Metal Gear Solid V announced (PS360, open world)

There seem to be a lot of big games releasing with the next gen consoles right around the corner. I dont think i will even look at the new consoles at launch, too many new games are still coming.

HYPE HYPE HYPE!!!!!

No Hayter is disappointing though. He even asked on his twitter if people would still buy an MGS game if he didn't do the voice.

I know it's big boss and not snake but dammit couldn't they just use a bit of voice filters to slightly alter his voice?

And I hope there's a next gen version of it in some form. This is the kind of game that would make me pickup a PS4 day one.

Haha. Even though my dislike for MGS4, this trailer is more ambitious, interesting and shows more experimental stuff than rest of the AAA output this gen combined... well almost :b

But this is how stale the AAA development is. This game looks so fresh and unique.

Ocelot spotted in GDC demo

I don't understand why the didn't get Hayter to voice Snake. Hayter is Snake.

Hayter was great in MGS1, but he's become a parody of himself. Now he just sounds like he's trying too hard, particularly when he goes for a more gravely voice, it's really not that good. He may be synonymous with snake, but who cares? This is Big Boss. They should have had a different va for him anyways.

There's no way there isn't next gen ports of this. Creating an engine optimized for next gen and releasing the marquee title only on current gen is a huge waste.

I wouldn't go that far, most of what we saw looked like cutscenes mixed with that almost on rails demo of the hospital scene that was shown at the VGAs. I still want to see how this open world stealth is supposed to work. Now there's something that could be fresh and unique seeing as there's no true open world stealth titles.

While I agree that he was kinda terrible in MGS4, it will still be weird to not hear him. I'll get used to it though.

i was trying to find gameplay stuff that looked interesting. all i saw were cutscenes. maybe you can point them out?

gta v's most recent trailer (the one from a few months back) is all talky stuff, but reveals a lot about the direction of the game and how it plays. it's one of the best game trailers out there.

this one was a pretty good music video at the very least. really fantastic editing.

mind *blown*

It was pretty obvious that they were the same game. I'm not unhappy that Hayter is not back for this one. tbh it'll be nice to hear big boss and not immediately think of solid snake.

Excellent, I was right about everything. Ground Zeroes the Virtuous Mission, change of Snake voice to older one to explain all the dementia cutaways in a non comical fashion as Hayter would have undoubtedly evoked, MGSV bitches!

Is it Doyle? I cant make out from that gameplay clip.

Is there something stuck in his forehead?

It seems some kind of fragment. Maybe he got it crashing with the elicopter before being in coma and they couldn't extract it because it's stuck in his brain (maybe another link to what's happening in Phantom Pain?). And maybe that's another link to project Ogre, because Onis (japanese ogres) have horns... ok, ok, maybe i'm pushing this too far... :D

Hell of a trailer. I don't want my expectations tempered by MGS4 and Peace Walker; this immediately looks like the real sequel to Snake Eater. No closing plot threads or continuity or plausibility, Kojima. I don't want to hear a one hour long technical explanation for why someone is a fucking vampire. Just be creative and evocative.

But, nanomachines......

Looks great. I wonder how the whole dream state thing is handled along with it being an open world game. Are we playing out a lot of this game inside the mind of Big Boss? If so then oh lord Kojima can do whatever he wants and doesn't have to explain himself.....gunna be good.

I'm sure the game will be awesome but it looks so underwhelming now that we've seen PS4 games... Hopefully they have a surprise at the end ;)
