Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | April 2013 | Sacrifice your Independent Soul

Neptunia PP screenshots are in the wild.

Any chance of this coming over or is it an import shoe-in?

You'd probably be better off importing:

Doesn't scream localization material.

true, but there is still a decent chance nisA gives it a shot given how well the neptunia games sell for them.

Some may already know this (and perhaps disagree), but I switched up the control scheme on Sonic Racing Transformed from the default settings and it's soooo much better. The vita shoulder buttons just aren't as responsive as they need to be for constant throttle (unless you've bought a grip or something), so it significantly improved my experience. So, yeah...just sharing.

That last FW update brought me and my Vita closer together, it fixed two of the main issues I had with the OS, that being lack folders and no cart logo/identifier in the task bar, just need that 64gb memory card now.

Also I love the bubbles, saw a few people hating on them in the FW 2.10 update thread but I think Sony did a great of differentiating themselves from the competition.

Anyway looking forward to getting into Virtues Last Reward thanks to Playstation Plus.

The store is all fuckity for me. Many times I try to download something and it will stay stuck on the "preparing to download..." navy blue popup screen forever. Canceling will then freeze the system and I can only power down and restart.

'cept you constantly have to let go of the throttle to do a trick on the RS :(

Oh, and Cloudberry Kingdom is coming

For once an indie game on vita that I won't buy. Looks very difficult and I just stink at platforming games.
Hope it works out for the devs. Infies are really flocking to vita. We'll see if the vita owners are really that dedicated in buying indie games.

So I'm in a bit of bind here guys:
I have EU Retail Uncharted GA, and Asia Retail Gravity Rush.
I also have both games digitally thanks to US Plus as well.
Now I've had a 32 GB since I got the Vita but it doesn't have enough space most of the time for Uncharted (3-4 GB) and GR digital in it.
However, I expect 64 GB and maybe 128 GB cards to be announced this year. So should I keep the retail versions or sell them off?
On the one hand if I play the retail versions, they wouldn't take much space leaving it open for other digital titles.
On the other I'd get some trade in money...

Nah I'll prob. keep the retails, thanks for helping me out in this decision GAF!

I'm probably late with this one...

Secondly, we are happy to announce that we have just begun work on a new game for the Playstation Vita. I’m very grateful to Shahid Ahmad at Sony for the opportunity; he’s a man on a mission to bring a ton of indie talent to the Vita and we’re fortunate enough to have been invited to the party. And cheers to Gary Liddon from Ruffian, who gently nudged us in the direction of this exciting opportunity.

19 years ago saw the release of one of the best games Llamasoft ever made, a game which came to be recognised as one of the best games on an entire system – Tempest 2000 on the Atari Jaguar. I’ve often thought that one day I would like to revisit that game and do some kind of an updated version on modern hardware.

We’ve had a couple of cracks at it before, it’s true, but neither of them quite managed to achieve the same level of greatness as the original. T3K for the Nuon was in its own way remarkable, given that it was built using shader-like techniques (doing significant per-pixel computations) before shaders even existed, in software, on a 54 MHz CPU. But that game never achieved its full potential given that the NUON chip that it ran on only ever had very limited distribution, and the resolution and framerate were never quite what I hoped they would be.

Then there was Space Giraffe on the X360 and PC – still in my opinion one of the best things we’ve ever made, and a game that pushed boundaries by making sensory overload an integral part of the game’s difficulty. For those players that got what we were trying to do, SG could be an almost transcendental experience, and those people who love it REALLY love it. In that I still feel that we succeeded admirably. But I also have to admit that the game was divisive; some people didn’t like the complete immersion in eyeball-searing psychedelia and the gameplay modifications that made it not quite the pure shooty T2K upgrade that the initial look of the game seemed to promise.

In considering what we could do on the Vita I was thinking about the various things we’ve done with Gridrunner over the years. Super Gridrunner on the ST and Amiga, Gridrunner++ on PocketPC, Gridrunner Revolution on the PC – all good games without a doubt, each more complex than the next. But the best version? I think that’s the recent iOS (and now Android) version. To make that I went back to the core design of the game, and made a new version in that same spirit – modern enough to be satisfying to today’s players, but true to the design of the original game.

And so that brings us to our new project – TxK on the Playstation Vita.

We’re going to base it on the essence of the original T2K. It’ll be the pure, straightforward shooter that maybe you hoped for when you first saw Space Giraffe. We’re not going to overload you with ultra psychedelia, but we will make it fluid and colourful and awesome-looking on the Vita’s delicious, vibrant OLED screen. We’re going to give you a perfect treat for your eyes, ears and thumbs with a modern extrapolation of one of the best shooters ever made on hardware that’s just perfectly suited for it, and in a way that retains the purity of the original design.

It’s going to be *awesome* :) .

Thanks again to Shahid and his team for making this happen and getting us all set up and ready to rock so smoothly. Looks like we’ve got a busy summer ahead but it’s totally going to be so worth it.

We also plan on doing a bit of a development blog as we go along, so watch out for that. I’ll link it up when we make the first entry.

Question about storage data on PS Vita

Are all the data stored in memory card on PS Vita?
I need to know this because I'm going to switch my PS Vita with a friend's and I don't know to lose anything.

So, if I take you my memory card from my PS Vita, that system will be empty untill I put in another memory card (my friend's).

Is it correct?
Thanks.

Yes, all save files are saved in the memory card or game card, depending on the game. You will still have icons on the Vita even after removing your memory card, but these icons contain no save files.

Has anyone expressed excitement for the Frobisher Says Mega Fun Pack DLC? I am expressing excitement. Lots of it.

Nice. About time. Guess I'll have to redownload on Tuesday and finally get my 100%.

I couldn't figure out a lot of the mini-games in it. And the camera ones just didn't work, period.

Those camera ones are a BITCH... you need great lighting for it to pick anything up. If your lighting is even average it will be dim and unusable. At least they added a "skip this game" and you can turn off the ones that require the camera as well.

I platinumed the game and freed myself from its updating shackles.

But did you platinum it TWICE?

Just attempted to place a folder within a folder. This is apparently not possible.

Well, if you're allowed to put folders in folders, that means you could have folders within folders most likely. Infinite icons? We wish.

Even if they limited to 1 sub-folder, you would then have the ability to do 1,000,000 icons.

Considering they didn't up the icon limit... yeah, of course it doesn't work. ;)

Hey it took them a year to work out how to give us folders. Can't expect too much. Baby steps :P

Well, it's funny that he tried and QA actually caught it and prevented it... with the way these developers write code sometimes... could've been bricked or at least crashed. ;)
