Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | April 2013 | Sacrifice your Independent Soul

All we've heard so far is that its pretty short from Kassatsu (5 hours to beat it, 15 hours to platinum). Embargo is up Tuesday at midnight so we should see some reviews before it releases.

Ah, thanks.

This week's The Drop is up. I don't think we're ever getting a Soul Sacrifice demo, guys.

I wouldn't be surprised if we did, but day and date with the full game. That seems to be a pretty common practice on Vita.

New vita owner here, such a sexy piece of hardware. Grabbed a ps plus membership again. Lasted about 2 weeks with a 4 gb card had to pick up a 32 gb one. Played some uncharted ga it's alot better than I expected; could do without the touch controls though. Picked up a bunch of ps1 rpg classics, trails in the sky and sine mora ( which is a great shmup) during the mar. psn promo. Lovin the vita and this thread!

The demo came to japan 2 months before release I believe. The demo does have a lot of content would be pointless putting it out on the release day.

it would have a point, it would be what I play until there is a price drop on soul sacrifice instead of preordering the game because I enjoyed the demo :/

I'm not going to blind preorder a new IP when I have such a large backlog, but if they put out a demo and I enjoyed it I would preorder it.

You don't really have to go into SS blind though. We have pretty extensive impressions of the demo on GAF alone.

What's that?

Nice. I've been juggling two 16gb cards which I HATE since I have to turn off the system to change cards and I can't customize my homescreens since it resets the placement of the icons every time you switch cards. VERY annoying. Anywho, welcome to the Vita thread! Oh yeah, Sine More is INDEED great. Love it and it looks sooo good on Vita.

WELP

I stole that from Reddit.

however a Sony anime studio put a fake DS/3DS in their anime.

So I have never played Persona, These are the prices on AU psn
Persona $7.35
Persona 2&3 $33.25

Is it worth playing any of these or should I just get P4G?

Persona 2 and 3 are bundled together? That's strange.

Persona 1 and 2 play fairly differently from Persona 3 and 4. I'd recommend playing through P3 before going to P4G.

no matter how the impressions sound I can never be sure if I will enjoy it.
for example the impressions of demon's souls sounded great, something I would really enjoy, and it is one of the games I consider most over rated, and one of my least favorite games I have played this gen. (Ps: it's not because it was to hard, I only died once in my few hours of playing, I just didn't even remotely enjoy how the combat felt)

From the impressions I know that I want to play soul sacrifice at some point, but I am in no way sold to put up my money full price day 1. I have a limited gaming budget, only games I am sure I will really enjoy, or that I am sure won't go down in price any time soon (see NisA LE) get my preorders.

I was really hoping I would get a soul sacrifice demo this week so I could finally know if it would be worth the money, as part of me is leaning towards putting my gaming budget for the month towards soul hackers (also $40) instead.

Thanks for the replies, so Persona 1 holds up alright then?

You can buy them separately, but then they are $20 each.

I thought the PSO2 sliver bundle was the only one sold out? Then again I thought it was the red and blue colors were selling well too?

Silver Vita was limited edition anyway so it's sold out for an obvious reason.
The other ones high in demand are red/blue/white ones. They keep bouncing back & force
between now available and out of stock at major retailers in Japan.

IMO blue and red ones aren't that attractive but seems like I'm the minority :P

Finally got around to buying DJ Max Technika Tune. Went for the physical version due to its large size.

I also disagree with the P3P haters. I owned FES aswell but preferred the portability of P3P.

Does anyone else get ill whenever they browse the PSN store on their PS3? My vita was in the other room, so I checked my PS+ downloads on the PS3 and even with the promising patch update, the store runs like a modern app on an old 286DX computer. I can't believe they haven't fixed how janky it runs by now, iI guess they bit off more then they could chew and they don't wanna back down.

^Yes, the new store is absolutely horrid and no one should ever use that over the Web Store ever

Wait...so are you saying...demand is not tapering off? Because I don't think my body can handle a higher Vita baseline.

I'd say just get P4G and if you like it go back and play P3P. I bought P2, P3P and P4G and planted to go through them in order since I already beat the ps2 version for 3 and 4 and loved them. However Persona 2 has not aged well at all, the story and premise is very interesting but the gameplay is archaic. There are lots of battle and everything is very slow. Even choosing menu options has some lag in them which I couldn't stand. Now I'm stuck with 10hrs in P2 IS which I'm not enjoying but my OCD doesn't allow me to start another persona game until I finish it so I've just been playing Suikoden in stead, aged much better than P2.

Not really - it's feels like prehistoric dungeon crawler which it is ;)
Also none of the fancy s-links building from P3/P4.

It is playable but by modern standards 7/10 maybe.

Interface is sharp, quick loading and seems pretty cool from first 5 hours I've played. Vita screen & only $7.95 makes for pretty good buy.

Can we talk when you are 30 hours in? ;)

I finished it on PSP and after some time i was feeling sick at the prospect of negotiating with even one more demon :D

According to an article posted on Siliconera, PS Vita dungeon crawler Demon Gaze may see a release in the west.

Demon Gaze may be next on Kadokawa Games’ localization list. The publisher filed a trademark for Demon Gaze in the U.S. for use with video games. Experience, the game’s developer, made other DRPGs like Labyrinth Cross Blood Reloaded and Students of the Round. The question is who will localize these titles? Atlus? Xseed? Aksys?

...and the Fox News-esque perverted sex simulator posts came almost immediately. :(

By most accounts this is very accessible "Wizardry" style RPG made by a developer who's been doing these kind of games since the PS2 era. It's great we're getting this if true (well, hopefully Europe is included in the release plans too).
