Good news for SNES collectors as well. Those ridiculous second hand prices will take a tumble down to more reasonable levels now.
So...Mother 2 is the Earthbound that was released here...and Mother 1 is the one that's going to be released on Wii U?
Which one are we getting? Mother 2 or Mother 1?
Biggest announcement for Wii U is a ROM of a 19 year old game.
Didn't this game have a lot of copyright issues? Have they been solved?
Soooo you advocate piracy, then?LOL I was waiting for this.
250+ dollars for a 20 year old RPG that can be nabbed in minutes via emulation
L O fucking L bro(s)
I think Earthbound is really over rated but I'm excited for the fans to see a us release finally again
Except you don't actually get one.
Strange, I recall reading a website that showed many things that could have brought legal trouble if the game was re-released without any modifications. I can't access the site you posted from work, so I'll check it when I get home. There was some speculation that there were many, but recently an internal source revealed it was really just three. http://earthboundcentral.com/2012/07/earthbounds-specific-legal-issues/
It's going to be interesting to play this VC release and see if there's any actual changes or if Nintendo just decided to put out the original.

Earthbound.

It isn't really overrated. It's simply awesome.
This release is being overrated, though.
I mean, that's awesome, but where are the new games? (for Wii U)

So this is just the original game?
Am I supposed to be excited?
Nope. Im saying there's far more manageable and cheaper ways to obtain it. Hell, a used copy and a SNES would cost less than forking over whatever amount of money for a WiiU just to play one 16 bit RPG. I mean if you can afford it and need it that bad, then rock on and splurge. I myself could never justify spending close to 300 bucks for a game that is over 20 years old, no matter how "classic" it is.
NOA is acknowledging Mother, it's a landmark moment.
Okay, not really, but it's nice to see.
Except I do now (well, when I get a Wii U).
Well, Wii U purchase validated now. I cried throughout the second half of the announcement. I hope it's not altered.
Lol, no. Original Earthbound costs a leg, maybe even more.
Cried? really?
It wasn't a Nintendo Direct for the WiiU. It was centered about the Nintendo 3DS. So it is an nice small announcement.Pretty much sums it up. I can understand the hype and I'm glad to see it's happening, but wow lol.
To get people to buy a wii u probablyI second the original question. Why not Wii as well?
Maybe by 2015 if we're lucky. What are the chances that this comes out for 3DS Virtual Console too...?![]()
