Newsletters have looked pretty sketchy since forever. The real sketchy part is that they link to this unknown guys upload of the 1 minute clip.

Does Daft Punk or SNL have an official upload of that clip yet? That might be the reason why. Daft Punk themselves had that random guy's cochella clip cut into the latest collaborator video so everyone may just be winging it with what they've got.

This is some serious fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants marketing right here.

This is amazing hahaha

Prog and disco have never openly begged for their own hybrid, but the genres' newborn Frankenbaby is alive, whether we like it or not. Still, this beast, however grotesque, is relatively harmless-- rather than running amok in the village and snapping the necks of civilians, it only wants to "celebrate and dance so free, one more time." Just don't let it sing.

Daft Punk record two songs for new Kanye West album

Daft Punk have worked on tracks for Kanye West's next album, it has been confirmed.

The French duo, who previewed new song 'Get Lucky' at Coachella festival in California this weekend, revealed in Rolling Stone that they have made two songs with Kanye and that the rapper was "screaming primally" on his vocal takes. "It was very raw: he was rapping – kind of screaming primally, actually," Thomas Bangalter told the US magazine with Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo adding. "Kanye doesn’t give a fuck. He’s a good friend."

Film director Michel Gondry also said that he has heard two songs from the Kanye West and Daft Punk sessions, saying: "One of them, I told him it sounded solid and powerful – I envisioned a cube when I heard it. He told me, Chris Cunningham’s already directing the video!"

Kanye West previously claimed that he would release new music "in a couple of months" during a gig in March. "I wanna tell y'all that I'm working on some new shit," he told the crowd at his show at Zénith in Paris last night. "It's gonna be out in a couple of months."

Meanwhile, Daft Punk are gearing up to release their new album 'Random Access Memories' in May. The album will feature collaborations with Pharrell Williams, Nile Rogers, Julian Casablancas, Chilly Gonzalez, Panda Bear and Giorgio Moroder.

Can't wait to hear those. Also Kanye + Chris Cunningham video.

Pharrell's Collaborators video is out :)

Episode 4

Wow! The music that plays during the credits which has all the pieces we've heard combined, the vocals, the drum beat with the digitized voice, and the guitar riff, sounds fucking incredible! Now that I've heard it all together the song sounds perfect, just an instant classic. I can't wait to hear the whole album.

It's Pitchfork, you shouldn't be surprised. I just don't get music critics, it's like they're in an entirely different stratosphere of snobism (is that even a word?). I can only recall a handful of music reviews I didn't find shit, even if I agree with the score (or general tone).
Early Pitchfork was much snobbier. I think they've mellowed out a bit recently

I already posted this but I like reading it again. I'm betting this next Kanye album is going to be on another level.

Kim K. putting in work.

Can't we just get something in the middle?

To be honest I don't even quite get the point of music reviews in an age where you can just check out an album via Spotify (in many countries).

We should yeh, but then reviews shouldn't be just about whether something is good enough to buy or not. Criticism in all its various forms is an art, and a great review is a great piece of writing and can be appreciated as such. We can all make our mind up without them, but we can't all write them. Or at least, we shouldn't have to.

Pitchfork is what would happen if video game reviews used a full scale and reviewers only liked to play Japanese visual novels.

If the review was well written it wouldn't matter, because the score would be justified. Maybe it's a product of its time and made more sense as a whole in 2001, I don't know. The score is off anyway, I'd give Discovery a 7.5.

Holy shit, there are so many golden quotes from Pharrel in that video.

That ending bit... I want this album really, really bad.

UPDATED "Get Lucky" to include Pharrel's recent snippet

Just a rough edit. Will see if I can polish it alter tonight after classes.

I don't know how hard it would be, but I think it would be cool if you could somehow create the snippet from the video recording of the trailer.

The breakdown part when the collaborators intro comes up, the vocoder voice says

"We're up all night to get"
"We're up all night to get"
"We're up all night to get"

then transition into the normal

"We're up all night to get funky"
