He's so cool and edgy bro!!
Don't you get it!!11!

Calm down, step outside for a while. Nobody is actively destroying Nintendo, not even Nintendo. These companies do not view Nintendo as legitimate business partner. They are actively destroying Nintendo and Nintendo as a company needs to do something about.
I think at this point it should be Nintendo's mission to pretty much retaliate. You can't let your company smear your companies reputation so openly.
Well, he did call a room full of (probably very important) third party developers manchildren. Was this really necessary?
Majority of 3rd parties use UE to make their games, EA is using Frostbite mostly. If those 2 engines don't support Wii U, it'll be too much of a task for said 3rd parties to release Wii U games and they will be much more likely to not bother releasing games for it.Where are you even coming up with this leap in logic? lol
At the end the joke will be on the industry, cause if the Wii U don't replicate the Wii success (and we all know it won't), and the PS4/XBOX have a hard time to achieve PS360 numbers, hard times will come for everybody in the game...

DragonSworne can be sarcastic at times so I wouldn't view it as serious (I hope).Calm down, step outside for a while. Nobody is actively destroying Nintendo, not even Nintendo.
Um... that was a term of endearment...Calm down, step outside for a while. No need to call anybody a chum in here.
Nintendo only has 2 real choices: 1.) Get back into an arms race with Sony/MS and correct the problems that caused them to fail the last time they did this. And no, it wasn't power related. 2.) Go 3rd party.
I'll be buying Watch Dogs on Wii U. Time will tell if there is a big enough market for core games on Wii U (I think there will be, just a smaller one that PS/XB of course)Or once their games flop they'll be gone as well. I'm wondering who is actually going to buy Watch Dogs and AC4 on Wiiu
What I meant is that it can run on Wii U. Epic might not bring it but I guarantee that if it can run on a mobile phone, Wii U could run it.Look at what Rein said.
"But our goal for Unreal Engine 4 console-wise is next-gen consoles. That's really what our energies are focused on."
Nintendo had their chance to join Epic's vision. They didn't. Their labour can be better spent elsewhere.
Fuck. Wow, straight up laughter.
I...have nothing.
First console to be nearly zero third party support?
Man oh man. Nintendo had better be burning the midnight oil on HD game development with all the new studios they've created...right? They DID prepare for this....RIGHT?!?
Was this really necessary?

I don't understand the console warrior mentality.
I own a Vita. It's doing terribly I can point out its flaws, laugh at it, etc.
Some people take this stuff too seriously. I'm sure Wii U will be fine in the end anyway.
No need for the insults being cast by those so upset at the Wii U's current position in here.
No UE4 =/= failure.

Manchildren is a term that fits that behaviour perfectly though. It's not exactly acting like professionals.
I know. I'm just having fun.Um... that was a term of endearment...
I'm not salty at all, but apparently I've rustled some console warrior feathers.
Hush that sensible and rational line of thought!I don't understand the console warrior mentality.

Well it couldn't have been games.
Keep laughing it up, chums. Mark Rein has 5 more years, tops.
It's sad how the industry sees Nintendo as a joke.

Not necessarily. They could do what they did with the Wii and the DS and predict and realize a gaming vision different from that of their peers that catches on in the mainstream and explodes. Then they can be consistently profitable regardless of who supports them.
Otherwise, yeah, they should go third party.
Yeah we get it. Everyone is doomed.
Calm down, step outside for a while. Nobody is actively destroying Nintendo, not even Nintendo.
Holy shit that pic.The only thing people are going to remember from Nintendo's GDC 2013 is a mix of this and Mark Rein going "LOL Nintendo".

I disagree. Their third choice involves acting more like a 3rd party publisher though, in that they need to actually start releasing all of the potential software that they're sitting on. They've been happy to drop Wii Fit, Wii Sports type titles without doing hardly any work on the content that their core crowd is clamoring for. I don't think people were every truly happy with a proper Mario or Zelda every few years and nothing else. They convinced themselves that it was OK when they owned a Wii, but the truth is that they don't want to be tricked back into that situation.Nintendo only has 2 real choices: 1.) Get back into an arms race with Sony/MS and correct the problems that caused them to fail the last time they did this. And no, it wasn't power related. 2.) Go 3rd party.
New?Lol, I think the new RIP in peace meme is going to be the beast takeaway from this thread.

I don't see a room of app developers laugh at Blackberries struggle for example, but maybe I'm wrong.

Nintendo should really go third party and find partnerships with content providers while keeping ownership of their brands.
As soon as Iwata is replaced, that move is inevitable. Nintendo's existence as a hardware manufacturer is coming to an end. There is simply no need for it anymore.
This was...this was before everyone started entering the room, right?
What
when was this? there a thread on it?
