Green Man Gaming Thread: Save some green, man

Hey, how does the cashback option work on GMG? This is my first purchase from their site and haven't really had any notification since buying BioShock: Infinite.

UPDATE 1704 GMT March 23rd:

Hi everyone,

The site is currently down as many of you have spotted, following instability through the night.

Unfortunately, due to the sheer popularity of the BioShock Infinite offer we are experiencing technical issues. This has resulted in the site being temporarily unavailable. Please rest assured that our tech team is working hard to address the issue so that we can resume our standard service. We appreciate this is not ideal as many of you are hoping to preload BioShock Infinite for launch, but please bear with us, we want you to be able preload BioShock Infinite just as much as you want to.

Where is my BioShock Infinite key?
We are working hard to get your keys out to you soon, and you will receive your key in time for release.

Why can’t I access my keys page?
With regards to the ‘keys’ and ‘games’ sections in the account page – please refer to the following blog post. We know this is an unusual measure to take but we hope you understand we are doing this to ensure we can get keys to you by the release of BioShock Infinite.

I prepurchased ages ago, why are others getting their keys before me?
We fully understand that this is seen as unfair by a number of users, and we are taking your feedback on board. While we can't immediately change this (as it would require substantial work), we are aware of the demand for it and thank those for providing us with that feedback. We wouldn't be here without you or the support we receive from you, so we do genuinely want your say on the site.

Why doesn’t the 20% voucher code work?
Since this morning, a new 20% voucher code has been created GMG20-FDSCL-AQQXD this voucher is valid until 4pm GMT 28/03/2013.

Again we sincerely apologise for the issues experienced this weekend. We are working hard to correct them across all of Green Man Gaming and hope to have them resolved soon.

Sent like a refund, it will be sent to the card you paid with. I received mine within 3 or 4 working days.

Welp, this is the last time I order with GMG. Clearly this was a universal deal and not exclusive to them, probably go with GetGames next time a big release comes round.

Man I agree especially when there is guys on here selling a key for 30 to 35. I only went with GMG because of the deal of cash back.

From the forums about not receiving confirmation emails

Worry not - we've got a few thousand orders in a holding pattern while we fix a DB issue. Once we hit go on it - you'll be getting your e-mail.

Urggh why didn't I just wait! I've went and bought it off Steam now.

GMG is still broken FUUUUU
I want my key to pre-load, my internet sucks and I need at least a day or so before hand for such a big download. Guess I shouldn't complain though, it was a steal at that price alone let alone the 3 other free games

I still haven't received my keys.

On the bright side, I'm happy this promotion did well for GMG if they're struggling this much to send out all the keys.

Me neither. This is just another sign for publishers to keep supporting the PC as a platform.

IDK, I wouldn't say that paying 35-38 euros for a brand new game counts as a huge ripoff.

Bioshock Infinite is a rare exception. Euro GMG's cash back/credit deals a few months ago were just a big FUCK YOU in the face of Europe.

For example, Tomb Raider preorder in the US was $45 with $10 cash back or $15 credit. In Europe, the same deal was €45 with €7 cash back or €10 credit. The price was bullshit-converted in 1$=1€ like every other site, but the cash back/credit was not. Not only were you paying more, but you also received back a smaller percentage of your payment than Americans. That's what I meant with my "double middle finger" comment.

Oic. It's just that all the times I've bought from GMG the titles have been <40€.

Second time they do this to me I don't know why I fell on this again, my friend bought Bioshock and hour ago from GMG and the mofo got email with the keys. I bought it 3 days ago and nothing yet.

I can't see the bundle deal on the site at all. When I go to the Bundles page, there's a banner advertising it, and nothing clickable underneath.

Is it region-locked in any way? Why can't I give them my money?

Yeah, the AJAX request to fetch my keys keeps 500'ing

No key here. But then, I did order weeks ago. At least their blog suggests they realise that early preorders getting their keys after people buying now is a shitty situation.

These guys are working in the early hours - kudos to them.

I always get my keys nearly immediately when I preorder last-minute. They really need to change their system. People who preorder well in advance should at least get them at roughly the same time.

Keys should be dispensed in the order they were purchased. Imagine if people were queuing up for days to get a new iphone or whatever, and were made to wait while people who just walked up on release day were sold theirs first. It's not really fair to do it that way. Nevermind "roughly the same time", people who gave money a long time ago should get their items first.

At the end of the day it's still just a preload so as long as everyone gets their keys in time to preload then it's fine - and the guys there seem to be working hard to make sure that happens. But, if they are being dispensed in reverse order (as seems to be the case) and the people who gave money weeks or months ago do not get their keys in time for release - or even worse if GMG runs out of keys - at that point it crosses the line into unacceptable territory.

They're probably using a LIFO system, which is odd for a digital good, but there must be a technical reason I am unaware of.

It certainly seems to be LIFO, or using some ordering not related to time-of-purchase. It's certainly not FIFO. Also, they presumably have a queue of preorders that is being worked through, but once the keys are available, new purchases just go straight through and bypass the queue. Their previous tweet about this system suggested that it would be significant work to change it, which I guess means software re-engineering. Hopefully, this particular pre-order mess (it is not their first, but it seems to be their largest) has illustrated to them the need to make some changes about the way their system works.
