Nintendo Direct Luigi special 2 2013.4.17 - 11 pm Japan Time (3 pm GMT, 10 am EDT)

What the hell do they have for E3 if they are announcing this now... !?

Well, they didn't announce anything for the 3DS last year either did they? Even their dedicated 3DS conference was just for showing footage of already announced games. Hell, they actively denied the existence of the rumoured new 3DS iteration at E3, and then announced the 3DS XL in a Nintendo Direct a couple of weeks after.

Look at it guys. It's magical.

I own both the Vita and a 3DS XL. And so far the 3DS is just dominating the Vita. And that's coming from someone who's more of a PlayStation family person. Though I love Nintendo, too and always have. I'm so excited that Bravely Default is coming and all those other games. And if I can play Earthbound on my Gamepad then wow.

I was pretty impressed with how 3DS games looked in the NA-ND in general today. Mario Golf and Mario Party, though two games I'm not interested in at all, both looks pretty great imo.

whats BDFF that everyone keeps mentioning? That it's a Nintendo direct related thing, right?

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy

General consensus so far seems to be that it's the first decent Final Fantasy game in years - but of course, without the Final Fantasy brand attached.

It can't be all about the Wii U, if so they must have a crapload to show.

An Earthbound VC release? A Link to the Past sequel for 3DS? Yoshi's Island 3DS? A Bravely Default localization? Hahaha, nice try Nintendo, I know an April Fo- Wait? It's not April 1st!? ...

*SQUEE!*

EDIT: My mistake, this is the right thread, changed it back.

Man, from these directs we got:

- Zelda WW remake
- Sequel to Zelda LTTP
-Two Yoshi games
- Release dates for Pikmin 3 And Bravery Default
- X
- Sin megami X Fire Emblem
- Mario Party 3DS
- Super Luigi U
- Mario Kart and 3D Mario "Announcments"
- Pokemon X&Y

Feel free to add to the list if you want. But I completely understand what you're saying. What more could there be for this year?

I think the big E3 showcases will be Mario Kart Wii U, 3D Mario, Smash Wii U/3DS, and possibly Retro's game.

I would also hope there would be some Japanese Wii U 3rd party stuff announced as well.

No Metroid, but SMT IV's box set, Bravely Default, and Earthbound will hold me off for now. LTTP2 was a nice surprise, but I'm not really all that impressed by what I saw. I'll wait and see.

Well yeah, the 3DS will undoubtedly have a heavy presence at E3, I just think they'll be showing more on the stuff they've already announced. I think presuming they're holding back more 3DS Megatons is just setting yourself up for disappointment when, as I say, they showed nothing new for the 3DS last year either.

just came home and watched the direct like a taped sports game. Went straight to the presentation not even checking gaf beforehand to get the "live experience".

So many 3DS bombs! And Earthbound!!!

Awesome direct delivered

Just got back from school to see all these announcements.

Wow is all I got to say. At least I will have a bunch more of games to play once I eventually beat Fire Emblem: Awakening and Kid Icarus: Uprising sometime in the near future.

I loved this Direct, and I can only imagine (hope) that this means they are holding back the big Wii U announcements for E3.

I'm deeply saddened that I didn't get any new information on X, though. Deeply. Deep down, where I'm soft like a woman.

So finally watched the Japanese Nintendo Direct, and after all that Iwata has done for Luigi, making 2013 the Year of Lugi, this is the thanks Luigi gives him.

Edit:
Actually that may be his index finger, but it still looks wrong. :lol

I feel like they've doomed themselves to making E3 a disappointment again to most. Zelda should have been saved.

I think if they already showed us all this, then they must have something bigger for E3. I mean we haven't heard about X again yet, or the WiiU Zelda.

If they do anything with those two at E3, it'll be a mention and maybe a repeat of the X trailer. Both of those seem pretty far away before they're ready. This E3 will be about more immediate stuff for the console.

I suppose, we'll probably get more Wind Waker HD info at the very least. I still wouldn't be against hearing more about X though, it feels like the sort of thing they'd save for E3 and I feel like it may be closer than we think.

Now all we need is word that Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland 3D and Dragon Quest VII: Remake are coming to North America, and I will finally be 100% satisfied.

I will be shocked if Wii U Zelda shows up. Aonuma said it would take some time to complete, and with WW HD and 3DS Zelda releasing this year, or very early next year, I imagine they won't talk about Wii U Zelda until at least E3 2014.

X is likely further along than people think, so there's a strong chance it will have presence at the conference, if only to keep it fresh in people's minds. I suspect we'll see the fruits of some third-party deals, too, such as Bayonetta 2 and maybe a few interesting indie titles.

Man, what a great direct. Zelda and Earthbound were both some of... those moments. The ideal of what hype is all about, the kinds of things I think of as wishful thinking. Mario and Luigi looks great too. Yoshi's Island I'll probably try out, but I never liked the SNES original too much, and hated the DS game a little. I wonder what they're thinking putthing that and Yarn Yoshi both out in similar time frames though... surely that isn't the best way to handle things...

E3 will probably be more Wii U focused. I know Reggie said the release pace would ramp up dramatically, but honestly I think they'll just talk about stuff we already know just a bit about. I remember either Iwata or Miyamoto made the contrast between E3 and Nintendo Direct by emphasizing that E3 let's people try out the games. That's what I believe they'll focus on. Hands on with Mario U, Mario Kart 8, Yarn Yoshi, WW, Pikmin 3 more, W101 more. X will be inexplicably absent. Smash Bros. will get a surprise trailer, even though only screens were promised.

Coming in here to evaluate my impressions:
-LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins (not in Japan)
-Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D Overview
-Mario and Donkey Kong eShop Info/Date
-New Super Luigi U Update (Coming Summer/Fall, prob $20-30)
-Wii U OS Update (Faster Load Times, VC beginning soon but not immediately)
-Mario Golf: World Tour Info/Date (July)

US/EU Exclusives
-Animal Crossing: New Leaf Info and Bundle
-More Fire Emblem DLC Quests Localized
-Layton vs. Ace Attorney Localization Announced
-Maybe Bravely Default Localization
-Guild-02 Announcement (sans Monsters Come Friday)
-More indie eShop titles announced for Q2/Q3 release
-Zelda Oracle games coming to VC very soon / More VC games

JPN Exclusives
-Layton 5 [Meant Ace Attorney] Info/Date
-Miku 2
-Yokai Watch
-Probably some more third party stuff I'm unaware of
-Pokemon Rumble Wii U Info
-Date for Pikmin 3 or W101

Considering all of the announcements on top of the above, this was a very solid Nintendo Direct. Oh, and I have a feeling that some of the areas we saw in the Zelda and Yoshi videos were beta areas as they replicated areas of their predecessors.

Overall, I'm pretty sure a Wii U direct won't be happening until either right before or after E3.

Mr. Iwata, you silly goose.

I can no longer resist the 3DS. I'm going to try and hold out for a chance at new colors, but I will pull the trigger when LTTP 2 is available. Such a great library, a never ending backlog.
