Who is Charli XCX?
Charlotte Aitchison is an English singer-songwriter who expressed her musical talents at an early age. She has since been recognized and signed by the IAMSOUND music label. "XCX" is supposed to be short for "Kiss Charli Kiss" because her label thought "X-rated Cunt X-rated" was to offensive. The latter is better tbh. Charli exudes a grungy aura that permeates into her visual work. You can compare Charli XCX to some of her contemporaries which include Grimes, Sky Ferreira, Azealia Banks, Marina & The Diamonds, and Icona Pop (who, btw, she wrote a genius song for called "I Love It"). Charli describes her music as a "split between dark, mystical pop and this glorious, magical, hip-hop angel music."

True Romance is Charli XCX's debut album and is out April 15 in the UK and April 16 in the US. It is a conglomeration of her previous work and new material. At least half of the songs on the album can be found on her previous mixtapes and EPs, but they will be remastered/reworked for the new album.
What Charli has to say about ha album:

"I am so happy to have finished this record. For me, it's a very emotional album. I suppose I kind of grew up through the process of writing this record and as I've grown my views on love and life have been constantly changing. Each song is about love in some shape or form, whether that be euphoric love, heartbreak or obsession. Every corner of my own romantic history is explored on this record, so for me it's very raw, it's very honest and it's very true. I've written a pop record from the heart, and when people hear it I hope they want to dance and cry at the same time."

Not expecting much out of this. I've really liked "You" (her best song by far), "Nuclear Seasons" and "You're the One" so I'd at least like to hear what's been reworked on the older two, but her other stuff falls flat for me.

The Burns remix of "You" is so fantastic and is honestly the only good remix of the song.

At first I was a little overwhelmed by hee, but her music has just grown on me. Her songs are incredibly catchy.

Nuclear seasons is the only song I have on my phone of hers and as such its been getting regular plays, but that intro is flawless

Yes, that is the only one I skipped (and Cloud Aura too because it sounded exactly the same). Oop.

They changed the beginning of What I Like. I'm not sure if I'm okay with that.

I think I can safely conclude that this will be my go-to summer album.
