One month from today: BioShock Infinite

it's amazing how much the White City was just a façade and how much shit they had to get done with such an extreme timeline

Just pre-ordered from Amazon DD. Got the code for the Kindle book, but no code for Industrial Revolution yet. Anyone know how long they take to email those? I want to make sure I unlock all the freebies before launch day.

It’s coming out at a very weird time, though, sandwiched right between PAX and GDC. I hope reviewers take their time, but yeah it's a really shitty release date.
Should have been a week earlier

I need this game in my veins. I'm going to be stuck in this thread until release date, and I hope to god no one gets an early copy and spoils everything. (Unless someone hooks me up.)

If I have been in a blackout, should I read after or before I play the game?

It doesn't spoil any of the events that happen IN THE GAME (it takes place prior to Booker DeWitt's arrival).

The novella unveils a bit of the origins of Columbia, its proclivity of Xenophobia and Exceptionalism, and unveils a few things about the Vox Populi and their leader
Daisy Fitzroy.

If you're happier not knowing anything prior to experiencing BioShock Infinite, skip it and read it after your first play-through. It more or less creates context and insight for what you'll encounter, but if you'd rather be nonplussed by these "surprises," don't read it.

Do any of you know around what time stores usually get their shipment of 2K game titles?
A week early? 3 days early?
Because that's when you know street dates will be broken.

It can vary. People like Praiseworthy get their stuff a week or so before because they have hook ups at Mom n Pop places. That dude had TR AND Ascension well before they released.

I read it thought it was very good gives good insight on the story.

Thanks, guys! Will holdout until I finish my first playthrough then.

That's the thing I got both quite early too, and that's because each publisher is kind of predictable.

Sony usually get their games out a week and a half to two weeks early. That's how I got God of War Ascension and UC3 super early. Every publisher has a very predictable cycle, and we just need to figure out how early a game like XCOM shipped to predict the flood of spoilers. But maybe that's a bit extreme.

Pirated 360 copies will probably start hitting early this week and the early sellers next weekend so a spoiler thread early on would be a good idea...I mean this is Bioshock after all...I remember in Bioshock 1 how the big spoiler would of ruin that game if I would of know it before even playing hehe...

I'll be at one of the Boston Gamestops to say Hi. I'll know which one tomorrow if anyone is local.

We gonna get some more Irrational Podcasts or are you making any appearances or bringing some out of the game once this hits? You are sorely missed on my feed dear sir.

When does the OT go up?

Tuesday, no?

Also, don't forget, :60 spot during Walking Dead tonight!

Guys. I'm so fucking excited for this game. I'm like, asking people at work about it and shit, and talking it up to all my friends. I feel like a teenager. It feels good to be just BEAMING with excitement. Man, I can't fuckin' wait.

Hahaha. Same. My friends are either all "will you please shut the fuck UP about this game on Facebook" or pissed that they can't play it. One of them hopes it comes out for Wii. Heh.

Are any impressions implying this lives up to Bioshock 1?

There was a slew of positive previews a couple of months back based on the first 4 hours. Of course previews are rarely too critical, but these seemed genuinely positive.

The only negatives raised were that it might feel a little too much like Bioshock, and that the gunplay might be a little questionable. How the game shapes up as a whole, well, no one knows yet. Or more like those that know aren't talking!

A few tweets here and there make it seem like this one is going to hit the mark. Hype get!
