In two years Avengers 2 and Ant Man [first movie of phase 3].
According to the Phase 2 reel, Ant-Man is in Phase 2.
Avengers mainly deal with things related to earth. None of the Guardians are even fully human, IIRC.

I was looking at the concept art and thinking about how epic and awesome this thing might look and then....I remembered how Marvel movies these days all have that T.V low production value, crappy photography thing going on.
So now I'm thinking how much of a waste this thing will be, because an epic sci fi movie looking like that is just a crime.

Ah okay. Very interested to see how Ant Man turns out (given Edgar Wright is involved). Can't say I'm looking forward to Thor and Captain America really. IM3 looks pretty good thus far.
Its just a reel. They announced it long ago as a first movie of phase 3.

Honestly? I hope they get a professional voice actor to do Rocket. It takes a special talent to give an animated character life (see Gollum from LotR).

If you just care about GotG read Annihilation: Conquest - Star-Lord followed by Annihilation: Conquest. Then you can go straight into Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. #1.

Yup exactly. GotG has the potential to be a Star Wars level movie in every sense and if they do it right it will be. That's a big reason why I (and others who have read it and actually knew what this was before the movie was announced) are so excited.
They have to go the space opera route, that is what GotG is. If they set this on Earth like Green Lantern was then yeah it is going to suck...but the concept art makes it clear they are doing at least that part right.
Gamora is not the only girl on the GotG. I'm not sure if they will have more than the 5 they have shown in the artwork but my hunch is they must have at least a couple of the others. I would be pretty surprised if Mantis doesn't show up since she is just as much a main member as the 5 pictured.
Green Lantern has the potential to be a massive space opera and they set the entire film on Earth with a dumb and unmarketable badguy. This movie will not be the same.
Captain America 2 and GotG are the 2014 movies. Ant-Man is in 2015 after Avengers 2.
Avengers primarily just protect the Earth. The GotG protect the whole galaxy. It's much larger scale.

though I'm perfectly fine with Saldana (assuming she bulks up a bit) I am now secretly hoping she doesn't get it in favor of Paula. Never thought of that one before but it's pretty perfect.
