Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | April 2013 | Sacrifice your Independent Soul

Maybe we'll get another stealth release like that Atelier game.

given that the stealth release of the atelier game was digital only, it wouldn't count as a retail release even if it was of retail quality and price :P

edit: top of the page recommendation, ask the gaming gods for a soul sacrifice demo for this week's store update o.o;

Did you miss Sony's E3 conference last year? I'm betting this year will be about the same for Vita owners.

Did u miss the whole joke of moving flagposts in my post? I didn't paid any attention to E3 though but heard a lot of backlash. Gamescom redeemed them a bit.

E3 2012 for Vita was embarrassing. At the press conference they announced Assassin's Creed III: Liberation (which leaked the weekend before), and Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified. The latter with no screenshots/trailer. Vita wasn't ever mentioned again. Sony had too many interactive movies to show off.

Please...please...

Knowing SCEA though, they will probably release it AFTER the game is released >.<''.

Blunderbook?

Actually i think the backlash from both media and fans last year´s E3 will force them to feature Vita in a meaningful way this E3.

PS4 is big enough news that they will get mainstream media coverage any time they announce a press conference between now and launch. If they're smart, they use that to their advantage and only loosely organize a PS4 game showing at E3 and largely feature the Vita. I'm assuming Sony has a few tricks for Vita this year, unannounced. That's what I have to believe for now. Whether that is the truth? I don't know.

Moving flagposts? E3 last year actually wasn't that bad in the end, but the conference itself was very disappointing. Sony probably spent a total of 5 minutes on the Vita, and that's including the mandatory montage. I can see the same thing happening this year since the PS4 will most likely be the main focus...

Yeah, that's not going to happen. :/

It would be pretty sad if that PC Gaming rumor is true and Sony hosts a PS4 conference in May, and still ignores Vita at E3. At the PlayStation Meeting I really got the sense that they've given up on native software for Vita, and will legitimately think Gaikai is an option for every Vita owner.

"Want to play games released in 2014 on that handheld you own? Well, you better buy this $400 accessory!"

this would imply that sony actually cares about the vita anymore now and actually see it as something more than an add on controller for the ps4 or an indie machine o.O;

I find it hard to believe that no one is making games for it. :-\ We have had a few announcements (lame mickey) but nothing for the holiday season. Tearaway is coming in october so is Killzone.

Sony may be holding some of the games that may be revealed at E3. Only time will tell.

Maybe we will see GR2 or U:GA2?
Not gonna happen

I wonder if a Sony rep ever reads this particular NeoGAF thread.
haven't been touching my Vita.. too overwhelmed by schoolwork -melps-

I see no reason to believe that Sony will learn from its mistakes.

E3 will be just like last year, except even worse, because this time the press won't even question Sony's decision to make Vita an afterthought. Sony's already done infinitely more for PS4 than Vita awareness-wise (an extended spot on Fallon for Christ's sake) and we don't even have a release date for it yet.

The Vita's biggest release this year is coming out day and date with one of this generation's biggest surefire hits. And to put the cherry on top, they're counter-programming the aforementioned biggest Vita release of the year with a shinier, much more anticipated PS4 launch counterpart (which was also featured on Fallon, go figure!). Which one do you think is getting the ten minute on-stage gameplay demonstration at E3, and which one will get a ten second sneak peek as part of a sizzle reel only available on the Playstation Blog? Tough choice

So yeah, that (and common sense) tells me all I need to know about their "strategy" moving forward.

to be fair at this time the best thing sony could do to "save" the vita would likely be make the ps4 super popular and get people on board for using the vita for off screen play, and if that happens then work on releasing a bunch of vita games for gaming on the go after there is actually an install base big enough to care about.

the vita failing won't ruin sony, but if the ps4 flops as well after refocusing on the gaming division, it could lead to some seriously dark times for sony. they need everything about the ps4 to go right, so of course it will be the main focus of everything until it releases.

I get that Vita was hardly the main focus of their E3 last year, but simply saying they ignored it isn't true. Combine the fact that (TLoU and Beyond aside) they were focusing on 2012 releases, and that E3 is the most mainstream event (so we weren't exactly gonna be getting a blowout on P4G) of the gaming calendar, and what we got wasn't bad. PSASBR Vita announcement was good, if inevitable, and that was the biggest first-party release for the Vita last autumn. AC3L got an announcement and footage, and was the biggest third-party release, and CoD got announced at least - which is enough when they had barely even started working on the game.

Sure Gamescom was better, but there was only really Twaraway and Killzone there, and both of those are SCEE games so announcing those at a SCEE event makes sense. Yes, I would've loved to have seen more Vita at E3, but if there are no games to announce (especially from SCEA, who don't seem to give a crap about Vita), it doesn't make a whole lot of difference.

The Vita also had a decent sized section dedicated to it at last year's E3. It may not have gotten much coverage by the media, but it was there.

Gamescom proved your assumption wrong.

Yes, PS4 will be front and center but there will be Vita game announcement. I´m expecting Uncharted, GR, AC, COD maybe a new announcement. After the shit storm that happened last year because the absence of the Vita, i don´t think Sony will repeat it. I hope for E3 like 2009 where there were plenty of PSP news and announcements. Jack Tretton needs to go though. I can´t stand him.

Where do you guys keep your extra memorycards. They're soooo small!

i keep my extra 4gb in my case, though I don't imagine i will ever use it again. I just keep it around in case there is some point when i absolutely have to get something off the japanese or EU store... which isn't very likely but hey it doesn't hurt to have around...

or maybe they will fix the bubble reset issue and I could keep all the small simple PSM/free to play games I don't care to boot up on instead of taking up a number of spaces on my vita, though if they fix the bubble reset I expect folders so they could just go in a folder called SIDCA (stuff I don't care about)

Same here,I see dust more and more on my Vita these days,it's really sad because Vita was the only handheld I liked and I was aple to play (thanks to screen and dual sticks)I'll sell my Vita very shortly because there is a serious lack of retail games

Here is what is coming to Vita (retail releases) till the end of this year in the west (NA and Europe).

this is a beyond pathetic really, only 12 games(2 of them might be Europe only), and I can see game stores dropping PSvita very soon, this is almost Virtual Boy situation.

and E3 will not fix this,Vita might get 4 new games if we are lucky like a new FIFA or a new AssCreed but I doubt we'll get anything else (most of SCE studio are on PS4 now and third party will not risk it if it's not without a publishing deal with Sony) not everyone like indie games it's just really bad for everyone involved here.

I blame SCEWWS and Shu Yoshida for this, because he didn't fully supported the platform in its first year like any company will do (instead they kept supporting PS3 like crazy) if they showed more effort on Vita in 2012 thing wont be as bad as this, now it's over third party will not return to Vita unless if a miracle happen.

I see no reason to believe that Sony will learn from its mistakes.

PS4 will be their focus now on (as it should be),they made a huge mistake last year by pushing PS3 over their new handheld for no reason and they can't undo that.

SCEE will be the same as SCEA from now on,Teraway and KZ:M are just small projects from a small studio and a small team within a small studio it really don't mean SCEE is any better and I fully see them throwing Cambridge to PS4 too.

Happy new Vita owner here. Love the screen quality, haven't got any Vita games yet but will do after making my way through the three PSN Persona games and Grandia 1. Just wanted to ask about a couple of things?

Wasn't there an uproar at one point about the system also deleting save files when deleting downloaded games? Has that been fixed? I took off the first Persona game to make way for the second and I'm pretty sure the save data is still on the system. :/

Is there an easy way to transfer data from one memory card to another? I'm on a 4 gig right now but will go for a 32 as soon as a good offer pops up (£45 or so), just wondering about the save data on my current one. :)

the save data thing is just with vita games (not psp/ps1 games) and it's because the vita for some reason saves the game data in the bubble for downloaded games, meaning if you delete the bubble you delete the save. Uploading your save to PS+ cloud is an easy way to not lose your save.

as for transferring data... you can just back up to a pc/ps3 and then paste to the next memory card after you switch, you will lose your bubble position but i think everything else will be the same.

CMA full backup is the easy way here since you don't have to worry about anything, but it will take long time even for a 4GB card.

Meh what's that doom doing in our topic ? ;)

Sony can't do much without major software releases - doing price drops now would only kill effect.

Instead they will probably do major relaunch in September.

September - price drop+ Killzone
October - Tearaway + new AC + PS4 launch
November - real CoD + Uncharted GA 2
December - Hot Shots Gol/Tenis/whatever

Price drop is never a bad idea,it will encourage third party of porting their games at least.

there will be no relaunch,Sony have PS4 to push and all their money is inside that basket right now.

November - real CoD + Uncharted GA 2
December - Hot Shots Gol/Tenis/whatever[

Activision was disappointed with Wii U and WiiU COD did better than Vita COD so unless there is a deal between them and Sony there will be no COD,and I doubt that Sony will throw $12 million again.

Hot Shot Tennis is dead,Clap Hanz Tennis game bombed on both PSP and PS2,and a new Hot Shot Golf will be most likely for PS4 and not for Vita.

Yeah but the Vita COD was presumably the worst COD in the history of CODs whereas the one on WiiU was only a port of a decent multiplat episode.

Uh, no it didn't.

thanks for the correction.

I still don't see a real COD coming for Vita, the sales for Vita version (bad or good it was still a test) were still not that good and I don't think Activition care enough to let one of their studios port it without Sony help.

LoL what ? You might need to check your numbers from what we know Cod Vita > any wii U third party game.

thanks for the correction.

It's >300k in USA retail only (and well above ACL) so globaly it should be close to ACL or higher.

Release Vita 2000 with TV out
New bigger mem cards introduced 64 and 128 GB for the price of 99 and 129$ respectively, and lower the price of mem cards on the rest. Phase out the 4 GB, and put the 8 GB for 20$ instead.
Announce more games (GTA side story, GT, GOW)
Have a constant release of games, whether indy or large physical games.

We can dream.

Only 12 games coming out. Wow either Vita players are elite gamers burning thru games are they have an over inflated sense of entitlement. How many games should be released? One a month or more?

Is this sarcasm, or do you think anyone on this forum will buy the LEGO 3DS ports, and Epic Mickey?

2-3 each month at least - that way you have redundancy for people with diffrent tastes.

Uh, no it didn't.

I spent like 15 minutes putting together a complete argument against it, and you correct it with just a simple no it didn't :/

feel free to ignore my post but darn it i searched around for the data for a while :/

Activision was disappointed with Wii U and WiiU COD did better than Vita COD so unless there is a deal between them and Sony there will be no COD,and I doubt that Sony will throw $12 million again.

toto I know you have odd views on things from time to time, but usually you have some sort of logic to it, this one just baffles me.

For starters as far as I can find activision has never actually said they were disappointed with the wii U it appears that the disappointment was based off a Calvil Hall post, and it was later proven that it was a fabricated post.

Second.... unless you are talking ratings wise I haven't a clue where you are getting call of duty wiiu did better than the vita.

the wiiu's first week sales numbers were estimated at 23k (source is a banned site with nintendo in the name, so likely not accurate but even more likely to be higher than they actually were)

the vita cod managed 118,615 sales in the uk sales charts

and I know a certain vg video game chart site is also a banned site, but it's numbers tend to at least give an idea of how a game sold. the vita version is at 680,000 world wide, and the wiiu version is at 170,000 world wide.

The idea that the vita version sold better shouldn't be surprising, it was a bundled game last fall, and was a unique entry for call of duty instead of a slightly late port of COD on a system where most people didn't have any friends on to play MP with. I really can't find even a tiny sign that the wiiu version might have done better than the vita version sales wise. if sony paid 12 mil for the vita COD game I highly doubt the wiiu version was more profitable for activision either. so yeah... where in the world are you getting your info this time?

btw in regards to vita doom and gloom
both the wiiu and vita have 9 games listed on the game faqs release chart at this time... the ps3 has 39. the vita does need new games, sony also needs to in general allow gifting on the psn so we can force games upon people MWA HA HA HA HA

@ zulux21,Takao corrected my on the sale numbers already.

still will Acti even let one of their studio port a full COD game to Vita when it don't do their usual zillion number? but I guess we can see a port if Sony paid.

So I take it I'm the only one excited about the upcoming PSN titles on the Vita?

There are many who care about that, but this don't make the retail releases (and Vita with third party publishers) situation any good.

So I take it I'm the only one excited about the upcoming PSN titles on the Vita?

Hell yeah:

Spelunky
Hotline Miami
Lone Survivor
Binding of Isaac (?)

Hope Shovel Knight makes it to the Vita. :D
