PSVita firmware update 2.10 to add folders, and in browser video streaming

Post this here as well

So my vita downloaded the 2.10 update via ps plus, this morning while plugged in, I went to update, took a dump during the progress screen, and now it won't turn on. Black screen, blue ps button lit.

Any suggestions?

I did wash my hands afterwards

Recovery Menu?
Press the PS button, Power button and Right Shoulder Button at the same time and hold for couple of seconds.

Completely missing the point of folders. The limit is still 100 games. I am not buying a single Vita game until they increase the limit. Tough shit, Sony.

Why would I use folders if it doesn't increase the game quantity?! I have already deleted a game too many. I didn't even redeem the free games for Vita anniversary bullshit because I see no reason to.

Look, I get that the 100 limit is stupid. But if you already have a Vita, it seems rather pointless to boycott all games. It's not like your message will be heard, and 100 limit seems like its not affecting you yet.

Looks a lot better on the Vita's screen.

Ok

After a bit of fiddling with the browser I manager to build a website that plays a video!

Turns out video tag does indeed work but it doesn't have any default controls. So it need to get played by a script.

If plex media server creators add an autoplay script after clicking a video or a play button, plex media server could work with Vita.

How can you have 100 Vita games already? I have a 32GB card and have to keep deleting games due to memory space, not the 100 game limit.

Well.. yeah, but I always leave a game in and the icon was never there before the 2.10 update. Like I said, I know it's a small thing, but I was wondering if anyone else had tried to remove it. I looked through the settings this morning before I left for work but didn't find anything.

No way to remove it AFAIK. Sorry

Am I crazy for wanting to swipe between folders instead of touching the arrow, then touching another folder? I guess that would be the same as swiping between pages just like before.

Anyone figure out how to save the icon layout to the mem card? I thought the feature was added, but went from my JP to my US PSN and the bubbles still reset. :(

The new bubbles are a bit on the ugly side, but it's pretty nice to have all of my games and whatnot on the same page. I do realize I have way too many digital games installed.

I can see the limit being an issue down the line as the library for the system grows. At this point though, it shouldn't be much of a problem unless you're loaded up with Minis or PSOne Classics. It is an issue that needs to be addressed and fixed and I do find it concerning (I have 64 installed at the moment), it's that at the moment it's pretty had to hit the limit and it's not that big of an issue (imho) since you can easily swap out games or download them later.

Didn't know about this. I thought the only way to get there was to hold down the power button for 30+ seconds. Or am I thinking of something else?

Mine did basically the same thing, expect that the "PS" logo was also on the screen when the Vita froze. You have to boot into the recovery menu (hold Power button + PS button + R trigger for 10+ seconds) and then select option #1.

Sounds like the initial restart after the update is causing quite a few Vita's to lock up, but I haven't heard anything about people's units actually bricking. I bet it sure is scaring a lot of people, though.

when this happens to me I just hold the POWER button for 30+ seconds.. then it boots me into the Recovery menu..

This would be perfect, except the fact that deleting games also delete save files. Can I back it up on PS3? Maybe. Is it a hassle? Definitely is.

Still surprised why Sony didn't just adapt Android for Vita... Oh well, Save me Cerny for the future is looking good!

Oh and yes, my PSVita is indeed full. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=508709

Not sure specifically why, but I've only encountered the save issue with a very limited amount of games. I've been able to remove some games without any loss of save info at all. I'll double check to make sure on my end later today.

As for backups, I've just dropped mine on my PC instead of trying to transfer to the PS3. Never had much of an issue, but it can be slow with larger backups.

I know I was scared last night, but after restarting it was fine. Now I love my Vita even more.

OK this is weird:
2 PSN accounts (NA & EU) and 2 cards.
NA backup to computer -> system format -> switching cards.
EU account up -> some layount changes -> EU backup to computer.
EU format -> switching cards -> restore NA backup = LAYOUT SAVED
NA format -> switching cards -> restore EU backup = LAYOUT SAVED

I'm reposting it again, because it's a working method to get the layout saved.
2 accounts and 2 memory cards.
I just did that 4th time today, and it still saves my folders on both accounts.

Thank you for this! You just saved my vita!

Posted this in the Guacamelee OT:

So, I bought this last night on my Vita with the intention of playing today at work, and now I can't even start it; the game locks up the Vita immediately before even getting to any title screens or anything! What's the deal? I'm not on wifi here so I don't know if there was a late night patch I missed or something. Anyone else having this problem?

I'm guessing this FW update is the problem?

Still saddened that we can't stream pr0n to our Vita's yet, tsk tsk Sony. I'll be organizing my stuff into folders later today though, going to aim for having one home screen :)

I never understood why folders are such a big deal. I like having my themed pages. To each their own. :P

I was running out of pages to theme. I had two pages with non-game stuff. Two pages for cart based Vita games, two for digital Vita games, Two for PSP games, one for PS1 games, one for Minis/Mobile games.

With folders, I can condense all of the non-game stuff to one page and then better theme the remaining pages based on what games I have downloaded.

Vita has enough problems selling software as it is without being a completely open platform.

Only problem is backing up and restoring full accounts suuuuuuuucks.
Especially when you have a near full 32gb card.
