Metal Gear Solid V announced (PS360, open world)

The game or the engine? I know Kojima has been working on the FOX engine for quite some time, but is the game really that close to completion?

He was in his late twenties, early thirties back when MGS3 took place.

Assuming Ground Zeros/The Phantom Pain extends into the mid-late 1980s, he'd probably be late forties, early fifties. Some people don't gray until their sixties.

Yeah but I don't know, I would have expected a bit of gray hair.

BTW There isn't two games. GZ is just the prologue. PP is the only game coming.

No one thinks it's weird that BB doesn't look much older than in MGS3? No gray hair?

His hair may not be gray, but he looks plenty older.

Yeah but I don't know, I would have expected a bit of gray hair.

If TPP is set in '83/84, then he still has a while to go totally grey by the time Metal Gear 1 rolls around (1995, I think). I'd think he might have grey tips already, but different people age differently. Ocelot obviously went totally grey/white early like Steve Martin, whereas Big Boss' wonderful genes are keeping him dashing to the very end :P

EDIT - There is a bit of grey in his beard in that picture up there ^

Don't know if this was asked yet but I wonder if this game will have less cutscenes and less voice acting than MGS4 since its multiplatform and they have to deal with the 360's smaller DVDs?

any interesting infos from the interview?
did he clear up the two game thing?

-Game takes place immediately after PW
-GZ is the prologue, PP comes 9 years later and is much, much larger (open world)
-Two games that make up MGS5, but he would not comment on how it would be distributed (I.E. together or separately).
-David Hayter is out as MGS5 is reinventing/re-imagining the series, so they wanted a new voice
-New voice actor was not confirmed aside from that it is not David Hayter
-Joakim Mogren was indeed a real person, not CG
-There will be a ton of new characters
-Snake has bone and fragments in his skull as seen at the end of the trailer
-Changed game numeral from numbers to roman numerals; the "V" is for 'victory' and is to demonstrate their will for victory
-Kojima would not comment on if the game will be available on next-gen platforms yet, but it will be on PS3 and 360
-Game developed on PC environment with current gen consoles in mind
-Different from past MGS games and not the traditional stealth found in the previous games

I wonder if Ishmael is actually a hallucination of who the character you control used to be, he's been brainwashed with Big Bosses memories, but maybe Ishmael is the last remaining part of his personality appearing as a hallucination.

BB is breathing from a device when the doc is speaking to him.

Edit: Seems like GZ will be a demo or something like that. Weird

And obviously this is really Big Boss after all.

In regards to the horn on BB's head, Isn't it possible that it could just be an accessory/ item?

Kinda like the face octo camo in MGS4. I remember when a trailer was released and it showed young Snake and everyone was like "DDAAA FUC?!"
Its a failed Big Boss clone is my guess. Makes the most sense to me. They obviously had some failed experiments before they got it right. The horn is what it is.

I think he's something along those lines certainly. He stammers one sentence and says "I...we". And when asked who he is he points at BB. Knowing the way GAF works, I am also sure this was already mentioned immediately after the gameplay segment was shown.

All (well 99 percent) of MGS cutscenes are in-engine historically.

I'm guessing that there will be compressed audio on the 360 and lossless audio on the ps3. Wasn't most of the space on the brd from mgs4 used for audio?

Not like Kojima would spoil a twist like that months before the game's release...

It's Big Boss, period. People always imagine that Kojima is lying or fooling us, and yet he never does. It's always obvious when he is hiding something.

You and declarative statements don't go well together pal. Just minutes ago tonight before the GT trailer, you were saying "ONE GAME ONLY!" - now it's confirmed two games.

Guy on the horse seems like Ocelot.

Which woman?

I think he's talking about kid Mantis, haha.

It was a pretty good interview, lots of things we were wondering about got not only asked but answered as well.

GZ and TPP being separate means that the wait will be easier with us probably getting one a few months ahead of the other. I'm okay with this.

How does everyone feel about the separate releases thing? I'm pumped that we will probably be able to play it earlier now, and I'm not too disappointed about having to pay more than $60. I don't think Kojima will cheap out on content and it sounds like he's really trying to load the games with tons of gameplay.

There was a guy on GameFAQs back in the ramp up to MGS3 saying that everybody was an idiot and that it would ACTUALLY be Solid Snake reliving Big Boss's memories through time travel/VR.

It's hard to go overboard when you're speculating about an MGS game, but some people still manage to do so.

third guy is Kojima/Joachim/bandage dude/kiefer sutherland
Ishmael, you mean?
You'd go from the POV of Ishmael right before the coma to the POV of Big Boss upon waking up. Not impossible, naturally, but don't you think it would make sense for that first person perspective to belong to the same character?
Then, there's that thing about the piece of shrapnel. Unless Big Boss somehow got it during his coma, something doesn't fit, there.
And why would Big Boss still be bandaged like that after 9 years of coma?

And faking his feelings for the Boss, too. That Solid Snake, what a joker!
Hardly the same thing here though.

What a goddamn clusterfuck, releasing this game as a two part endeavor on the eve of a new console generation.

So, do you release the first part of the game on PS3 and the next part on PS4, or both on PS3 and PS4? Does GZ come out before PS4?

More importantly: Which game contains MGO?
