Fuck, the only time where one can kill Rico and he´s not in the game.

30 years after KZ3 Templar's old buddy Rico will either be a General or court martialed. Both positions offer plenty opporunities for an assassin to apply bullet to head.

I want the Vektan and Helghast weapons to feel even more different than before. Vektan railgun pew-pew gun for run and gun and other weapons that are precise and fast to deploy, but weak or with small area of effect explosives. Helghan made weapons that are big, loud, take time to aim, have lots of rounds and fire fast and heavy slugs, but inaccurate, with lots of tracers and or smoke effects and highly explosive materials, collateral damage be damned.

Or he is just a washed up old dude drinking whiskey in a shitty slum apartment on the Vektan side of the wall... and playing as the Helghan assassin, one of the optional side missions is to put a bullet in his dome.

Edit: I really hope GG reads NeoGaf... if so, everyone hates Rico, let us end him.

The sacrifices for 60fps will always be pronounced. If you think of the shooters this generation that run at 60, it's basically CoD and RAGE, both hideous.

I think 30fps is fine for consoles. The gamepad is kind of a mushy interface, it's not like on PC where 30fps makes mouse look feel utterly sluggish.

There are rumours that KZ:SW was running only using approx: 1.5GB of RAM.

I'd like to think that 60fps would be possible if they have approx 7.5GB of RAM to play with for the final game.

I want to get into Killzone more. I bought the Trilogy cheap, but the first game just killed it for me. Should I skip it and go to the second game? I'm interested in Shadow Fall, and expect it to be the first game I play on my PS4, now that it's a launch title, but I'm hesitant.
I started with KZ2 as well but I did skim through a back story timeline of the universe that they used to have on their website. For whatever reason they took it down, but some fans did manage to copy all the text to a wiki, unfortunately without all the artwork that went along with it.

http://killzone.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline

In my opinion you could start at 2 and still enjoy the game, but it would be more enjoyable if you did skim through this to get a brief understanding of what's going on. Really no game in the franchise does a good job of settting up the back story for you, which is a shame because they really detailed it out (they tell you all the major events that happened starting in 2055 with World War 3 all the way through the beginning of Killzone 1 in 2357).

These new pieces of concept art (along with the artist's comment, "Hope soon there will be more pics of this dude") makes me think the game will feature dual campaigns a la Halo 2.

I haven't been following the KZ:SF threads super closely, so please forgive me if these images have already been posted and whether or not the above assumption is already old news (or debunked):

it's actually one big image, lending credence to the dual campaigns.
Snowy mountains in the background too, seems like we'll get another Icy Incursion.

Seems unlikely, you'd need to redo lots of animation work at this point. I imagine they'll improve IQ, effects, etc.

Isn't it a bit short-sighted to make animations that can't scale/use interpolation or whatever wizard's jizz makes console ports look just fine in terms of animation on PC at 60 fps?

Why would they ever need to prepare for PC ports? It'll never happen. And I disagree, often PC ports look awful in terms of animations.

Its 1.5gb vram, not 1.5gb total ram. So game wasnt designed around 1.5gb ram, but around 1.5gb vram and 2.5-3.5gb other ram, thats a big difference. Even if they have now 8gb unified, they will be using max 3-4gb for VRAM and VRAM wont affect fps in that great way.

Most animation scales up to whatever framerate. Not like the animation in this game is anything special, anyway. I can only hope most of what we saw will be scrapped, animation-wise.

I just don't think animations are designed around framerates anymore. There are points designated for the animation and the rest is interpolated. Jett is referring to the same thing.

Animations looking awful is not the same as animations being locked at 30 fps. Halo PC has an excellent demonstration of this as you can run the game at 60 fps and see the animation running at 30.

Why do you think that? just because of Killzone?

This is shaping up to be one of the best launches in a while for me. I'm really looking forward to:

Killzone
Watch Dogs
Driveclub

These would make me buy a PS4 day 1. And that's not even counting other launch games we don't know about yet.

Yeah, it seems way better than the current gen launch I would say. KZ and Watchdogs alone would be enough for me.

From the one's shown so far I'm just excited about KZ,I don't need to buy a PS4 for Watch Dogs.

True, but it never hurts to have solid games on your new console, even if they're not exclusive. And Watchdogs looks pretty solid imo.

Infamous isn't launch aligned?

If they have infamous 3 as a launch title, then I think they might already have the strongest launch lineup ever. At least of the last few gens.

I hope Knack proves everyone wrong. Everyone seems to be talking about KZ SF, Drive Club , Watch Dogs. I predict that it will be a surprise hit. If it is as good as Ratchet TOD I will be happy.

KZ4 and infamousSS aren't enough personally, i hope they have a couple more things to show at E3, then we can start talking

What's with this misplaced bitter snark?

People (including me) wanted confirmation if it was realtime or a target render or in engine pre recorded or something.
Noone said it couldn't possibly be real time (maybe one guy? so you all point your snark at one guy, ok then).

There was a GG staff playing on stage during the reveal. They got burned really hard for KZ2, so I doubt they'd go even further than that by pretending there's a guy here playing. That's Microsoft Kinect reveal stuff.

Apparently Killzone: Shadow Fall (and the rest of the real time demos) ran on a dev kit with only 1.5GB GDDR5 usable for graphics.

Incredible if true.

WTF?!?!!!!!!!!! How is this possible? Okay I know technically how, but what will the game look like apon release? And can they really retool everything to take advantage of say 6 GBs of usable graphics?

Sorry... based on the backlash, it's obvious a lot of you loved Resistance. IMO that game was a letdown (just like the rest of the PS3 launch titles). At the end of the day i enjoyed the Killzone series far more than i enjoyed the Resistance series (on the PS3)... and ultimately i'm very excited that KZSF is a PS4 launch title.

I think we are all PS4 & KZ supporters... my apologies for not liking Resistance.
