One month from today: BioShock Infinite

Because I'm usually pretty sure whether or not I'm going to like something and don't need some sort of confirmation from an outside source that isn't me that I will or won't like it. I also normally get some pre-order only goodies that at worst, I wouldn't get otherwise or at best, would have to pay for later as DLC.

To add to this point, when you KNOW you want something (through trailers, through confidence/prior experience with the team building the game, through even the premise), I'd say in addition to preordering, most enthusiasts will actually stay AWAY from 3rd party reviews, if only for the most topline of topline impressions for fear of spoilers.

Which reminds me! What's our timeline looking like at this point? The press kits are out, so it's a safe assumption that reviewers are playing the game right now. Figure the following:
- Maybe a vague tweet or two from a few reviewers this week
- Embargo up a week from Thursday? I'd imagine they want some (ostensibly) positive press to drive sales that following Tuesday
- You KNOW a couple people on here are gonna get a hold of it by Friday or Saturday
- Internet blackout (by which I mean only the OT, no YouTube comments...just on guard for spoilers) begins Saturday to be ended Tuesday.

Why did it cost so much? Did they gouge you for shipping costs or something?

Pretty much.

45$ for shipping, and 46$ for importing taxes. It's double of the price of what I preordered (Limited Edition Strategy guide and Premium Edition).

I haven't played bioshock 1 or 2. Sould I play before infinite?

At this point, it's a tough call because of the off chance that you could be burned out by the time you reach Infinite in less than two weeks. And this is one game that you really don't want to go into with that kind of mindset.

-.- when was the last time limited meant actually limited? you still can find copies of Bioshock 2 SE around.

Baffles me steam top 10 list is always filled with pre-orders... like WHY? is Steam running out of copies?

pre order incentives.

Tomb Raider comes with Anniversary + DLC
RE6 comes with RE5 + Season Pass
Infinite comes with Bioshock 1 + Xcom + TF2 items

Hard to turn this stuff down.

No, don't burn yourself out.

Preorder from Steam, GMG, or PS3.

Get Bioshock 1 for free, play through later after you have finished Infinite.

Since we are talking about limited editions here, is the only difference between the songbird edition and the normal limited edition the statue? Also, do any of them come with an alt box art or a metal case or anything silly like that?
Holy crap. If the LE has the same art/box as the normal edition, I'm gonna print that out on some nice paper and make THAT the box art.

The statue is the only difference.

The game has a reversible cover, but no metal case.

deviantART time? deviantART time.

This one is definitely the best one. I've had it as my wallpaper for months.

Damn dude where do you live? I got the Limited guide too. I want that Songbird cage key!

Colombia (notice the irony here?). I just don't understand why I didn't have to pay such BS taxes when I preordered the Animus Edition of AC3.

I'm still pissed, but I don't want to cancel it because I want that edition since it will never come to Colombia, nor will the the LE Strategy guide (I want that as my keychain heh).

It's hilarious whenever someone wants to talk shit about art, they'll say something like "looks like something you'd see at deviant art" without realizing that plenty of professional and extremely talented amateur artists post great stuff on there on a daily basis.

uggg.. no disrespect, but WHY PEOPLE PRE-ORDER!? be a smart consumer, read review then purchase product. We would have less and less publishers/dev abusing consumers ala Aliens or Simcity.
Personally, I always pre-order games I plan to buy on day 1. Why? Because I'm going to buy it day 1 and want to pick it up at midnight.

I buy games because I want to play them, not because some review gave it a good score.

I don't feel as though most games are worth $60 at launch because most games do not have good stories or enough challenge to warrant replays. Something like Bioshock I might make exception to, but at the end of the day, it's a single player game that I can get through multiple times in 20 hours on a Gamefly rental.

Nah. I feel its better to put faith in the dev and product over that.

Anyone else pre-order the big bird edition? I've had my paid off for awhile but the slight hype is starting to build. I'm trying to contain my excitment.

I preordered this game specifically because I like the design philosophy that drives Irrational and I would like to show the industry that we can support big, ambitious games centered around narrative and world design.

I rarely pre-order, but it is pretty enticing these days because you often get games cheaper and with extra content or other incentives thrown in (especially on PC). I would pre-order maybe once a year when I'm very confident and there is a great deal.

I was sold on this game the moment it was revealed though. Something that hasn't happened since... the original Bioshock.

I pre-ordered the original, and I sure as hell didn't regret it. One of my friends painted my Big Daddy model, and it sits on my shelf today looking like this:

Is that that Anna Moleva chick? I have her as a friend on facebook (along with 2000 other people but still)

That was pretty well put together. I totally forgot about that dentist that appears right behind you.

Surprised they didnt include the twist scene.

I been playing BioShock to get some achievements was just playing some now I am up to
fort frolic I love this level probably one of the best levels ever in any game.

It also has my favorite audio diaries. One of the guys you have to photograph sounds exactly like the actor who played Lil' Bush. "With your plinkity-plink-plink."

The one you find in Eves Garden after you photo Cohens splicer there is a fucking riot too and it ended up being the one I was always missing and incidentally, my favorite because of its absurd
drunken
hilarity.
