He said that Rising is selling well worldwide so far, giving him further license to do as he pleases. The man is near-untouchable at the moment, but he remains humble, piling immense praise on Platinum Games’ end-product. Should a Rising sequel happen, Kojima wants Platinum back for round two.

I'm glad Kojima thinks it's doing well enough and that the game was of good enough quality that he'd want them to do a sequel.

MGR did so many things right, surprisingly so considering it wasn't even Platinum's fullest effort on display and that they were pretty much salvaging some broken pieces. Give them a full time budget and longer dev time and they could turn something phenomenal into something perfect.

Rising 2 could be absolutely fucking mindblowing if they make some improvements. The gameplay and combat system is damn near perfect, only sometimes handicapped by an unforgivably awful camera. Have a longer story, have a better story, have more vibrant environments instead of the aggressively dull and boring backdrops that permeated all throughout the first game, and a better soundtrack beyond just a few killer boss tracks.

It was a very good game as it stands, but with some tweaks and interesting art direction and environmental design it could be amazing.

Anyway, I know that I sound like a broken record at this point, but I absolutely expect that Platinum is already gearing up for the development of Rising 2 with the game already being a pretty much sealed deal.

It would also be interesting to know if there's a chance that Platinum is doing ZoE3, considering it's a game Kojima wants to make true for a long time now. But with whatever's going on with MGS right now, I doubt that Kojima Productions is going to have any free resources for quite some time.
