I just don't see it happening. If GoW can’t do it (with a singular game/collection release-not combined games), I don’t see FF X being able to do so, even with the Vita sales. And this is coming from someone where FF X is one of my all-time favorite games.

FFX is more popular than any GoW

Why ? Tons of people are excited at the simple fact that they are getting the International version with added content and would have bought the game for this alone. But on top of that we are getting HD, redone textures and X-2, all for 40$.

The people saying that the game won't come close to selling 3M copies aren't backing it up with anything.

It's a great deal and I'm extremely excited about it. I just think you people are being waaaaay too optimistic.

This (or KH 1.5 HD Remix) could quite possibly end up being the best-selling HD remaster, for sure. I wouldn't doubt that. But 3 million would be totally ridiculous. The only reason anyone's throwing *that* number around is the whole idea of this selling to half of the people who originally bought FFX (which won't happen). There's nothing to back up the 3 million number either.

WOW, now THAT's a remaster.

Bububububut... there's not much difference!

I guess we'll see. I'm not going to throw a number, but I will say that I expect the collection to sell more than the others. It will be the best-selling HD Collection out there.

It looks close, namely Lulu's model.
The character models look so much better than the original I was shocked at first, but we haven't seen enough of the environment to compare it to XIII yet IMO. Also, I expected a funnier answer :p.

Considering how long FF fans have been waiting for a good HD FF it's not too far fetched.
I don't really see why that makes a difference. People won't buy this just because it's a FF game in HD, they'll buy it because they liked X/X-2.

Are some people really saying that? In my opinion, that statement is just as ridiculous as saying that it looks on par/better than FFXIII.

I could post a really ugly image of FFXIII if you want :o

Chuck Norris keeps defending that stance, yes.

RE: The likelihood of the remasters selling 3m.

Don't forget that there really isn't a "better" version of FFX/X-2 that has come along since its original release.

Obviously opinions vary on its place in FF history overall, but the fact of the matter is that these are titles with a world, characters, and battle mechanics of its own. Its not like the GoW collections which are just selling an upgraded versions of earlier entries in an ongoing franchise that hasn't changed much, same deal with DMC, etc.

FFX sold over 6m units, and its sequel 4m. These were very big games in their day, especially in Japan.

These are reasons for the FFX HD Remaster to sell very well and better than any HD Collection before.

These are not reasons for 3 million sales to be within reach.

Here's a question--will this game get any translation update? I don't mean in terms of character dialogue (which I highly doubt will be changed), but more so on spell names and the like. Like, will they update the spell names to the modern Final Fantasy translations; i.e. "Raise" instead of "Life," or "Libra" instead of "Scan?"

Why on earth not, when we have figures from elsewhere in this thread showing the GoW collection has sold-in nearly 2.5m globally?

We'll see. I'm hoping they make some tweaks and additions to the gameplay, and if that happens, some changes to the localization could be possible as well.

The GoW collection has been on sale for a long time, and it hasn't had to deal with releasing in a year when new consoles are coming out.

So outselling GoW Collection (2.5 million WW) is something you wouldn't doubt, but 3 million WW is ridiculous? That's a pretty narrow prediction you're making here.

3m worldwide is optimistic, but not unreasonably so.

It could do very, very, well in Japan, in which case there'd be less pressure for it to perform spectacularly in the west in order to reach its target.

Realistically this is the first remaster where the sales of the original titles were at their best in Japan.

KH1 + Chain of memories did barely over 100k in the first week and I'm not sure if it will get to 200k.

I hope so !

I wonder if we'll see this "corrected"?:

Well, if the CG cutscenes are any indication, they'll probably crop this image so it's in 16:9 and upscale it to 720p. I'm not so sure how it'll turn out. Probably not good.

I think he's referring to the text, instead of the background image. That kid says he wants to grow up to be a Blitzball, not a Blitzball player.

I wasn't aware your PS3 self-destructed as soon as the PS4 hits the market.

One of the lesser known features! However, it does curtail the time available to play this collection if I'm to trade in the PS3 towards the PS4. Still, this is a conversation for another thread probably.

Square should have something like this on their official site for the remasters, and for every screenshot. I don't remember the old games looking that bad, but the difference in the new textures and models is astounding. The design on Wakka's bracer, Lulu's hair and outfit, and the grass by the staircase are particular improvements.

These games have been a long time coming, but I think the wait is officially justified. Can't wait for Monday's trailer.

One of the reasons the GOW Collection sold so well was that it came just before GOW3 came out. Also, it has taken a long time to get to 2.5 million. FFX will sell very well I'm sure, especially in Japan.
