I have a feeling he will end up regretting his decision. He is flat out a fool for rejecting this role.

A lot of actors who try to play hardball with Marvel end up regretting it, Terrance Howard being the poster boy. At the end of the day it's usually better to have the role than to have nothing.

What breed would you guys like to see cast for Cosmo? I think a Golden Retriever would work great.

The what now? Also i don't know anything about you just posted.
He wanted more money than what he could bring to the table.

Howard went from making 3 mil a movie to 60k. But he had a bunch other shit going on to. But than again Momoa doesn't have Howard's talent or credits.

In the comics Cosmo is officially a Golden Retriever/Labrador mix...so they should use that.

Ive Never heard of this series. Does the movie tie in with Avengers or other major marvel characters?

In the comics they never really directly interacted with the Avengers. In the movie I am sure they will connect the films by having Thanos (dude at the end of Avengers 1) play a large role as he has interacted with the Guardians in the comics. Some other "Avengers villains" have also been villains for the GotG (like Ultron). For the most part though they are pretty separate and Marvel has stated they want to continue that separation in the movies as they want GotG to be able to stand as its own franchise so they aren't just producing Avengers stuff.

All that being said, there is a possibility that [one of the Avengers behind this curtain->]
Iron Man
may show up in the movie in some manner if rumours are to be believed.

I'm warming to Bautista. He's got the ridiculous comic-book physique we've all been missing with the likes of Evans and co.

Comic book physique is overrated.

I'll take a talented actor over Batista any day of the week (assuming Batista is as talented an actor as the average WWE wrestler).

This is one of the few Marvel properties I know nearly nothing about. So if it's good, I'll get to feel the way most of the world felt going into Iron Man 1.

Crazy that there are so many books and the universe is so big that in 20 years of reading, I've barely had any contact with these characters.

Most of the characters in GotG either had extremely small run minis decades prior and/or very few comic appearances and/or were created specifically for Guardians of the Galaxy. That's probably why you haven't heard of most of them before now.

I still love this. One of my favourite comic pages. We really need Richard Rider in the MCU. Nova movie next please (and/or appearance by him in GotG).

It'll never happen because Loeb will stick his fucking face in everyone's business again and we'll get his new pet Nova character.

Don't even joke about that.

Thankfully Loeb has been apparently barred from tampering with the MCU.

I dunno man, Marvel seem pretty big on synergy right now, so I'd expect any movie Nova to reflect the one currently in comics and animation...

Marvel is so big on synergy that the new GotG comic they are pushing is retconing things left and right, makes no sense with prior continuity, is in general shit all around, and thankfully nothing at all like the movie version they are making (Which is based on the actual good run from a few years ago).

Nova was Richard Rider in UMvC3. That must mean something.

Well of course I agree, just saying it's nice to see a guy who looks the part for a change :P

Besides, it's Drax. The role doesn't require too much acting prowess... depending on they play it, anyway.

I think it means development of that game predates the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon and the current comic series. :/

Well hey Johnny Pass-Aggs, I'm not reading the thing, but it's the same line-up, yes? "Guardians of the Galaxy" doesn't mean shit to anybody in the real world, but instead of just doing an Avengers with their top-tier space characters (your Novas, Adam Warlocks, Silver Surfers if they owned him in movies) they did the Annihilation-era line-up and look, which - retcons aside! - seems to be the basis of the current relaunch.

It's possible the Sam Alexander thing will crumble and they'll get Ricky Rhodes back in the helmet and spats in time for any movie appearance, but if they stick to the kid, or the movie appearance is any time soon, I'd expect them to Do as they've Done.

That...is a bit unfair. The new Nova and GoTG have just started coming out and so far are pretty solid.

I've not read any of the new Nova series as I have zero interest in Loeb's new pet character but I'm not impressed with the new GotG so far, particularly with how The Thanos Imperative was simply glossed over in typical Bendis fashion.

The new GotG comic has them all in different costumes while the movie versions are clearly the Abnett and Lanning iterations. The lineup is also not the same. Many old members are missing and they added Iron Man (Avengers should be nowhere near GotG, so that is really dumb). Yeah GotG means nothing to most people right now but it is clear the version they are going with here. The comic relaunch is clearly something else.

They really aren't. Star-Lord is essentially a completely different character from what he was before. They completely changed his relationship with his dad/feeling about him (for the worse), which is pure idiocy.

In regards to Nova, it doesn't matter how good or bad this new character is, he isn't Nova. It would be like if Iron Man wasn't Tony Stark. Yes I know others have been Iron Man but most people really only still identify Tony as the true "Iron Man". Apart from him just not being the character I want to read about he is also a dumb character (Epic Fail? Really?) and how he became a Nova makes no sense in regards to past continuity. In fact how there are any Novas at all right now makes no sense in regards to past continuity.

The dialogue of both books are huge steps down from the Abnett and Lanning era as well.

Do we even know if Nova will be in GOTG?

We do not, but he's rumoured. If GotG goes well then in all likelihood they will either try to launch him as a solo movie to intertwine with GotG or just make him a part of the GotG movies in the future.

I doubt Nova is in the movie, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Nova Corps were -- if the Guardians are supposed to be excons on the run, that must mean there's a police force chasing them.

If they are "ex-cons" like they were "ex-cons" in Annihilation: Conquest when this version of the team was established it is more just a reason to bring them all together than have some police force/the Nova corps actively chasing them.
