Holy shit. 4000 tickets sold? Sick fucks.
I'm more curious to know if any unsuspecting parents took their children to it. Hah!
Holy shit. 4000 tickets sold? Sick fucks.
So a lot of that stuff IS marketed to males while MLP was\is marketed to little girls.
EDIT: If your life revolves around any of those and you go into creepy fan mode I'm still going to find it weird but accept it.

No one in the hospitality industry should be subjected to that."Oh no! A bunch of people who like something I don't decided to have a convention dedicated to that thing!"

Not so sure about those examples, especially GTA4. A better example would be a game like Heavy Rain. Still, you are right most games are targeted towards younger audiences but those being around late teen and 20 somethings, especially when they're "M" rated and not even intended for those under the age of 18.That's a very small minority of games, and an even smaller minority of popular games. The vast majority of games are aimed at teens, followed by kids. Let's not pretend that Gears of War is aimed at adults, okay? Dostoyevsky is aimed at adults. Kubrick is aimed at adults. The only recent AAA games I can think of that even attempt to be mature are the Bioshock series, the MGS series, and GTA4/RDR.
You guys don't know who plays games or who they are marketed to. It's not a mystery to unravel, I'm sure anyone involved in marketing in the industry will tell you where the money is. MLP is really geared towards the pre-adolescent girls. Personally, I say live and let live. I don't understand someone obsessed with this cartoon and even moreso, people who sexualize ponies or any animal for that matter. I wouldn't exactly call myself normal - I'm far from it - but that latter just kind of strikes me even as creepy.

So they can like it without issue, it's when they like it too much that it becomes a problem? I don't get this line of thinking. Are people just irked that they don't enjoy anything as much as bronies enjoy MLP?
"You are only allowed to have fun up to a certain level of enjoyment. Any enjoyment and expression thereof that exceeds said level shall hereby label you 'weird' and/or 'creepy' and/or 'obsessed'. These labels shall make it acceptable for you to be insulted and mocked for having too much fun. If you wish to shed such labels you must reduce your level of fun down to the socially accepted level."
You're moving the goalposts. You said they were aimed primarily at teenagers and children, and you're wrong. Then out of nowhere I'm challenged to defend a non-existent belief that Gears of War's story is "adult" by measure of it's "maturity", as if that has anything to do with what you claimed.Who cares about marketing? I'm talking about the actual content of the games. You don't need an adult maturity level to get the most out of Gears of War. You do in order to get the most out of Crime and Punishment. Now, plenty of adults don't advance beyond a teenage level of maturity until their 40s, and plenty of teens have an adult level of maturity by 16.
Go on an intelligent program like NPR's Fresh Air and tell them Gears of War is an adult game because it's marketed to adults.
Guys, guys, guys. You're taking the pony porn "clopper" stuff way too seriously. That shit was started by /b/. It's their sense of humor: take something wholesome and make porn out of it. I can't believe I have to explain this stuff on a gaming forum.
Well, pretty much what I said. Most games, especially those rated "M" are meant for those 18 and older and that means, adults. Of course, those games highly appeal to the adolescent and pre-adolescent crowd and there's no mistake most publishers/developers know this as well. Games really can't be compared to MLP unless we're talking about games specifically designed for much younger audiences, like.... uh.... an MLP video game. You guys don't know who plays games or who they are marketed to. I won't judge you too much for identifying strongly with something that appeals to a child's sensibilities, as long as you don't start taking pictures of a pokeball in your rectum.

Pokemon is a world of difference from MLP. It has a lot more depth, yes, and it's targeted for both male and female children, unlike MLP who's creator even says 'this is a cartoon for little girls.' I also like JRPGs, Transformers movies, Marvel, Star Wars.... all things actually targeted to a younger audience. And then of course it all comes down to these points:I got one for you

Most people who play/watch it don't call themselves pokemon masters though. Those who identify as one are creepy.
This is a weird tangent. The issue for some of us hasn't been the watching of the show it's been the lack of self-awareness with people who wrap their identity up in the show.
You guys watch way too much cable news. That is really all I have left to contribute to this thread without repeating myself for the zillionth time. You're cynical and media-influenced to the point where you can't possibly fathom men doing anything that detracts from them getting laid.
Ah, one other thing. I've seen the first season of Adventure Time, and it is definitely aimed towards children. The original short was more subversive, but the TV show incorporates the typical themes and scenarios of children's cartoons. MLP's primary theme, "friendship is magic", is (predictably) a common fixture of Adventure Time as well. But hey, I guess it's okay because it's a little boys show.

Probably compared to MLP, I would imagine. I honestly never played a Pokemon game but isn't it a bit stat heavy. I was thinking of the Pokemon games and not the animation, so my mistake as I failed to mention that.HA!!!! Are this for serious?

I had been responding to a specific point, not the entire thread. This is a weird tangent. The issue for some of us hasn't been the watching of the show it's been the lack of self-awareness with people who wrap their identity up in the show.
Yeah, right. THAT's why people are disturbed by overly obsessive bronies, because of their gender biases. Adventure Time fans don't introduce themselves as "Adventurers"
Yes, that's what I meant. Please read the post above your's.Gameplay wise , yes because MLP isnt a game. Story wise, you are a lie, and you know you are stop it.

I don't see your point, they gave themselves a nickname big woop.

Bronies are vocal and a minority, yes.I was just wondering if anyone here has heard of the word "Vocal Minority"?
Vocal minority , and people who aren't you so you shouldn't care how they live their lives.
We done here?
It has less to do with caring about how others live their lives, and more to do with others being socially inept.
People around us help shape the culture we live in. So yes. The way others live their lives does affect your life.

I have a creepy obsession with bronies
This...
I don't see how it is so hard to understand. Most people are not knocking anyone for watching it. I watched it at one point and thought it was good but my interest faded. Being a fan is one thing, hell I don't even care if you call yourself a brony or anything but when people get wrapped up and do things like that youtube video, the NSFW image linked, and anything like that. Well then that is a bit disturbing.
I'm just curious what Lauren Faust thinks of all this.
So.... by seedier, anything mentioned in that Howard Stern video I just watched.IIRC she had no problems with the expanded audience but wanted no exposure to the seedier side of stuff.

I got one on the DS to check it out just out of curiosity and you aren't missing much.
It's just a boring turn based jrpg. Combat is super simple, characters and script are super simple. Catching and getting the pokemans to evolve is the only hook.
