There's nothing wrong with Derrick. His thoughts do engender constructive criticism, and it's important that we fairly evaluate things.
Had we all just glibly lapped up BioShock, would the team at Irrational Games had the proper "push" to improve upon its faults with Infinite?
I'm getting this on PC but what are the benefits of using keyboard and mouse apart from more precise aiming? I feel like this is one of those games I need to hook up to the big screen and can't really use a kb/m then. I'm not losing much if I use my 360 controller right?
let's "socialize" some more Andrew.
about all the things we're going to do in this wide world of Columbia
like tossing dudes off roofs and skyhooking into someone's eye socket. oh fuck yea
The Skyhook is the new wrench.
The finishers you can do with that thing give Killzone a run for it's money. No horseshit.

i will not follow up on this statement by watching videos!
I just hope the finishers are natural and not obtrusive, last thing I need is another QTE game![]()
Ray... is that you??He explains himself pretty well if you read the article![]()

Every game still needs a "Derrick" mode though. =P
Derrick has a tendency to be just as glib as the fanboys though. I've seen him call enough widely praised games "bad" just because they fell short of his expectations, Bioshock being a prime example. It's fine to place more important on some aspects of games than others (like mechanics), but just because a game doesn't deliver on the legacy of the series doesn't completely negate its strengths. I think people would be more willing to engage him if he wasn't as extreme as the enthusiasts.

Do what I call the solar punt: Hit fools with Bucking Bronco then quick-swap to the Charge vigor and send them to the moon.
Also, thank you for keeping the flame alight.

I should probably play Bioshock 2. I bought it at launch never got it running due to issues with the gflw patching system.
I wonder if any of that is improved.
That sounds cool got to try that.
Andrew, you seem to have as good of an idea of how this game will play and such as anybody here. Have you seen any interviews or footage that go into detail about the progression and level design? I'm just wondering how similar it is to the other BioShock games so I can get something of a feel for it before I play it.
Define progression in a game like this. Do you mean with skills or characters or what?
There are plenty of interviews out there which show levels but nothing that I have seen that give you a sense of progression. From what I've witnessed, the world is obviously more open compared to its predecessors because you arent stuck in tubes and rooms in under the ocean. It's not like there were underwater Skyhooks in Bio1/2. The sense of freedom of movement in this game is much greater.
Okay, you pretty much told me what I wanted to know. Thanks.
Wonder how this game will hand the more open environments. Open doesn't always mean better, but it could be something truly special if they can pull it off.
Well I think/hope it's definitely gonna be open, but contained, kinda like an Arkham Asylum or something. And I think it'll be the most beautiful open, yet contained world yet.
Something like Arkham Asylum would be very interesting. Could be very cool to go back through environments previously visited and seeing them decay as the game goes along. If that's what this game is attempting, of course.
I might just be talking out my ass though because I just finished Tomb Raider and started playing Arkham Asylum again because of the previous purchase. Ive got metroidvania and kinda half assed metroidvania on the brain at the moment.

You missed out, the big question is where the poop goes.
Hai Andrew what's Songbird
Phf, everyone knows Elizabeth is there/Shamyalan twistjust to make tears into another dimension to get rid of all that poop.
Hai Andrew what's Songbird
I hope in the main thread people can spoiler tag major locations.
I dunno, but watching those clips of it and seeing thatits actually got a fist and fingers and shit is really disturbing. Like on a Big Daddy level. Like that thing is a fucking humanoid. A giant one. Who is under all of that?
Especially when they take you back to Rapture.
Songbird is Booker
but
Is Booker Songbird?
Mysteries abound.
Nah, too rudimentary by Levine Standards.

You've encapsulated my thoughts.
Imagine ifwe get small glimpses of what's underneath all of that gear. Will it appear human? Animalistic? Neither?
oh god fuck these black bars im out
