Didn't overthink anything. If it's not included with every PS4, it's a huge mistake. Anything that splits the userbase out of the gate is a big mistake.

As for charging controllers while the PS4 is off, didn't we already know that when they said the PS4 is always on (low-power sleep mode essentially)?
 
Wow remote play seem amazing. Looks like it should just work right out the box with just about every game.

Guess back pad will have to be used for l2/r2
 
I already have $500 put aside for this with about $170 in credit at Gamestop for games.

I'm diving in head first. PS4 is sounding great.

I'm sure a good amount of that will be, because it will be hard coded into the OS. Just like with remote play, now. Devs don't do anything. It's just.... there...
 
Seems like SONY is addressing every complaint people had with the PS3 from, PSN Friend count, bundled headset (probably cheap, but still), ease of use w/ connecting to internet, bluetooth, overall--convenience has been addressed!

I wasn't commenting on whether it's boxed or not, I was commenting on whether the use of it will be enforced. Which it shouldn't.

It is off by default, unless you import a profile from an outside social network. Then is on by default but can be turned off.

Me I am totally down for real names. Then again, I only have maybe 5 friends on my PSN friends list.

Rear or front touch will work with the Vita. It's how they do it on PSone games.

I don't want to have to pay extra money for something I don't want to use. And I don't want to use motion controls. I shouldn't be forced to pay extra so they can include that in the box. Just give me the console, the controller, a headset and all of the necessary attachments to start it up and i'm good.

So, PS4 Eye in every SKU of the hardware, but developers don't have to use it. Good, the more liberties, the better development environment.
 
Remote play sounds GREAT. You don't have to start up an app, the render on Vita will be in native Vita resolution so it will be sharp, and it will work with everything. Plus, I can probably play it anywhere in my house instead of just in my room like with my Wii U.

But surely for the PS4 to do that it would have to be always online, even when it's off. I thought people here hated the idea of that?

Nor will it be forced on Kinect. The difference being that if its in the box (either of them) then every dev can do whatever they want and no one is negatively affected by the decision.

The chances are great since trophies won't be tacked onto the PS4. They'll be built from the ground up with the OS. If they're not, Sony needs to hire new coders.

Few people give a shit about motion controls. And most certainly don't want to be forced to pay for or use something they don't want. So no, not including it is not only not a mistake, it's a very good decision that gives the customer and user more choice and purchase freedom.

Maybe. You may be able to customize it on the Vita, something like:

L2 - bottom left
L3 - top left
R2 - bottom right
R3 - top right

Thats how I do my PS one games. Don't care for rear touch. Keep hitting it accidentally.

Yeah it's now implied that the only responsibility the devs have to make their games usable on vita is to make a working control scheme. I'm personally hoping for a franken-trigger extension though.. that way no one has to do anything.

I'm thinking not so much when you are moving, but in that you don't have to worry who's got controller 1 or 2 or whatever when you start playing. You just start playing and it automatically puts the screens in the right spot.

It's already confirmed that the PS4 wont be required to be online, of course it have to be online if you want to connect it to other devices through the internet.

Exactly. Sell the Vita, buy multiple years of PSN+ and a game.
 
Since I haven't seen it mentioned yet (or pulled from my twitter), controllers can now be linked to specific users on the PS4, and not just the system itself.
