Metal Gear Solid V announced (PS360, open world)

It was not almost a carbon copy. There are definitely passages where the melody is briefly quite similar, but the time signature, tempo, instrumentation, and counter melodies are all different. And there are a majority of places where the pieces are absolutely nothing alike. Observe. Sviridov's "The Snowstorm". Tappy's MGS Main Theme.

I never get the outrage over the theme. Yeah, there were a lot of similarities, but as it existed, I didn't think Tappy's version was a carbon copy. It only really started sounding similar once they made an orchestrated version in MGS2. More "I Need a New Drug" and "Ghostbusters," less "Kernkraft 400" and "Lazy Joes."

Yep. Chances of TPP being co-ops again? The GZ intro specifically states he needs to go solo for that mission, but TPP could suit multiplayer. Either the first one or two missions in Peace Walker were SP only.

I think it would be cool to do it the same way as PW. Being an open world game, you could cooperate with somebody else across a large map to sneak in, would be pretty cool.

On the other, the boss design will ultimately suffer. Even PO had better bosses than the shit we got in PW. So I don't know…

It's just disrespectful in the musician community. A similar occurrence happened with Dragonball Z Kai, where themes had been plagiarised from Avatar even. Yeah, they sound different enough, but you can tell it's more than inspiration.

Isn't the official story that Liquid DID in fact possess Ocelot when he transplanted the arm. So Ocelot cut it off and replaced it with a bionic one and mind conditioned himself.

So in essence Liquid died again off screen between 2 and 4.
Why is that so dumb and pointless.

Nope it was Ocelot all along. In MGS2 that may have been the official story, but for all intents and purposes it was retconned in mgs4 to be a ruse by Ocelot in order to fool the patriots. Stupid I know.

I also like the fact that it was never really Liquid, Ocelot is too much of a boss to toss aside for a "posession" story. Let alone posession through an arm.

By the way, could the "what about him" Miller asks at the start of the trailer be regarding Chico?

It's Kojima! It's a sort of a catty, self-acknowledging, breaking-the-fourth-wall thing.

The melody is a tiny sliver off of being identical. I don't think it was done on purpose, but I respect the fact Kojima pulled it. Hopefully they'll stick with Snake Eater in future!

Kaz seems pretty impersonal for a 12 year old kid dying.

It wasn't retconned, MGS4 was the only time it was explained.

not allowing coop on bosses would be the solution for that problem!

Random thought occurs: Kojima MGS boss battles, now in an open world. Hnnng. Hoping for an even more massive sniper battle like The End, only with all the stuff this game has going on like the day/night cycle.

Well in terms of patrolling vehicles they appear to just be part of the world now. As for the main bosses, who knows. There was an ancient tweet where he listed all the previous boss themes with a question mark for the new one, so it won't be A.I. robots again for sure. It could well be the firey demon things, which could be pretty nuts, and we see Snake shoot one in the new trailer. Coop could definitely come in handy taking down the fire whale :p

I think they should have used Hayter for the MSF part of MGS5. The Ground Zeroes part. This would feel right since it's supposed to immediately take place after Peace Walker.

Didn't Kaz kinda betrayed Big Boss with that last tape from Peace Walker?

Spoilers! (For PW)

Kind of, but not really. Without going in depth, he was in on Cipher's charade from the get-go, and didn't let Snake know. The fact remains that he was there helping Snake with MSF from start to finish, though. He mentions that he saw Snake as a business partner, rather than a friend or an ally, and that this means that he himself is neither his ally nor his enemy. I think (if I remember correctly) that he changes his attitude towards Snake in this same scene, though.

Judging from Miller's reaction to Snake's almost-death in GZ - look at that wall punch! - and the fact that he goes back and helps Snake with whatever Diamond Dogs is nine years later, I think it's safe to assume that they're on good terms now.

Are you refering to the last scene or this tape I'm talking about?

Both, I guess. Even considering the fact that that phone call takes place after Kaz's revelation to Snake, I would hardly go so far as to call that a "betrayal." Snake and Zero aren't full blown enemies yet, so Kaz staying in contact with Zero doesn't really affect his relationship with Snake... yet.

This is interesting, though. Watching this tape again makes me anxious to see how Zero fits into MGSV.

Could Kaz betray Big Boss in Phantom Pain? He isn't around when BB wakes up, maybe he let the opposition know where BB's hospital is and that's why they attack.

Garbage: Huh, why did we suddenly sell thousands of copies of this two year old song on a random Tuesday afternoon?

Heh, I was surprised to hear them. I like Garbage, they hold a special place in my heart because I got into them at a young age. Very rarely listen to them now. Good one Kojima.

I doubt it... 9 years is a long time, I doubt he was at his bedside waiting the whole time. But yeah, in the context of your question, he COULD betray him, but I think it's unlikely.

Hilarious. I bet it's not far from how he really feels.

Well I expected at least an MGS6 on PS4... there seems to be a pattern, on PS2 we got 2 and 3 which were future and past, respectfully, now we have 4 and 5 on PS3 which are future and past, respectfully, so it would make sense for MGS6 to be on PS4 and to go even further beyond the events of MGS4 and Rising even.

There seems to be a pattern with the odd numbered games taking place in the past and the even numbered ones pushing the story forward.

Need some help understanding this. I might be missing something.

Is Snake in Ground Zeroes and Big Boss in Phantom Pain? Because he had gray hair in Ground Zeroes and brown hair in Phantom Pain. Not sure what's going on since Ground Zeroes is 9 years BEFORE Phantom Pain.

Would appreciate some clarification.

He never had grey hair in the Ground Zeroes demo, it was the lighting effect.

Big Boss is in both games, his hair looks grey on GZ because of the lightning and Kojima confirmed his hair is brown in GZ, I think there is a GZ comparison shot between night and day in where you can see his hair is brown.

Edit: well see below.

He says he's a business partner with Zero, not Snake.
