I could definitely see this being true.

Just like I could see a Type-0 HD Vita/PS3 release selling more than LR.

It's a simple instance of a game people want versus one they largely do not. The stretch is in thinking LR will outsell this. For whatever reason.

Yup, and probably the investment in both of those titles (Type-0 HD and FF X HD) would be much smaller than in LR altogether, so even profit margins are higher. I wonder what sort of expecation SE will have for SE going by the Metacritic score (which is sure to be in the low 70s).

Every time I see this thread bumped, I keep thinking there are new screenshots or information. Argh.

The title screen music for X-2 better be Wind Crest.

me too I think it is more news, we might get a bit more news this week or this month, and they a lot more next month... I hope. :)

I hope its before september, August would be pushing it, but i wouldnt be in school then since my semester starts in September so that's fine.

I hope it's November because I still need to play KH 1.5 HD and Lightning Returns.

It's kind of pointless they redo some content, there will be eyesores in the game regardless, making a few things even higher quality will just make it appear even more jarring and inconsistent, no?

Unless they're fixing things that stick out too. Like the balls in the beginning and other such objects.

Square have said they want this to be the best HD release ever. I think they are looking at everything. I'm looking forward to seeing more of it

Uh... I must be missing something. Are there other HD Remasters that look better than what FFX has shown visually so far?

What remasters look better?

I guess we indeed need final gameplay footage to really judge but the best ones currently they would be going against would be KH HD and GoW2 HD I think?

I haven't seen Okami HD yet but apparently that one is one of the best ones too?

Halo Anniversary
God of War Origins
God of War Collection
Okami HD
Ico Collection

just off the top of my head

The Halo Anniversary edition I feel like is a bit cheating though. That's not so much of a remaster but more of a complete graphical overhaul that was overlayed over the original game. Not really a remaster.

As for the GoW games, I've played them and while the transitions to HD are really nicely done, it's just a less jaggy and cleaner looking game. For FFXHD, from what we've seen, there are model overhauls and everything. Not only that but judging by what we've seen, the CG stuff and pre-rendered cutscenes will also be remastered, unlike GoW.

It sounds like you're saying they remastered Halo, they just did a better job.

I'm saying that it doesn't fall under the same classification because it's not a remaster. It's simply a graphical overlay that is running on top of the original game. However, this is essentially arguing what counts as a remaster. If that's what it is then I can see how others view the Halo Anniversary as a HD remaster. I personally would not classify it as such.

Halo Anniversary
God of War Origins
God of War Collection
Okami HD
Ico Collection

just off the top of my head

- God of War Collection had terrible CG. IIRC, they were very blurry.
- Ico Collection looked nice and the 30 fps benefited SotC, but I didn't see any major graphical overhauls (I know a few textures changed).
- Okami HD is nice for sure.

I think we need see more of the gameplay (walking around a town and fightning) in FFX|X-2 HD before saying it doesn't look as fantastic, especially the pre-rendered areas and the CG cutscenes.

I'd probably say the SE ones and Okami are potentially the best looking HD remasters, especially KH 1.5 HD because it includes brand new content (for us) + remastered music.

If that DLC rumor is true I can see this happening on Vita:

Final Fantasy X - $29.99
Final Fantasy X-2 - $29.99

With the International content included, on PS3 it would be $10 for each game.

Okay, fair enough. You tripped me up seeing as how SE intends to do basically the same thing: Redo all the visuals by hand without touching the gameplay. The only thing missing is the ability to switch back to the old look.

But it's a semantic argument. I haven't even played CE HD, haha.

fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck :(

When the Asia press release got translated to english, it stated:
Having Japanese voice with subtitle and menu in Traditional Chinese/English

But in the【Product Details】for "FINAL FANTASY® X/X-2 HD Remaster” Traditional Chinese version", at "Language" > "Subtitle" they mentionned "Traditional Chinese" only.

I was all hyped up thinking an Asian version with Japanese audio and menu/subs in english was still possible, so fired up an email inquiring about the inconsistency between the 3rd paragraph in the Press release description and the info under【Product Details】.

Today I got the answer, there will be no such version with Japanese audio and english text/menus. (which majorly SUCKS COX.)

They also modified the Press release's 3rd paragraph which now reads:
Having Japanese voice with subtitle and menu in Traditional Chinese in “FINAL FANTASY® X/X-2 HD Remaster” Traditional Chinese version, and English voice with subtitle and menu in English in “FINAL FANTASY® X/X-2 HD Remaster” English version

That's it, and I'm super disappointed.

When I saw the original press release for Asian territories, I never saw anything about English Subs in the Asian version using Google Translate.

Also, Duckroll translated that release for us already and so we already knew that

Look at the plants in the comparison shot (http://i.imgur.com/B4azC4w.jpg). They're definitely remodeling much more than just characters.

But yeah, the blitzball always stuck out to me in the PS2 version. They didn't give it enough polygons, so it looked more like a 20-sided die.
