One month from today: BioShock Infinite

Yes, but most of the promo vids a lot of times they didn't use it. And if it's like previous Bioshocks I doubt you have to.

Perfect.

You gotta keep the ADS crutch around for COD players I guess :)

GTA 4 maybe? I hated it, but press loved it so I hope it's not a repeat of that.

Yes.

I tried to get into EFLC over Christmas and it was horrible.

Then I played Sleeping Dogs a couple weeks ago, what an amazing game.

What if it's terrible? What if the entire game is a mess of useless skills where the shooting is much more effective than the powers? What if the story is a non-nonsensical stream of half-baked politital and religious opinions?

Snake_911 will still make daily topics about the storytelling genius of Ken Levine

I predict some people will enjoy this game and some won't.
2/10

Yep, Sleeping Dogs was real progress in the open world genre and scored not as well as what I expected.

If this game is the same way then so be it.

That being said, GTA V better not suck.

Before The Matrix Reloaded came out, I was so incredibly hyped. Having never been let down before, I was blind. Some guy asked me "But what if the film sucks. What will you do then?".

I just laughed, because it was impossible. I almost didn't understand the question. How could the sequel to The Matrix be bad?

If you don't like it, it's okay, Truant.

Meh, I am alive is alright I guess. Playing that now. And God of War wasn't...completely awful, so March hasn't been a total disappointment for me yet.

What about Dark Souls Derrick?

Actually just list off games that you enjoyed from this generation.

Tangent here, but I think this generation is going to be looked back on very poorly as probably one of the worst generations for the medium.

How long has it been Derrick since you have found gaming bliss?

I found it last week with Sleeping Dogs

Then a week before that with Aria of Sorrow

And now I am finding it with Don't Starve.

I can't trip without falling onto amazing games.

Have you ever played I am alive before? If not I might as well warn you that their budget obviously ran out before they completed the game.....

I fully expect the final 'what if' to be true, since "shitty story" is true of almost all games.

My hopes for Bioshock Infinite is that the world design is sufficiently intriguing and holds up over its length. That's what kept me going in Bioshock, the gorgeous and brilliantly creative world design.

As for shooting, as long as it's decent - because Bioshock's shooting mechanics were decent, at worst - I won't complain too much. I hope that battles have multiple viable approaches and that being flexible actually means something, but these days... I'll settle for decent combat :P

Don't worry too much about review scores.

The game will be good, we have seen it ourselves.

I'm not even going to read reviews or scores when I start to play the game, if I do that I find myself imprinting their own opinions onto the game.

And they spoil some of it as well.

How have we seen the game will be good for ourselves? I mean, we can know we enjoy the type of gameplay this game involves, but without knowing just how good the enemy A.I. is or the level design or anything like that, it's difficult to know if it will be good or bad. They've been pretty secretive about a lot. It's not like Tomb Raider where the actual minutiae of the gameplay design was bad in of itself so it was easy to predict how it would be in the end for your taste... this game has a lot more variables that are unknown qualities to us.

That said, people should ignore reviews because games journalism is a horrid joke, and every single day that passes simply verifies this fact. Whether every review is a 10/10 or a 1/10, it's utterly worthless in determining anything one way or the other :P

I feel really blessed for being able to enjoy so many games, maybe it's because I don't expect each one of them to be a life changing experience.

You can stay positive while not being absurdly idealistic. I think the game will probably be good, I really liked Bioshock 1 and 2, but to expect it to be so based on previews and some carefully crafted trailers? That's just being naive. They craft this stuff to entice people, they're trying to put only their best foot forward :P

I guess we'll need another 5000 videogame release controversies before people learn :P

I'm sure I could of think of something in the last 4 years if I thought hard enough.

Have you ever played I am alive before? If not I might as well warn you that their budget obviously ran out before they completed the game.....

The whole game shows how much trouble that dev cycle went through. It has a lot of ambitious little features though, would definitely like to see another game like it but without the multi-year development hell.

Derrick01 whining about a good game. News. Dude should write some pessimistic philosophical book for games.

Wait I did what now? All I said was I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out how DTKT was joking it would.

Gaming bliss is ANTICHAMBER on PC

if Derrick01 does not like ANTICHAMBER on PC, it is because he is a hardcore gamer FRAUD >:)

I did see someone saying he was excited for Derrik because he had high hopes for TLOU, that gave me a good laugh. Had no idea so many people were rooting for him to enjoy a game again. Good for him I guess lol.

if ya'll would just focus on the complaints he makes instead of the person making them and however much perceived 'negativity' he/she has all the time, we'd skip over the annoying parts of these conversations

Derrick01 just has a certain set of standards and he religiously sticks to them; I do too. But if he puts forth an idea and you don't agree with it, just explain what aspect you disagree about with the idea itself. Would save everybody time.

I got a headache just looking at the screens of it on the Steam page. I don't think I will ever play that.

Shame. It's the epitome of pure game design. Absolutely no fat. As soon as you start, you're instantly already playing - the start screen is the game's starting room, so you're presented with controls on the wall, a timer and a map you can go to to begin. EVERY single thing you encounter in this game is tutorial free. Doesn't matter how complex the puzzles may get, they're all variations on mechanics you'll naturally learn by progressing through the game's increasingly clever puzzles. The game will never say "oh, hey, press A to do this", it'll simply present you with something and through sheer experimentation you will learn if an action you do is wrong or right (or somewhere in between) and then use that learned knowledge to apply to future logic/perspective/etc puzzles. Despite this, it's not even remotely obtuse. It doesn't think gamers are stupid, shocking!

It's a game that doesn't give a shit about retard gamers who have no motor skills or don't want to put effort into getting better at things. It's the biggest middle finger to modern game design as I can think of.

Just give us suggestions on what game to play and we'll just assume that you hate the rest.

I mean if I played that I would get migraines because of that art style. Those mindfuck styles some indie games go for hurt my head. I can't even play hotline miami without getting migraines.

It's pretty weird that we got no videos showing exploration. Wasn't like that when Bio1 or 2's release was near.

Hope they didn't turn it down for the sake of action ...

I swear if this turns out to be Irrational's Half Life 2...

I'm playing Half Life 2 right now so that's the only reason I say that.
