The Sun: PS4 will be released in October for £300

really? so english people pay £60 for new AAA games?
Nah, we dodge that at least. I was joking really, well, kind of.

Actually, they're getting better. I remember that PlayStation 3DTV was like a straight currency icon change I think. To be fair, I think it's a distribution thing, I remember EA giving a pretty exhaustive reason why the first Rock Band cost some insane price.

I think PS4 will be £350 and $450, which really isn't so bad, we'll see.

In expensive shops like game yes, but online 30-40 luckily.

And that's why I will stick to Amazon for PS4 games and why GAME will go out of business next gen. They didn't learn anything the last time they were in serious trouble and now deserve to go under if they don't change their pricing.

Doesn't Amazon get away with paying little to no tax in the United Kingdom? Or is that Starbucks? Either way, a bit hard to compete with that sort of competition.

it better be, Sony said they wouldn't price it high, that doesn't mean the UK still gets $599
PS3 was 400, so it BETTER be nowhere near 400, if US gets it for $300 we better on th low end of 200

Unless Sony release more than one model, this is never happening.

If Sony release one model it'll definitely be £350+.

It won't be £300 (unless there's a massive price war).

If it's $399 dollars..it'll be 399 euros then it'll be £349.

If it's $499 dollars..it'll be 499 euros then it'll be £429

A $399 price for the basic version isn't out of the question. It's what the 360 was at launch this gen..and Sony no longer have to deal with the crazy launch costs of blu ray.

It would make sense to announce your price/release date before E3 if you're not waiting until November to release. So this adds up with the April/early-May thing. My theory has long been that with a new PS and Xbox coming in the same year one would release before November, to get a little jump, but November is still the safe bet. This is only me talking about the release date, that reporter is certainly low on the price, and I don't think really knows anything.

£349 I can see max, £399 will be pushing it into PS3 launch price territory & £429 with no crazy launch costs of Blu-ray as you put it, Sony will be sending the PS4 to die at that price.

So, £400-500 confirmed then?
Sony is doomed confirmed if so

Ubisoft saying Assassin's Creed 4 will be released on PS4 on Oct 31st probably is more credible. They're also taking preorders for the game on PS4 with that date. Doesn't need to mean much, but still...

Interesting.I was going to pass on the PS4 this gen, but at this price I will definitely think twice.

However, as a reputable source, the Sun is not renowned for its journalistic integrity. The only British newspapers worse than the Sun are the Daily Mail and The Guardian.

October = Guesstimate, £300 no doubt = Guesstimate. Nice to see the sun doing their usual sterling job of passing on the facts.

This is the journalistic equivalent of a GAF thread being made quoting me, saying PS4 is going to be £300 after hearing it off a mate down the pub.

The... Sun ? as in the-sun.co.uk ? they only show news about UFOs, football and nude celebrities, basically they know s*** about videogames, gtfo please...

You might want to look it up. Then you'll understand why.

Relax, guy. Everyone makes mistakes.

Two facts to consider:

1 - Everyone working at the Sun with direct responsibility for that article is long gone. It's the same paper in name only.

2 - Whilst the Liverpool fans certainly WERE NOT the catalyst of the disaster, you can hardly say they were entirely blameless.

Wow. Despite what I think of this post, this isn't the time or place.

What did the fans do wrong ?
