Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | April 2013 | Sacrifice your Independent Soul

Shahid tweeted that there's a game coming to Vita that begins with the letter 'P'.

Presumably it's an already released indie title, but I'm drawing a blank.

I'll wager it won't be as big as the 3DS getting Puzzle and Dragons.

I appreciate what he's doing but the Vita definitely needs more substantial announcements.

Yeah I still really dislike SS Demo.

EU May update for Vita is kinda cool. Not sure if I'll like Velocity but I'd welcome a Horizontal Shooter (forgot it's name).

It's exam period so it's not like I'll be able to finish anything anyway.

Persona 5? ;)

Anyway, is it just me or did the keyboard get much better? I used to screw up a lot especially spaces, but now I almost never make mistakes anymore. Really feels a lot better!

Really appreciate the Indies but who's gonna buy a Vita just for them? Hopefully after Killzone, things start to pick up with more games like Golden Abyss etc.

I have a serious question. I see a lot of "Vita game dry spell" comments in every Vita related thread, so my question is: What types of games do you guys like to the point where you don't have anything to play? And bonus question: How much time do you have for gaming on a weekly basis?

I ask this, because I haven't been wanting for anything to play on the Vita since I bought it when it launched. Is it a "new game smell" thing? Where you all need new content on a regular basis or you get depressed?

Between Vita releases (still playing Persona 4, Stranger's Wrath; I've never played either, Machinarium, Retro City Rampage, Sly 4, Disgaea 3, MGS HD, and have yet to get Atelier Totori Plus, DOA5 Plus, Dokuro, Earth Defense Force, Sine Mora, and Zero Escape: VLR), I have a ton of PS1 and PSP titles I've never played/got very far in/beat to work my way through (don't worry, I won't list them, because it's too long).

I love new game releases too, but I just wonder what genres the rest of you like that you feel the Vita is lacking in. I'm a big action, adventure, and RPG fan, and I have plenty of those on my Vita. I don't particularly care if they're Vita specific, PS1, or PSP. The point is, I either haven't played them, or want to play them on the go. I'm playing Y's Seven, which I've never played before, and really loving that one, but I'm currently on a break.

Do you guys pace yourself when gaming, or just go all out and marathon a particular game until you beat it? I jump around a lot, but I also only have about 15-20 hours of free gaming time a week, depending on work schedule and plans with my wife.

I'm genuinely curious about this, since I see so much "I'm dusting off my Vita for >insert new release here<" comments that I imagine you all must be blasting through these games at breakneck speed to run out of things to play so fast.

Simulation Racing games or FPS from studios that are not garbage. How about a WRPG or current upgrades to sports games. Loved Uncharted and loved Gravity Rush. Had a ton of fun with Persona (already had PS2 version) and love going back to play PS1 classics.

Just want games like Skate that could use the sticks or maybe a new Souls game or Dmc. Something that is unique like Gravity Rush. Hell Yakuza on the go would be sweet or if we would have gotten ZOE. Vita is a great system if you like arcade racers or Jrpg titles. I love both but want more. Don't really care for most of the indie games coming out at all. Play my Vita all the time honestly.

Hey Guys, so I've always liked the way steam handles digital games, having them all listed on one page and differentiating between donwloaded and not downloaded games. Xbl and psn on the other hand don't have that but instead you would even have to look through download histories in order to get an overview of your purchased games.

Now you ask, what has that to do with the Vita? Well, I had an idea. Since my 32gb card is almost full and it's not possible to delete digital games without deleting the bubble, I had an idea. I don't need to have all games on my system at the same time, but I still want to have an overview of all my games, could I just sync a save file with ps+, then delete the game and sync the save file again, would that install a buble?

I'd love to know what idiot thought the search function in the store on the PS3 thought having the alphabet in column form that resets to "A" would help speed up the process.

WTF!?

they are stuff missing when using that stupid search function too iirc.

just use the webstore.

Webstore is the only way to go ever since the new PSN store. At least they haven't ruined the vita's, yet.

I actually like the search input method in the PS3 store. However, the store is so damn slow that I almost never do it via that method and once the "remote push" from web purchases works, I will likely never use the ps3 store again.

So after today's Nintendo Direct, we need a Vita Heaven baaaaadly...

New Zelda Bros 2
Yoshi 3
Add to that Fire Emblem/Pokemon x/y

I am on the edge of pulling the trigger on that
shitty
inferior plastic device..=[

I have one. I couldn't stand the new Luigi's Mansion after 15 minutes. The new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is ballz.

I never play the thing.

Nintendo producing a bunch of Mario games and a Zelda? How shocking. ;)

Btw, for EU people, Worms: Battle Islands (PSP) is on sale for £3.69 right now, down from £15.99 (wtf). It'll keep me busy until that sort of announced Vita Worms.

Yea we need more Monster Hunter Clone news.

Yeah that Nintendo Direct was beastly. I'm not very interested in the games, but there's no doubt that Nintendo is bringing it with the 3DS FAR more than Sony with the Vita. It seems as though Nintendo has new 3DS games announced every 2-3 months with these Nintendo Directs, but when was the last Sony title announced? Gamescom, if I'm remembering correctly. That's honestly sad. I love these indie titles that are coming and I welcome more, but they aren't going to be the thing that gets people to buy Vita in droves. They should be there, yes, as additives. Not as the only kind of lineup. It's annoying to see Sony put so little effort into the handheld, because when the Vita launched they brought it hard. They've never remotely lived up to that launched since then, and they likely never will. Many of the studios that worked on Vita games aren't even here anymore. How many studios does Sony have that work on Vita games now? Not many.

Thanks for answering! Yeah, I image that if you are into those genres, you'd be pretty starved on the Vita. Although, from my experience with PlayStation over the past 15+ years, they've always been heavy on action, adventure, and RPG titles.

We simply don't know about the status of titles like Yakuza, Souls, or DmC, which I'd also love to see on the platform. ZoE HD would have been great too. I'm not a sports, simulation, or racing fan, so the absence of some of those don't really hurt me personally.

When it comes to the indie stuff, I'm so/so on it. Some them, I'm totally looking forward to (like Terarria and Lone Survivor), others, I just don't care for (like Hotline Miami). I'm into the console type games, like Soul Sacrifice, Dragon's Crown, Killzone: Merc, Tearaway, Batman, etc, but I also love games like Super Stardust, Mutant Blobs Attack, and Montezuma Blitz.

I owned a PSP, but I missed out on a shit ton of titles, so I've been catching up on them over the past year in between Vita titles. Because of that, I just have so much to play. I play my Vita daily. I have a sizable Steam and PS3 library as well, but I don't have the time to play them. I have more time a week to game on the Vita, due to my commute to work. My pace through most games is pretty slow. I just recently beat Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation about a month or two ago, and that came out last October! I only managed to beat Guacamelee so fast because it's not a terribly long game, and I couldn't stop playing it, even playing it at work during slow periods.

Persona 4 is going to take me considerably longer, and I'll eventually get to Disgaea 3 and FF Tactics (I started Tactics years ago, on the PS1, and am now starting again from fresh on War of the Lions for PSP). I'm eager to try the Soul Sacrifice demo to see if it's my cup of tea, but I can wait for the store to update for that one.

The problem I have is trying to decide which games to play in my limited game time!

Any solid confirmation for FIFA 14 on Vita?

Pholklore.

Ugh, don't we wish. Now you got me imaging a new Folklore on the Vita. *cries in a corner*

Ninja Gaiden 4 Vita exclusive.
Devil May Cry 5 Vita Exclusive.
Metal Gear Jestream Vita Exclusive.
Zone of the Enders 3 Vita Exclusive.

Bam, saved.

Sounds like we have similar tastes, although I wouldn't have bought those two, I really don't care for endless revisions of Mario/Luigi. I think I would've only gotten Fire Emblem of the games out now. But whats tempting me is 3D Pokemon and Snes Zelda 2... Does the 3DS feel as
shitty
as it looks? I might need to wait for another redesign =\

What we need is Compile Heart heaven...

We're already getting Neptunia RPGs, so we need:

Neptunia 2D Platformer
Neptunia Golf
Neptunia Party
Neptunia Monster Hunter
Neptunia Roguelike
Nepgear's Mansion

Now we've fixed everything, right?

but when was the last Sony title announced? Gamescom, if I'm remembering correctly.
Invizimals: The Alliance, Epic Mickey 2 and Table Mini Golf, in the last 30 days or so.

My guess is Pid or Papa&Yo.

I've heard it feels night and day better. But I refuse to buy one until the next revision (and the release of some games I actually am interested in).

Yea we need more Monster Hunter Clone news.

Monster Hunter clone strategy/push on Vita just failed(see the sad SS and RO sales in Japan) I think publishers will not make anymore monhun clones on Vita(God Eater 2 to be the last one me think),it's clear that Japanese Vita owners don't really care about them and it make sense since these guys follow MH and most likely on 3DS now .

but will SCEJ even bother to do another Vita event? I highly doubt it because they seems to abandoned the hope completely on their handheld long ago(look at Japan Studio games they are all on PS3/PS4).

The 3DS is pretty much the most uncomfortable handheld form design I ever hold in my own hands. Still going to play the shit out of Fire Emblem though.

Link for the poor SS sales in japan?

I am convinced the US PSN team is made up of PR/Community Managers and one lone guy who actually handles updates, maintenance and content. This person is a drunk IT from some obscure college where he was the only student and him and professor just got drunk for four years. No one would hire him but his mom knew his cousin was an exec at Sony and made him hire the inept drunk. These delays are nothing more than him just not showing up passed out somewhere. For PS Plus US he just throws darts at a board with all the best games in the middle.

This is the only reasonable explaination I would accept for the last three years of this bullshit.
