Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | April 2013 | Sacrifice your Independent Soul

Yeah, just practice. I've put several hours into it at this point and I'm still working on S-ranking songs in Star mixing on medium difficulty.

I can get S+ in 'Son of Sun' at that level, but 'Bamboo' still crushes me.

I'm pretty positive the game takes some sort of special pleasure in making my hands cramp up. I have the same problem I did with ddr, where I can keep the beat on faster songs and I get lost and tend to fail slower ones. Although with this game I am also struggling to figure out how to hold the fucking vita while playing. For now backtouch notes are turned off because I have enough to try and concentrate on. I'm enjoying the heck out of it but it is definitely a challenge.

How do people find the patience to go for so many platinums? I don't have one but might go for Guacamelee's.
I dunno. It just makes me feel like I've overcome a large feat when I get one, you know? And it's fun to collect them. I have a high tolerance for collecting, grinding and farming so it's fine for me.

LEGO Thundercats Chima: Laval's Journey looks ... well you have eyes:

Lego game for Vita being shitty super lazy 3DS port - more news at 11.

THREEHUNDREDNINETYFOUR HOURS LEFT.

*screams and runs in a circle*

Use trophy guides to minimize the amount of redundant gameplay time. Also for grinding I tend to do it while catching up on TV series. Hyperdimension Neptunia just got me though the 3rd season of The Walking Dead and the 7th season of Dexter.

I just listen to the podcasts my boyfriend is always listening to with him (so much Kevin Smith during Nier) or to Howard Stern, whatever he's listening to at the time. :P

So I'm going to be reviewing Dragon Fantasy Book I later, but there are some things I need to review. I haven't kept up with this game at all, but with that small price tag, I can't help but be interested now. I've heard it's an homage to 8-bit RPG's of old. Are there any specific RPG's I should look into before plunging into Dragon Fantasy?
Not overly familiar with the game, but from what I can see it's probably most directly influenced by Dragon Warrior for the NES. Though I would expect there's also elements of other influential 8 bit RPGs like Phantasy Star and the original Final Fantasy games in there.

I have been addicted to Persona 3. Just bought Guacamelee, Sonic racing and P4G as well. ugghhh. I don't know how I am going to finish this. I still want to play tales of graces f and bioshock infinite on the PS3.

Just in case you didn't know; difficulty does not affect ranking or timing windows, only score and health(which if you're S-ranking easy songs does not matter, so Hard is preferable). IIRC the multiplier is 0.8\1.0\1.2 for easy\medium\hard respectively.

It will vary greatly based on how you play, if you're not using the back touch I guess playing with the Vita on a desk somewhat secured would be far better than holding it. Playing with backtouch I cleared all the charts using only thumbs and one middle finger for the backtouch, but there's no way I can do well on the hardest charts doing that. Doubles in either edge of the screen particular screw me up because I have to lift either hand away from my grip. The good part is that every time you pick it up again your muscle memory will have improved, and you'll usually do better than at the end of your last play session. Even just playing 20 minutes a day will help immensely.

Ahh Soul Sacrifice, of course. I'd kinda forgotten it was coming out. Looking forward to that one (it'll probably get thrown into the backlog).

Dat marketing.
Typical SCEA/SCEE marketing. Hopefully the demo makes more people aware that the game is coming out soon, although that didn't help Sly Cooper much.

Says a lot when even Vitabros forget that a game is coming out, haha. I knew it was coming out soon but i had honestly no idea when. Infact i still have no idea what the release date is.
PS Blog EU and Amazon UK are showing different release dates, so we don't either. >.>

Got a star wars itch. Thinking about getting the PSP Battlefront II game for my vita. Thoughts?
It's got some missing levels from the console/PC version and it looks a bit like arse now (it was a very early PSP game) but it plays really well with dual sticks. I play it quite a bit and it's just as fun as the console versions without PSP's control limitations.

No single player campaign like the console versions, though. Just good for a quick battle every now and then.

I've been counting down the days myself lol. Haven't been able to play a MonHun game in years (not since my son cracked the screen of my PSP); the itch that needs to be scratched is strong. Won't need another game till summer!

...Or I should say won't be able to afford one till then, lol. Gonna be moving in a couple months; I promised myself that Soul Sacrifice would be the last game I buy until then. I only need to spend $20 too since I got $30 from the promo last month (Already bought Guacamelee and the DLC for Sound Shapes I was missing.

To be honest it's not usually my sort of game, but i loved the Japanese demo and i need to treat myself to something! Earning a nice bit of money now that i've got a job and i think i deserve a treat to cheer myself up after all the shit i've had in the last year or so >.<

Not my kind of game either. I'll try the demo though, maybe it will change my mind like it did yours.

Last night, I saw the game CHASM here on Kickstarter where they say about a PS Vita version: "We're not sure yet. We're focusing on PC as our primary platform, but are interested in bringing it to anything with a d-pad. Some of these platforms are closed, and we just haven't met the right people yet!".

Well, I send a message via Twitter to Shahid Kamal Ahmad, THE guy who is bringing all indie love to Vita and he said: "that looks SICK. I want it".

After that, he put this message: "Hey @DiscordGames @RoboDodd guys, Chasm looks great. I work for Biz Dev at PlayStation. Hit me up on Skype!"

So... let's hope!!!

Oh... other thing, according to Gematsu, it's possible that .hack series have a remake for PS Vita.

Quote from CyberConnect2 CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama:

Asked about potential PlayStation remakes, said: ”There is a lot of desire for a PS Vita remake or for HD remakes on PS3 or PS4 of the .hack series".

Haha, I love Shahid. He's been doing great work.

That game does look really cool. So it's (kind of) a Metroidvania? I definitely need more on my Vita after Guacamelee.

Aaah yeah forgot about that game

I... uh...

Indie games are good in small doses, but I wish we had more retail announcements. What was the last game announced for the Vita by a western developer?

Pleeeeeaase let this happen. It'd be cool if we can communicate with other players through the game's message board instead of it just being NPCs talking to each other. If it does happen though, I think having 4 separate releases (or 3 if they were to do GU) would be pretty inexcusable.

Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate. Can't remember the last one before then though. Doesn't happen a lot. Although, then again, there hasn't really been that many big game announcements for any existing platforms for awhile.

I wish they would do a cross buy/cross play

.hack thats like pso2 and or monster hunter it would be amazing

Edit: do we know if the ss demo will have multiplayer?

I completely forgot about Batman (3DS port :/), but what about before that? The only thing I can think of is Tearaway.

We don't know it's a 3DS port yet.

Also, Invizimals was announced last week.

What was the last game announced for any console? lol. Not really the time of year when new games are announced. E3 is less than 2 months away

Epic Mickey 2.

But that's a port.... of Epic Mickey 2.

EDIT: Before that? Errrm, Lego Chima DS port seen on the last page, I guess?

I guess I just don't pay attention to announcements I don't care about. @_@
