people still think these are bullshots??? lol

8GB RAM with awesome new tech and GG at the realm will give you that for sure. I bet it will get even better by the time the game is released.

The 1440p shots at Gamersyde? Absolutely, they are bullshots.

These are clearly bullshots, no way the image quality is that good.

Nextgen,
8GB GDDR5,
Did you watch the trailer?,
We heard the same thing with Uncharted 1..... and 2,
If that was sarcasm I'm sorry,
etc etc.

Anyway this will be a gorgeous game but my expectations for the story are looooooooooow.

This look will be my favorite thing of nextgen. With PS360 it was HD and (largely) no jaggies, now it's this clean, CGI-like image quality with DOF and everything.

I have to say that Berlin wall idea (which is pretty good for the Killzone universe) should've been a WRPG game in Killzone universe, not a pure Shooter.

I still have doubts about the part of the game shown was developed with 8GB in mind. Given how playable the segment was, it could very well be from an older code.

don't really like the slick futuristic style, i think killzone 2 had a really distinct flavour to it aesthetically and this looks like crysis 2 or loads of other games. gameplay looked incredibly dull too but it was just a first demo and emphasized the scripted stuff.

some very pretty gifs though, it's the most next-gen game i've seen visually and that's always exciting
To point it out again, the Killzone 2 aesthetics are still there, just on the Helghast side of the wall.

The game itself didn't look all that interesting but the graphics were pretty nice. Not a huge leap or anything, but nice. The textures, scope and minor details look good, but unfortunately there is still no interaction with the environment, grenades don't do damage, etc. Also the character models and animation still aren't that great.

I was really hoping for big improvements in environment interaction and animation, maybe should keep those expectations in check.

If this is anything like Killzone 2 then the progression between builds will be amazing in of itself. Seriously, it's still nearly a year away, so many things in KZ2 improved light and day in less than that time.

Just found the trailer on Gamersyde is 1080p as well. Looks like that GDDR5 is being put to good use : )

Yeah, the trailer looks to be direct buffer and it's native 1080p from what I can tell looking quickly at it.

In terms of that Knack trailer has impressed me a lot. Really an underrated trailer IMO.

It did look hugely better than previous KZ games. You should go and take a look at them on your TV again.

It looks way better than any PC game on any settings. check the last minutes

Please stop. There are comparable PC games (and I don't even like to play games on PC). What the next gen has done however, (best shown by inF: Second Sun, Agni and Deep Down) are the skin shader and lighting being taken to a whole new level from previous generation and the one game that does it as well is Crysis 3.

From last gen? :lol Pachter.

Yes.

Yes.

which PC game? It looks much better than crysis 3 and thats the only game that comes close but not quite

Still no but close

lol The last 2 minutes i thought should shut up the crysis boys forever

You're still not playing as the helgast? That's hella lame. Their side has such a rich story, while the ISF is so damn dull. Gameplay also looks more COD than Killzone.

I finished the trilogy. I'm passing on this.

Yes.
I got Crysis 3 on PC and I would say it's comparable with Killzone 3 still taking the edge. That city view is just ridiculous. The one game I'm really shocked at is the Capcom game. If that was all gameplay, then holy shit.

People thought they killed the franchise with the KZ3 ending but the story setup they have here sounds amazing. Hopefully they don't leave all that to hidden documents on their website and actually go a little more indepth in the actual game. The fact we got to see civilians and an urban setting is a very good sign.

I'm super impressed. I figure we'd see something Killzone related but only like a short teaser... this is insane. Is it really a launch/launch window title? No fucking way is it out that soon looking THAT good.

Granted, I've only watched the Facey clip on my phone, but I am utterly dumbfounded that people are saying that this doesn't look better than anything we've seen before. Crysis 3 honestly looks mediocre in comparison.

They mentioned it was a target render, which is almost always an indication for change.

We don't know that for sure. I vaguely recall Guerrilla saying one of the most frequent requests they got from fans was to be able to play as a Helghast.

I bet they'll split the campaign between both sides.

The ground textures alone are something i have never seen . totally blown away by Guerilla

It is still kind of early. When the game is near launch and nothing has changed, then it could be time to worry a bit more. I wouldn't be surprised if we see more at E3 and it'll look even better than this.

This game out of all of them has the most chance that you could be playing as a helghast. So Id say dont write it off yet.

Xbox fanboys out in full force. GG impressed me, but I know Naughty Dog will absolutely hit it out of the park.
I'm actually worried a bit that ND won't impress as much, or that they thought they wouldn't stand apart from others if they showed what they're working on. Great graphics with great art direction are their staple, but it seems like now everyone and their mother can make something hugely impressive on both fronts. I hope they can at least match the stuff we've seen so far.

It's easily possible. They've been working on this since before KZ3 came out (2011) most likely. The PS4's system architecture is 100x easier to code for than the PS3, and shit just the specs we have from the PS4 are lightyears ahead of the PS3.

There's no reason to doubt anything we saw from a closed platform with those specs, the development time, and such a talented developer like GG.

I actually think KZ3 is much more impressive technically than UC3.

Third person games allow you to hide a lot of close up detail that you notice in first person

So are the people who are hyped for this because of the graphics? Because the gameplay looks like the same old shit to me.

It's a FPS... what do you expect? It's a FPS with a cover system, not many do that, and some really awesome weapons (looks like secondary fire might be coming back) and there were things like freely jumping up and climbing walls that you'd only see in something like Mirror's Edge.

Seriously, can you name another FPS that lets you do that? Even in the old KZ games you needed some bro to help you over. So they are hinting at a little freedom in the environment.

It looks fucking amazing... and they only showed a couple mins of gameplay. It's fine if you're not hyped by it, by why the fuck do care if other people are?

Details from Killzone webpage:

Guerrilla was at the PlayStation Meeting earlier tonight to take the wraps off a brand new Killzone title for the PlayStation 4! To mark this exciting milestone, Game Director Steven ter Heide has prepared a few words.
Today we are happy we can finally show you what we have been working on.

It has been an amazing journey for us so far, being offered the opportunity to be a launch title for the new PlayStation, and the subsequent mild panic to figure out how to best handle all of that.

But being able to now share it with you is both a scary and proud moment. We are hoping you will like what we have created, and are happy to present you with the first glimpse of Killzone Shadow Fall.

The piece of live gameplay we presented at the PlayStation Meeting shows you a new world, a new situation and a new hero.

The game is set in a near future, thirty years after the events of Killzone 3. The world is a very different place; two rival factions known as the Helghast and the Vektans live side by side in a futuristic city, divided by a vast wall.

Tensions are high, and the cold war they are embroiled in is about to go hot. In the midst of this all stands a Shadow Marshal, you. The most special of the special forces, tasked with maintaining the delicate balance.

From responding to bold attacks, to quiet infiltrations or all out combat, you will be required to adapt and think on your feet as you have to face a variety of escalating events that could destroy your home world.

We are looking forward to sharing some more of the exciting events and features that we have been working on. Keep your eyes out for more news soon.

No. I'm hyped because of the gameplay and the story. Some lame plot holes aside in KZ3, there is actually some really interesting stuff going on and great antagonists. Helps if you read the backstory though, too bad they never go into detail on that in the games.

As far as gameplay, it's an FPS? What are you expecting? And as Evolved1 said, they are doing things a lot of FPS's don't. It's far from generic.

You're still not playing as the helgast? That's hella lame. Their side has such a rich story, while the ISF is so damn dull.
The moment they allow you to play as the Helghast is the moment they lose all their mystique and appeal. Part of the reason so many people like the Helghast is because the way they are portrayed, and they can't portray them the same if it's from their perspective. Did anyone actually like the Helghast board room cutscenes in KZ3?

It sounds like Earth came into the system and forced peace and the relocation of all remaining helghans. They were probably mighty pissed that the ISA went ahead with the invasion anyway when the stated goal of the fleet (and why the ISA even had those ships in the first place) was merely to contain Visari.

It makes sense that the Vektans are no longer referred to as the ISA. Vekta (at least the vektan portion) has been wholesale absorbed into Earths government again.

The gameplay didn't look all that great, but it was early.

Hmm, I wouldnt be calling Crysis 2 "horrible" in a Killzone thread.

They would if they were talking about KZ2 which is one of the best FPS's of this gen. Crytek can learn a lot about gun recoil, gun sounds, bullet impacting enemies etc.. from GG which makes this demo all the more disappointing since it does not seem to be using KZ2 as the basis for its gunplay but we shall see..

I'm getting a very Palestine conflict sense from the premise of this game. Not sure what the entire back-story is yet but perhaps the ISA, feeling guilty for nuking Helghan (albeit accidently) now grant the Helghast asylum on Vekta. Fast forward 25 yrs, add in Helghast sympathy and support by Vektan rights groups and sheer Helghan determination and we find that not only have the Helghast made Vekta there new home but they're in the process of slowly and systematically taking it over...

yes, some animations were a bit rough, might be due to the old code. But i think it looks phenomenal. The art style and dx11 effects look amazing.
