One month from today: BioShock Infinite

Yeah I always try to play the game the way the developer intended at first so I can get a proper view on things. 1999 may be tougher (though I doubt it's a proper hardcore mode due to my belief that you can't make a true hardcore game out of a game designed not to be from the start) but it's not the true vision of the game.

But who is to say what the "true vision" of the game is?

I mean, Levine is obviously the driving force behind the game, but there would no doubt be people at Irrational who wrestled with issues of difficulty, balance etc trying to get things right. We won't really know where the sweet spot is until the game launches.

Most of the time "normal" should be the best way to play a game, but as we know all too well that often isn't the case. A higher difficulty can be frustrating and detract from a game, or it can make for a better experience.

For a game like Bioshock Infinite with resource management, skill specialization and (hopefully) different ways to tackle encounters, I could see relatively harsh restrictions really adding to the game.

Have we seen any console footage yet?.

I dont think we have

I thought the VGA awards trailer was Xbox? Or was it PC with Xbox Controller?

Looking back at old Elizabeth face models, I'm glad at the change. Or rather...

I kind of liked this one.

This one's face shape was kind of off and I never quite liked it... I think it's the round face/cheeks.

But then again this one
Is in the same face-era as the previous one, isn't it? Which looks loads better than the previous one.

I think this is her current face?

I'd like a mode where it deletes your save if you die. That'd be just my taste <:D

One thing I wanted to know though: Does Elizabeth's model have a slightly different art style than other characters that inhabit the world? Looking at her proportions she has that slight anime look as opposed to other NPCs that look more realistic.

I think she's been slightly modifed since then again, or at least it seems that way from the latest gameplay footage. I don't know why they went through this many face designs, but obviously there's something they're looking for from her design that's hard to nail down. Maybe they'll explain it after the game is out.

It does appear to, yes, probably to make her more distinct she looks a little different in style. Levine has said they wanted her to be eye-catching, thus why they've given her such a large, round, noticeable pair of
eyes.

They are speaking of the landing prompt/enemy highlight from when you are utilizing the skylines. There are a few minor limitations, but nothing unreasonable.

That's great news.

I don't particularly mind if access to skylines limited somewhat, my only concern (now cleared up) was that they limited access to the skylines to set pieces.

lol
But yeah, I think Levine said that the big eyes make it easier for the player to see her facial expressions from a distance.
She will comunicate a lot through gestures and facial expressions.

I can't wait to compare her with Ellie from The Last of Us, both characters are a huge challenge for the devs and comparing the end results both studios have achieved will be absolutely fascinating.

As for her character model, I think she's beautiful. The whole game looks incredibly appealing.

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks.

Is the best preorder deal for pc at green man gaming? $14 cash back. Amazon has $30 gift card for 2k games but are there any decent 2k games coming this year on pc?

^ Me too. I need some extra money.

I just meant the normal modes are what they designed the game for. 1999 mode is extra for forum people like us and I have doubts on how far it'll go because most hardcore modes are either half assed or don't go far enough.

So no MP in this, right? I'm planning on pre-ordering the game and getting the season pass too, but I'm not interested in MP content.

Like the survival stuff in fallout new vegas.

Levine says they tried it out, couldn't make it work in the game (or make it interesting, whichever) and cut it.

If game over doesn't result in a deleted save file than it didn't go far enough. <3 you Geralt!

The entire hardcore mode in new vegas fits under doesn't go far enough. Thankfully Sawyer made that mod later on down the road.

So are you buying it or are you just planning to ignorantly bitch about it post release?

You've stated The Last of Us was the next game you would purchase, but we all know how much you couldnt resist the urge of Croft.

He did buy Tomb Raider after all...

New Vegas hardcore + Very hard was a very good start for the game. With a game like that I think Obisidan anticipated the fans would take care of this rest relatively quickly. Sawyer's mod was a great addition, but by the time It came out Project Nevada was already out and you could tweak the entire game to whatever difficulty you wanted.

I don't even have last of us preordered yet. I paid this game off weeks ago. I don't know why you think I'm offended by this game's existence like I was with Tomb Raider, I already told you I got over the massive dumbing down with Bioshock 1.

Because as far as I've known you on this forum, you've been offended by every games existence in some way, shape or form.

Nevertheless, Im sure you already know how much we all look forward to you semi saturating the thread with your poisonously shitty opinions while the majority of us will be having a fucking blast =P

As always.

I also cant wait for you to semi saturate the thread with your irrational defense of any criticisms the game might have from people. Your defensiveness of a game that isnt even out yet is quite pathetic.

If I have issues with it, Ill say so. Im simply looking forward to it like crazy thats all.

And Im not being defensive of the game. I just cant stand Derrick.

* I see what you did there.

Fanboys generally can't take people bringing up valid criticisms of their favorite games. I'd tell you to grow up but I feel like I'd just be wasting my time.

Ugh, I can already imagine how polarized the opinions in the OT are going to be. The game has high expectations associated with it, and I'm almost as hyped as Andrew is, but I'm really hoping we can talk about the flaws the game might have without totally denying its worth.

Great post dude, but unfortunately that aint gonna happen.

I was discussing the recent batch of trailers. There very actiony-hollywood esque and seems very honed on selling this game to the dude bro market it seems.

The game itself looks about as risky as it gets in the gaming industry nowadays.

Bioshock was sold the same way. It even had a prime time GTTV special a week before release. Not to mention if you go to gamestop, they are plastered with infinite adverts.

Can we maybe hold off on this infighting until at least the OT?

Impossible. Once those two go at it, there's no stopping them.

At least it will invoke some interesting discussion in the OT. And by interesting, I mean ridiculous hyperbole from both sides.
