Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | March 2013 | Carving an Independent niche

;)

Seriously, though - everyone in this thread better buy DOA5+. The game's been a dud on PS3 and 360, and it deserves to do well on at least one platform.

Let it be Vita. And hope Namco has its ears open.

A game that's been a dud but a success on the Vita would work wonders for the system, maybe. Is the game going to be 60FPS? Because MK Vita was super ugly but the FPS made it very ok.

I got Dokuro the other day, and wow. It's such a charming platformer/puzzler, well worth the $21 I paid for it!
when is it out? and will it have online play?
I'm not sure of the release date, but I'm prettysure it's got cross-platform online play between the Vita and PS3.

Not sure if this has been answered yet, but is there any way to buy Hatsune Miku Vita DLC on a US account? Gamefaqs says no, but I am not sure if they are reliable or not. I have a Japanese PS3 account...

There is a valid reason why it is a dud on both systems.

edit

And a reason why almost nobody plays it compare to other fighters. The game isn't a good fighter, but it is a decent game.

yep it's a fun fighter, not a frame-counting competition fighter, perfect for casuals like me.

why do people assume you have to count frames in fighting games? A lot of the top players don't count frames either and frame counting is still important in DOA5 as it is in other 3d fighters.

Frame counting is the biggest misconception of fighting games. it helps but its not even a large factor of how a player is better.

need urgent help
someone type this out in these same characters

I dunno, I just said I was a casual, I've seen frame-counting mentioned a lot in fighting game threads though and figured it was something the pro's did.

It bombed because it was released in the shadow of TTT2. Should've been out in July or August rather than September. Plus the now immaculate netcode was total shit at launch.

But the game itself? Fighter of the generation.

lol? Best looking and I might agree with you on that but gameplay wise lol? Who are you trying to fool? yourself?

I can name a ton of games that have better design than DOA5. No other fighter gives the opponents an advantage after they make a mistake.

thanks to the current cowboom daily deal of the black ops vita bundle for half off (135 after shipping for a used vita but no memory card) I got a friend of mine to get a vita. though he had a bit of a meltdown checking out when it said it was sold out on him >.>:

It's a great fighter and has gotten some of the biggest turnouts offline compared to any DOA before it. It's also sold well, has had continuous support from TN both in updating the game, adding content, and even supporting the offline scene via financial or being there in person.

It's also happens to be casual friendly by being easier to pick up than most fighters, especially 3D ones.

Other than SFIV, UMVC3, SCV, TTT2, KoF, etc. . . that have varous mechanisms in place that reward the loser(person who made the mistake more so) with tools and advantages.

simply one of my best experiences with the vita..dont leave it until you complete it, it has rich content and the last stages puzzles are really tough challenging in a good way! im praying for a sequel :(

I agree that TN is doing good work for the DOA fans and that it is casual friendly.

Other games do have comeback mechanics or mechanics that assist the losing player but none of it is a guess of RPS like the hold system. DOA5 did tone it down compare to doa4 and doa 3 (thank god) but I still despise the whole hold system. Its literally RPS.

The difference between that and other games is that the other player has to make a mistake for the losing player to captivate. Its not a game of RPS. Outside marvel xf system, all the other comeback mechanics rely on the winning player to make a mistake before the losing player can come back. In DOA5 its guess high/low/mid punch or mid kick, after a string at all points of the game. I'm not even talking about super high level because there are some (imo weak) counters to the hold system. At the lowest level of play the hold system greatly benefits the losing player.

This is all offtopic and we can take it to the other thread if you want. I promise I won't grapefruit it up. I will admit, DOA5 is a great sign that TN is trying to improve and not doing what they did with DOA4. I will be interested to see what they do with DOA6 and I hope they actually get a good netcode system like SC5 from the beginning. I literally lost all interest playing after the first month of the game due to the poor netcode. Hell I played DOA5 more than I played TTT2, and the only thing I regret was using the online pass.

edit

Great VITA fighter imo is SFxT if you can play it effectively since shoulder buttons are HP/HK. Otherwise I would have to go to umvc3 (but online can be barren).

All I want on the vita is P4A, and SC5 fighter wise.

I hope they make a GoW vita soon,if you think it's milked clearly you're getting old lols.

I'd like a GoW for Vita too and since it's on a new console I feel it wouldn't be milking it at all. I'm geuinely being sincere. I really enjoyed the PSP ones and would love more of the same.

What I would really want is GoW Vita to release after GoW PS4 to flesh out the new story arc.

GoW Vita would be the announcement closest to literally boring me to tears. How stale the game is isn't helped by the dozen or so identical clones.

GoW Vita would make me so excited a little bit of piss would slip out whilst I yelped in celebration. Recently replayed CoO and GoS on my Vita and they're both great. A Vita native GoW could be something special.
