One month from today: BioShock Infinite

LikeandDislikes posted a review vid on YouTube. Short and no spoilers it seems, though there is a bit of new/alternate gameplay.

Very annoying though, and could be from a pirated copy:

PS3 version does look beautiful, though don't expect anything beyond what current consoles can do. Reminds me of Dishonored a bit actually.

The score...
8.3

There's no way they received an official review copy. The channel's barely six months old, has just 112,000 views and 1,300 subscribers, and BioInf seems to be the first pre-release review they've ever done.

What kind of accent is that? Sounds so damn weird ..

Also just happens to be the PS3 version.

Wait.. Isn't there a reversible cover? I don't like the original cover, but I don't care.

This is directed to that guys complaints about the cover art.

You weren't kidding when you said annoying.

Sorry, I feel like this has already been answered but I'm not clear. With this new pre order unlock thing on Steam (first one I've done), do the people who buy it after release get the bonuses as well? What about those who buy it after it unlocks.?

No, they're explicitly pre-purchase bonuses.

Edit: It seems you've asked the same question twice. If your first question was intended to ask if those who pre-purchase later also receive the previous rewards that have already unlocked, the answer is yes.

As long as you preorder it on Steam, you will get all three rewards, plus the Industrial Revolution pack. If you buy the game after release, you won't get the preorder bonuses.

Someone PM FartOfWar this video. I hope this guy gets his ass shut down.

Holy screen tearing. vsync it is.

oops yeah that's what I meant with the pre order question. This is a good way for Steam to compete with GMG or other competitors I guess, obviously they're both from 2K so that plays in I'm sure. This makes paying $60 for a game on pc easier to swallow.

Try being smarter like asking where can you get it cheaper.
Not that hard.
The point being that PC games should be (and mostly still are) $50 as they don't have a console manufacturer tithe.
You have whole bunch of stupid points. I fail to see how being allowed to preorder it on the pc is negative in any way. Commercial are not meant for you. Real life ads? Why is this anyway turning you off of the game. Will never get the obsession of people with box art that they will look at for a total of 3 seconds before putting it down and never paying attention to it again. How is adding modes treating people like children? How does the collector edition turn you off to the game? It literally has no effect on your enjoyment of the product.
-You almost can't exist in modern society without seeing commercials. This is probably the smallest concern of mine, though.
-Real life advertising is annoying. I think public spaces should be free from advertising.
-The box art is succoming to gamers' bullshit preferences. The horror of featuring a woman or a creature or something other than a white male with a weapon among sparks! BioShock 1 sold fine being new IP catering to a smaller install base without a shitty cover, but Levine insists it's needed in this case. Ok.
-The collector's edition sucks, I think anyone who's seen the press kits would prefer that over what's being offered. Game companies put these together with full knowledge that a good number of people will buy it because of their enthusiasm for the game, not for what it actually comes with.
OK . . . then don't buy it. Bye.
Gee, it's almost like I said I was basically considering just that (by getting a used copy.)
The Simcity mess was a combination of a single player game having to be always-online and fan frustration with said DRM, coupled with overloaded servers that weren't allowing people to play the game they just bought, not to mention how EA has been handling all of this.

I'm still not sure how PC preorders for this game are a bad thing.
Because the PC is not as locked down as consoles and refunds are usually not given if the game doesn't work. Fact of the matter is that PC games just often enough don't work properly (or sometimes at all) at launch
So you just want a small viral campaign and Ken Levine to mail it to you in a manilla envelope for $30?

I don't really think it's a good thing to hold developers accountable for marketing/publishing decisions though. If I busted my ass making a game and saw people dismissing it because of marketing decisions I would be pretty sad.
Yeah, and that's why I'm not sure what to do.
It's not $60 everywhere.
By $60 I meant MSRP. What % of goods and services are not sold at a lower price anywhere? Probably almost none, so I don't understand how you could think that that was what I was saying.

Sorry for the big post.

Rev3's review is supposed to go up on the 25th, and I have yet to see reviews from any of the other sources, so if he got a legit copy (and I don't believe he did either) he probably just broke the embargo if there is one on this game . I don't buy that he got a real review copy, just seems too new for that kind of connections.

Unlocked!!

I'm confused, are you talking about Adam Sessler?

Yeah, that youtube vid is definitely a pirated copy. No actual reviewer would break embargo for this.

Also Gat Damn at that bloom. It looks like they're using it as the equivalent of fog from back in the N64 days. Really wish I had a capable PC now.

-Particularly exploitive bonuses on PC
+t don't have a multiplayer mode, so why do you care?
-Polluting real life with building ads
+Oh, c'mon
1. I'm referring to the tactic of witholding bonuses in an attempt to get people to market the game to their friends for them. Not in-game items or what have you.
2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criticism_of_advertising#Public_space

Almost all of your other rebuttels seem to be "everyone is doing this." I'm always ticked off by these things, not just in this specific circumstance.
Should I not?

Do you know when it'll be available to download for us guys who preordered?

Still just have Infinite and OG Bioshock in my games list and I'm really keen to play XCOM

Whenever Valve gets around to flicking the switch, which should be at some point between now and the general store update in ~9.5 hours.

I gotta say, I'm pretty looking forward to this game. I've never played either of the other two Bioshocks, which is a shame since they look good too. But this looks amazing. So colorful and full of personality

Damn, I guess my acid trip play through of Bioshock Infinite will have to wait - thanks for the heads up random YouTube pirate!

I'll wait for some after release impressions for this one, the 2 weapon limit and the litteral handholding that's going in the videos on is really putting me down.
Plus i wanted to play the 1999 mode from the get go, and if you really have to unlock it by finishing the game, well there is no way im playing such a story driven game two times in a row to get some challenge.

Wrong. It has been said multiple times that you have to unlock the 1999 mode via a code.
