Aw, she was cute. I didn't really like her in MGS4, though.
"You don't watch your n-n-nicotine intake!" *storms off*

my point exactly. so you agree.
thought i was in bizzaro world for a sec.
No it is morbid, that kind of thing is what really creeps me out about the plot of Ghost in the Shell.
and after that you're back to gleefully hacking people to tiny pieces and feasting on their spines.

I gotta say, I didn't really like Raiden's character arc in this game.
It didn't feel like he got a big redemptive moment where he realized he didn't have to be Jack the Ripper. It ultimately worked out that way, but it just sort of came and went.
Interesting, because that's not what happened in my interpretation. He accepted Jack the Ripper as part of him from what I've seen. I'm not sure what redemptive moment your talking about.
i have to agree. he accepted who he was and went with it. i think the clear sign is that he decided to never have the pain suppressors on anymore which is why you could go into Ripper mode fafter that moment. he will always be a killer and will fight for what he believes in.
And at the end, he repeats some of Armstrongs last words, indicating that he atleast is starting to resent the fact that people are fighting for things they don't believe in and lying about what they really are. I haven't played it, but it's supposedly mirrors what Gene told Big Boss in Portable Ops. If they keep going with this in the sequel, we may very well be be playing a villain protagonist in MGR2.

This. It's exactly why I want a sequel not about Gray Fox, or 10-100 years in the future, but a direct sequel with Jack The Ripper going around in his badass suit (that he Hulks out of at the end of the first chapter) and octocamo sword briefcase blowing up PMCs by the dozen.
If he had his pain inhibitors off after Monsoon, wouldn't he be screaming his head off while getting pummeled by Armstrong?
The final boss will be bladewolf and you can only win by getting him to shake your hand.
Playing on hard right off. Here I am thinking I'm pretty capable. I'm jumping missiles, deflecting bullets, destroying tanks and helicopters, and arm wrestling metal gears...
!@#$%!! I DIED IN A FIST FIGHT WITH THE SENATOR!!!
If he had his pain inhibitors off after Monsoon, wouldn't he be screaming his head off while getting pummeled by Armstrong?
Yeah? Well, don't fuck with this senator.
Who's a man and a half? This senator's a man and a half. Nanomachine-packing man and a half, son. There's nothing wrong with you I can't fix, with my hands!
Also hating on Sunny... some of you... :/

The sequel hinted at the end with Raiden going around and shutting down PMCs better fucking happen.
I just feel bad for Rose. She went through his bad drinking before, and now that he is branded a criminal, they will probably constantly have to be moving around.
I thought of Greed from Fullmetal Alchemist, who did the same thing whenever he fought (especially came to mind when Armstrong went for an armored headbutt). That said, I don't know as much about One Piece beyond its popularity, so it having something like that too is new to me.
She was kind of annoying in here, not too bad though. If they end up having that cyborg Jar-Jar Binks pairing up with her though I would be super pissed. I could deal with the Meryl and Johnny pairing, but that guy has subtitles for his subtitles.
Absolutely 100%.Was the line "Nanomachines, son" self-conscious, you think ? It was so fucking great.

Yeah, but Haki and the Nanomachines stuff is probably based an the techniques used by the shaolin. Qigong to be precisely. The visual element which stuck out to me is that instead of transforming himself completely to fight like Greed often does, the nanomachines (lol) retract almost immediately after each attack.

Well no, there wasnt supposed to be one. That honestly would have been the most trite, dull place they could have taken it. Especially considering this is something deep seated that hes been suppressing for decades.ShockingAlberto said:It didn't feel like he got a big redemptive moment where he realized he didn't have to be Jack the Ripper.
Not really. While he never goes full Ripper after Monsoon, its still very much there. You can see it right before the confrontation with Sam and during the little this isnt my sword monologue especially.ShockingAlberto said:It ultimately worked out that way, but it just sort of came and went.
Has to be. I'll accept no other interpretation. Was the line "Nanomachines, son" self-conscious, you think ? It was so fucking great.
So Kojima Productions said the original version of this game's plot was going to feature Volgin.
I still remember a Quinton Flynn tweet where he's happy about working with John Cygan and Cristina Pucelli again last year. Sunny is obviously in the game, but I don't think there's even a single Solidus sound-byte in the whole game. I wonder if he was cut...
WHAT. I've never heard of this.
Yeah, I was waiting for Solidus to show up in a flashback. I was really bummed out. I guess Flynn was talking about the promos for the game.
Also, while everybody's talking about the game's ending, have some of you what the first third of the game was about ? How was the African Prime Minister any relevant to the plot at all ? Or how about the Mistral chapter in Europe with the guy blowing himself up along with the factory ? How were these things important in regards to Armstrong's master plan ? I can't figure it out.

They mention Solidus a few times in optional codec calls. A lot of the references to those games are in the codec calls, cause I assume the old fans would be the ones checking those the most.
They killed N'Mani to instigate a wars, and he was trying to bring peace. I guess they wanted wars all over, with the new war on terror being the biggest cash cow. Er, what Mistral chapter in Europe? That was still in Africa. They said in the codec calls that he most likely blew himself up out of desperation because he was cornered, not as part of the plan. I think it was Kevin or Raiden who equated it to harakiri like samurais did. As far as I know, they were just in Africa to make sure that the government takeover was going as planned. They probably were just stationed in the oil refinery.
Either way, that shit was awesome when she got Demolition Man'd
The refinery was in Russia/Georgia IIRC.
WHAT. I've never heard of this.

Hey all, just beat the game.
Not sure if this has been mentioned, but I think I may have a crazy theory about Armstrong.
In one of the Codec calls, Raiden asks Wolf if he's heard of "Gubayama". It's a callback to MGS2, when Raiden is dealing with the Patriot A.I. GW in the Arsenal Gear. The full quote from GW is "That reminds me, I saw Gubayama the other day in Shibomnigee. He said to give you his best." Wolf says he's never heard of him, but postulates that it might be the name of a sumo wrestler.
Now, when Armstrong steps out of the Metal Gear Excelsius doesn't he make a sumo ish pose?
What I'm getting at is that Armstrong IS this "Gubayama" person that Raiden heard GW talking about.
Who else but the Patriots could have given the Nanomachines (son!) to Armstrong?
Sorry if this theory has been brought up before.
