Yeah the cartridge was in really good shape otherwise with a really shiny label without any scratches etc, so that makes it suck extra much. Why couldn't it have been the backside instead?! Then I could've just bought a cheap SMB cart or something and swapped it out. Oh well. At least it wasn't a rare and expensive game.

Yeah, that's better than what most have been going for recently. I spied an auction for it on gamegavel with a starting bid of $30 a few days ago and thought about mentioning it. It still has about a day left on it with zero bids. Link here. Wish he just outright listed the shipping price on the listing. Oh well. Gamegavel isn't as convenient as ebay and is nowhere near as populated, but you can find some deals occasionally
Totally snagged a copy of Mega Man 4 off Craigslist for $8 yesterday. That felt good.

Nice. I picked up a pretty scuffed up copy of Contra III for $22 a month or two ago. It has either something like a burn or something. It looks weird.
In any case, that copy of Sunset Riders sounds right up your alley, too.

It is! Quest of Ki was one of the first games I imported after I got my AV Famicom, and it was a blast to play through.

I made my own NES cart of ToD using a Famicom converter and still play it from time to time.
Also, I just saw this crazy video the other day and am dying to know its origin (some doujin game, I think).
So i've started to go back and look for old Nintendo Power mags with the posters still intact. Not just for collection purposes though, but for the fact that i'd really be interested in reading old previews, reviews, and general news from back in the day.
Not to mention they might reveal a hidden gem or two.

i was lucky enough to pick up a few years worth off craigslist for $20 last year; mostly early N64 but a handfull of SNES classics. i had to put up the Super Metroid & Castlevania 3 posters!
but yeah, PAK watch & several other sections just take me back so hard
i gotta disagree here; i subscribed for the last year or so and thought it was pretty good - magazine had its own identity & was doing some interesting stuff, given that print hadn't been able to keep up with net stuff for years. kinda wish i hadn't fallen off for a while there.

I second that. I received my first Nintendo Power issue in July 1988, so I go way back. I own 225+ issues of Nintendo Power and I can safely say that the last few years, under the helm of Future Publishing, the magazine reached its apex. Sure, the SNES and NES eras featured Nintendo's best games (for retro collectors like ourselves), but it was still a thinly veiled publicity extravaganza. Still, I love those early magazines to death and enjoy going through them for nostalgia reasons, but from an entertainment/content standpoint the last few years were amazing. Gotta love those interviews!

As for your game, you'll need the security bit to open it up and go to town on the contacts more than qtips and alcohol ever can.

If you want a drop in replacement, you need a CR2032 with tabs.
Or, you can install a battery holder and drop in any normal CR2032 in.

$15 can make a nice dent in a pricier title. I got conker bad fur day for $72 dollars last night, but $10 in eBay bucks made it a little better.
I'm mulling over Demon's Crest at the moment, but I fear it may eventually drop in price.

I just got $50 in eBay bucks, myself. I'm not sure what I want to get with it; Saturn games are similarly pricey to SNES games, y'see, and Dragon Force is kinda tempting... but right now, I'm leaning toward biting the bullet and trying my hand for Earthbound before its price skyrockets any further.
Only issue is trying to nab it for $150 or less when so many people are seemingly okay with the insane $200+ prices. Hell, I bid on a new arrival last night with a max bid of $120, and it was outbid within an hour.

I should have jumped on earthbound with my tax refund, but it went to other things. I hope it doesn't get too much higher before I get it.
The game selling for $200 all day should be telling Nintendo to do anything with the franchise, but oh well.

I use Mother's brand mag & aluminum polish to scrub the contacts of my games. You'd be surprised at the amount of corroded black shit comes off some of them.
Also, it's way more effective than the alcohol and q-tip method. All my games boot fine the first time.

I'll have to look into the polish. I've been using 99.99% isopropyl all these years and it's been pretty reliable.
Also, got Xardion today for $6.99. Seems okay.
So far the lesser known SNES games I try to find end up being just okay, whereas I was constantly finding crazy cool NES games.

Am I missing something about Mega Man X? A copy I've been watching on ebay is now up to $51 before shipping. Bad bidding? Did someone buy up a ton of copies and crush them as a stunt? Another copy I'm watching is up to $36 before shipping.

looks like a few people are trying to get the price up with $30+ copies but the majority are still selling in the $15-20 range
On the Canadian side of ebay I havn't seen many copies of Mega Man X go for less than $30 after shipping since late January when I set up a search. Most the copies I've watched over the last two months or so have gone for $30+ before shipping, too.
