Because I'm usually pretty sure whether or not I'm going to like something and don't need some sort of confirmation from an outside source that isn't me that I will or won't like it. I also normally get some pre-order only goodies that at worst, I wouldn't get otherwise or at best, would have to pay for later as DLC.
To add to this point, when you KNOW you want something (through trailers, through confidence/prior experience with the team building the game, through even the premise), I'd say in addition to preordering, most enthusiasts will actually stay AWAY from 3rd party reviews, if only for the most topline of topline impressions for fear of spoilers.
Which reminds me! What's our timeline looking like at this point? The press kits are out, so it's a safe assumption that reviewers are playing the game right now. Figure the following:
- Maybe a vague tweet or two from a few reviewers this week
- Embargo up a week from Thursday? I'd imagine they want some (ostensibly) positive press to drive sales that following Tuesday
- You KNOW a couple people on here are gonna get a hold of it by Friday or Saturday
- Internet blackout (by which I mean only the OT, no YouTube comments...just on guard for spoilers) begins Saturday to be ended Tuesday.
