it's definitely not going to be an evolution

there are only two possibilities in my mind: a new clone of Mew (or maybe Mewtwo?) or an alternate forme of Mewtwo


however you feel about the design, I think the concept lore-wise is pretty cool

But what if it was? Maybe not a mew evo, since Mew became like every pokemon, but Mewtwo, since it's
1. The only Mewtwo
2. Man-made, so it's capabilities are completely unknown to any and everyone

I've been thinking about getting Pokedex 3D Pro while it's on sale. What are the odds the X/Y roster gets added later for free? I don't want to buy two things if possible.

I think it'd be neat if it was a new Pokémon. Like what if there were multiple Mew-related experiments going on in that lab, and now we're seeing another one.

Maybe. I think I'd be more interested if it were more nature taking over from the scientists tbh; Mew gaining its own evolution line would be interesting.

I don't know how accurate this is but it was posted on r/pokemon 4 hours before this show, and the "Mewtwo Y" turns out to look just like what was just announced. Might mean there's 1 more coming.

It wouldn't be so bad if it was just truly a form change thing. Still be silly to add, but maybe at least it would give Mewtwo's moveset an interesting revamp for both the game and Smash, as well.

Considering how they handle this for previous gens they'll have to think of some crazy obtuse way to evolve mew. Equip the DNA Packet X to mew and level up while fighting a friend's mew equipped with a DNA Packet Y.

No, I mean, this new Pokémon looks like a more streamlined Mewtwo -- something between Mew and Mewtwo. In other words, if Mew evolved from its cute cuddly form into something stronger, this new Pokémon would fit the bill, no?
