haters hate, get what will make you happy. If your happier with your setup than other people may be then your doing it right, because you are buying for you. Don't please those on the internet, please yourself.

Maybe that will be the day that Samsung finally starts selling their RAM again. :( I'm more concerned on being able to get 2 of these on release. Hopefully the RAM will go back on sale within the next week or 2 since I'll have to wait on the waterblocks from EKWB to go on sale... and I have to sleeve all my cables. :(

Tomorrow, that's when the review NDA ends and it should go on sale - According to every source I've read so far.

Well, not Tom's Hardware (link in previous page)...they're a pretty big player. Not sure why they'd have contrary info. I'll be there manana hitting up the shops...but still...

I'm so glad I got some from Amazon about a month ago before the price decided to skyrocket.

Sorry for being an idiot but I have a tri-monitor 1080p 120mhz monitor setup and sli gtx590 classifieds in my current rig.

Would I benefit from a Titan or a 690?

I've been over the thread a bunch and been visiting the normal sites but I'm dumb and cant figure this one out. Any help would be much appreciated.

I believe getting SLI Titans could be potentially better.

But dats RIDICULOUS.

Definitely do not opt for a GTX 690. I have 3x 1080p 120hz monitors as well, and I've powered them with 4-way GTX 680 2GB and 4-way GTX 680 4GB - it's not an overly pleasant experience. You want to go 3-way GTX Titan (or 2-way and upgrade later). Tri-SLI is the sweet spot and it seems NVIDIA is forcing that this round (see earlier in this thread - looks like they only support 3-way as max).

Why Dennis, he is in this very thread!

Haha...much love, bro...but there are a few of us crazies now! NVIDIA is building a new world-class office space with our $$$. ;)

The GeForce GTX TITAN GPU will be available starting on February 25, 2013 from NVIDIA's add-in card partners, including ASUS and EVGA in North America, and additional partners, including Colorful, Galaxy, Gigabyte, INNO 3D, MSI, Palit and Zotac outside the US. Partner participation will vary by region. Pricing is expected to start at $999 USD.

It's possible that pre-sales begin at 6am PST, but really, today is about showing performance and letting press post reviews.

Whew. I'll be cutting it close. I'm getting back in the states on the 24th in the evening. I'm going to have some horrendous jetlag, but I'll make sure to be awake for it's release. 9am EST.

If the reviews suck I'm just going to go with that box that has 8GB of GDDR5 and comes with secret sauce and a Jaguar.

Come on, dogg! Ya'll messing with folks sleep schedules.

I say "possible" because I don't know the specifics of any e-tailer contracts/NDAs. In one region they may be allowed to start pre-orders today on the provision that the cards aren't sent out until the 25th, and in another they may not be allowed to sell them until the 25th, period.

It's not my department unfortunately.

Well have you heard any talks of your add-in card partners limiting the sales to just 1? I really want to get two and nvidia sure is harping about SLI'ing these things. Would kind of suck if you could only get one card at a time, unless the ASUS and EVGA cards are the same exact card just different packaging. Then I could get one of each,

DAMN!!! ASUS doesn't have an online store... do they?

Nabbed from Tempered81 at anandtech forums:

Here it is at 1.2ghz and it's air cooled:

40% faster than GHz, 55% faster than a 680 and 11% slower than a 690...How is this not worth it again? $1000 doesn't sting so bad now.

It seems worth the price, but we don't know anything about partner versions yet. Cooling-wise, "vanilla" seems to be good enough, but who knows? I'm looking forward to seeing what ASUS will come up with.

Question is, WILL they make custom coolers? Did the 690 ever receive one anywhere?

Ordering blocks now should I get black and nickel or clear and nickel?

I'd say black, goes with everything.

IMO, the stock cooler is fantastic if you only want to air cool.

Also, calling it stock is so underplaying things... It's high-tech, precision engineering designed specifically for the Titan.

In other words, stock :P

No but really, the 690 and now the Titan's coolers have impressed the hell out of me. Mainly because they still 'look' like those stock coolers of old that quickly blasted towards 100* and sounded like a small airport at rush hour.

Gonna have to wait for resellers. Since my billing address doesn't match the shipping address (being in the military sucks) I have to wire money to EKWB since I'm try to get this shipped back to the states. Damn.

So if anyone sees this pop up on FrozenCPU or Performance-PCs or any other North American EKWB retailer... let me know ASAP with a PM

Clear and nickel, if you ask me.

True, the 690 didn't.

Indeed, the difference in quality is huge, I just worry about noise.

Stock 680 for comparison. I hope this kind of stock cards becomes a trend.

It is quieter than a 690, which is quieter than a 680 by some margin. db chart coming at 6am along with my article.

Edit: The Germans have me beaten:

100% load db is determined by your temp target. 90C temp target, max fan speed. 70C temp target, significantly slower fan speed.
