Dengeki has a preview out with direct feed screens and stuff. Some additional details about the game too. Unfortunately it seems that the game won't actually have anime scenes like previously reported by Famitsu, but rather Kou Yoshinari is just directing and animating a brand new animated opening video. Oh well. :(

Look at these amazing 3DS graphics:

The characters look better here than they do in the anime.

Is that normal? I don't normally compare anime art to game art.

Well, it sure looks like Devil Survivor 2!

Still, I'm looking forward to this being localized. Skipping out on the original release was worth it, given all the new content in this one.

I was confused for a while and thought it said they broke sale records. I was like it's out already? Then reality kicked in and I am broken.

The Dengeki preview does seem to confirm that the new scenario for Break Record will be "equivalent to the content of a new game" though. It also says like similar to the original game, the new scenario will also have various choices you can make and lead to multiple endings.

I thought the game was literally "breaking records" ( ._ .)

The title likely has to do with the Akashic Record plot point in the original.

I doubted they were going to do anything the with the graphics. Waiting to see how much new content there really is.

Also the characters in the game look a bit younger in the game than they do in the anime.

Loved the first iteration. This is a pre-order the day Atlus sends me an email that pre-orders are available.

This game was a little disappointing to me compared to the first, but it was still a fun game, and I will totally buy this if it is released here.

I encourage everyone who plays this to play your MC as silly and dumb as possible.

Yes, I agree. The story wasn't as good as DS1, but the MC's crazy response options totally made up for it. Really funny stuff!

I just lost it at the one where the options given are "Nope" and "Meow". That's just incredible.

The 'Pervert!' running gag was amazing. I pray the anime version will be that hilarious.

awesome ♪

I really loved overclocked (its one of my all time favorite 3DS games) so a 3DS remake of DS2 suits me fine. If Brian Beacock doesn't voice Daichi I will lose my sh-

temper.

I really can't wait for this game.

I'm actually kind of unsure of whether or not this'll get localized. I'm generally resistant to upmakes but I got DS2 for cheap so I'm less reticent here. I know that Overclocked got localized, but I remain skeptical for this.

At the same time, DS2 has yet to release in Europe, right? Perhaps there's a reason for that.

Why the hell don't they use the top screen.
Most likely they didn't plan ahead and the backgrounds and other assets were made with a 4:3 aspect ratio. (The top screen has a 5:3 aspect ratio and has more than double the width of the bottom screen in terms of pixels.)

But almost all the battle backgrounds are either partially 3D, and they also scroll. For event scenes they could just put a frame around it like the original game already does for some stuff. Let's not forget, Devil Survivor 2 was announced AFTER Devil Survivor Overclocked, and everyone already complained about the lazy 3DS porting back then.

Instead of working on the graphics, they chose to put the effort into making an expansion scenario instead. Lol.

Hinako's responses to your silly responses were gold.

This makes me want to finish my second playthrough of DS2 now, but I can wait until this is localized, and released.

It totally will be. Right?

Perhaps they didn't plan to do an expanded version of 2, due to poor sales of Overclocked and other factors, until the anime deal was made.

The silly dialogue choices are great. They make me want to resume my playthrough. Although I've forgotten what happened so far, so maybe I'll just wait for this to come out.

But Overclocked wasn't out at that time. People were just unhappy that the port they announced looked so cheap. If they were developing a sequel on the DS at that time, and they were putting out a shit port of the original game on the 3DS, it would totally make sense that they expected that the sequel would eventually be ported to the 3DS too!

There really aren't any excuses here!

Really enjoyed the first one but skipped the second after hearing it was more or less the same game. Think I'm ready to play it again anyways so I'll be picking this up day 1.

I'm not trying to excuse it, just trying to understand why it turned out this way. Honestly, I don't mind because I don't care about 3D at all. Having a bigger view of the battlefield would be nice, though.
