2013 High-Res PC Screenshot Thread of Let the JPEG Die Already

Okay guys, I'm doing really crazy things since I'm messing around with DSfix again.

So this image is rendered at 7680x4320 and downsampled to 3840x2160.

I probably need help because this shit is crazy.

Dont forget:
hud_hide = 1

Yeah, that scene where psycho opens up the panel to show you New New York is the reason I wasn't all that impressed with what Sony had on show. A real jaw dropping moment.

You're running two monitors on top of each other? You're a madman!

In the 4k screens the smoke and mirrors fall away pretty fucking rapidly.

And people still use 320x240 gifs to show off how 'mindblowing' a game looks. This is by no means a commentary of KZ3's visuals as it much as a reminder that any game can look great when shrunken to a size where you can barely make out any detail, let alone potential blemishes.

Or just a statement of how some art styles benefit less from being able to see more details.

HL2 looked amazing and now when I downsample it, all the cracks and blemished shout at me. Same will happen to C3 in the future when people are running screens with higher pixel counts and what-not. These games were designed with 1080p in mind. Same with KZ4.

If you're going to run 4k, you better have 4k worth of detail or it's wasted.

No, I was using Irfanview originally. It blurs the image for some reason.

Corky caught me in my noobish ways and showed me that Paint was better. And it is.

Keep in mind that I'm not sure if it's paint that sharpens or irfan that blurs. :D

After a quick test it seems paint sharpens a wee bit. You'd be better off using Irfanview, which is free, but best off using Photoshop, which isn't. That bicubic resize is some magic. If you're interested I have comparison results.
