Feng Li is pretty cool.

I just realized SG could use a Viewtiful Tokusatsu character complete with a Rider Kick / Falcon Punch.

Mario with Tanuki suit.

I'm starting to really feel Molly. Might add her in the second set depending on the turn out of this set. For now, sticking with Isaac, Venus and Eliza.

Guys, do any of you have experience with Touhou? I see Utsuho from Touhou listed in character references for Annie and I didn't really get what was going on with her.

(Touhou 11, 12.3, 12.5) Long raven-dark brown hair. Wears a white short-sleeved shirt with a red "eye" in the center, a short green skirt, and a green hair-ribbon. On her right arm, she wears a device known as the "Third Leg", which appears to regulate the power of the devices on her legs (aka a control rod, though it has been referenced as an arm cannon by many fans and is used as one in Hisoutensoku). She wears a cape that's white on the outside and a starry pattern on the inside; the cape is kept aloft by her black wings. Her right foot is encased in congealed matter, representing the "elephant's foot" of Chernobyl -her Leg of Fission. Her left foot is being orbited by atoms - her Leg of Fusion.
Is she Japan's Phoenix? That looks like Japan's Phoenix. I want less of Platinum and More of this to go with my Sol Guts dish pls.
I won't stand for this impure Peacock fanart. Perfection should not be brought down that way.
Glad I'm not the only one.

Very nice Palette. I hope we see something like this down the road for her.

The ideas for Beowulf's intro got me thinking. It would be nice if an announcer appeared to announce him, some crowd noise and intro music... and then he comes from the opposite side you'd expect and whacks his opponent with the chair from behind (no damage), then they both get ready for the fight.

Mario with Tanuki suit.

I think I'm probably done with palettes since I have exams for the next month. I had a Mario palette for Umbrella that /sgg/ requested and I never posted here, along with a Spongebob and Scooby Doo set. Here's everything (it's kinda big).

EDIT: I should probably explain some of the colour choices. Mario is using a wooden hammer. Luigi is using his mansion vacuum. Princess Peach is using her Super Princess Peach umbrella. Molly doubles as the mystery machine.

I'm pretty sure the Annie supporters will just flock to the next child.

Nope. I'm actually on Annie completely. My other 3 are Molly, Aeon, and Hubrecht, in that order.

And i'm actually hoping that a guy wins the next vote. Hopefully being Beowulf since I like him more than Isaac/Panzerfaust.

My top 4 prediction: Annie, Beowulf, Eliza and Venus. But we'll see.

His description mentions something not "not illegal if there's no referee", so I wouln't expect an announcer.

As for palettes for him, Garou age Terry Bogard?

I like Aeon, Sansom.. .. Its not like I want annie to be in the cast 'cause she is a child. I just like the kid-badass with magical powers thing. Plus I like her design

Squigly is one of my favourite designs in the entire lot of characters so I'm glad she got an automatic in and didn't go through the voting gauntlet. Don't know how far she would've gotten otherwise.

i would've voted for panzerfaust over big band, but since we have a big dude in the roster now my interests have shifted over to beowulf for male inclusions.

My god. The Scooby Doo palette is genius. Nice work sir.

What bothers me a lot is that on average the women have far more unconventional (and as a result more interesting) gameplay mechanics than the men.

Squigly would've been top tier just for her gameplay alone.

The most obvious thing is that she has a galactic motif going on with her cape:

Character-wise she wields the power of nuclear fusion and at one point wanted to incinerate the surface world, so take that as you will.

I'm curious as to how exactly her galactic themes would be incorporated into her moveset.

I wouldn't say that. Counting only the current 16, there's only one mechanically standard character in each team (Stanley and Annie). All the other characters have at least one stand-out mechanic.

Edit: actually Venus and Umbrella seem pretty vanilla. And I forgot about Stanley's underground diving mechanic and possible jetpack. So yeah, I actually think the opposite of your statement is true; the male cast of the top 16 is much more unconventional than the female cast.

Conventional women
Umbrella
Marie (she has an unconventional power but it seems very lackluster)
Black D
Annie (her style is unconventional, her techniques aren't)
Hive
Regina
Scythana (this could be in the wrong spot)
Venus

Unconventional
Mrs. Victoria
D. Violet
Ileum
Feng
Beatrix
Eliza
Minette
Molley
Roxy
Aeon

Conventional Male
Stanley (Mortal Kombat cast and MvC Iron Man says hi)
Andy
Hubrecht (like Annie his style is unconventional)
Ottomo
Yu Wan
Panzerfaust

Unconventional Male
Leduc
Brain Drain
Taliesin
Beowulf
Isaac
Adam

Looking it over I'll have to take my statement back. It actually is quite even when you separate each gender and look at it from a proportional perspective.

There are just a lot more women (and little girls) to choose from than men.

Not sure how either Beowulf or Adam qualify as unconventional (unless it's by the standard of being more ordinary compared to everyone around them).

Bwolf- first character in a tag game who can't be called without proper stage positioning.
The chair is very much like a bunch of static props that alters your sense of space in other games, but it offers far more utility and is permanent.

Adam - Might be in the wrong place but that's unclear. Just in the ratio 1 match up alone he fundamentally changes the game where he has a bunch of assist options.
The more unconventional aspect is how he dynamically changes from relying on two frontmen with mediocre skills to a single powerhouse with more options.

Panzerfaust - Is very conventional. He's a high armor character with a bunch of rekas.

If one small detail in the overall system makes a character unique then everyone is unique?

I'm not altogether familiar with fighting game concepts or archetypes, so forgive me if I'm being presumptuous, but I think Panzerfaust's two-stage punch mechanic is pretty unique as far as fighter characters go. I haven't seen anything like it in the fighting games I'm familiar with, at least.

You are right about every skullgirls character being unique. However..is opinion post on his part. Much like the beowulf deserves to stay in street fighter rants... because he's the same as every other grappler ever, etc...

People are allowed to like a hypothetical mechanic as a reasoning for liking a character.

This is a term for a three hit special move that originated from Fei Longs Rekka-Ken's in Street Fighter 2. Since then many other characters have Rekka-esque moves such as Abel in Street Fighter 4 and Kyo and Iori in King of Fighters.

Multihits specials with a mandatory type of prerequisite hit are very old. Ms. Fortune also uses rekkas. Her's are just bloody and disgusting. Panzerfaust is going to be louder and flashier.

Reducing Panzerfausts grenade/missile punches to simple Rekkas is a bit drastic, eh?

Yeah, I looked up her background, game appearances and music a while ago. This excites me even more. I want the explosions, radiating star energy and jaw cracking sword swipes over magical girl stuff(moderation here).

I dig the fanart. Sagan can't be comfortable at all there.
