Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | April 2013 | Sacrifice your Independent Soul

Donwloaded soul sacrifice. Pleasantly surprised. Looks and feels extremely solid, and I like the more fluid gameplay style. Will probably get day 1

:/

just look at the ground.

but if you still don't see how awful the ground textures are then..well I'd recommend getting one of these

Well of course they aren't perfect, but when not staring directly at the ground I don't notice the lower res at all. And why would I stare directly at them for extended periods anyway.

Did you play the Zeboyd games? How does it compare?

I haven't played the Zeboyd games but judging by the screenshots of the Zeboyd games, this game is more like a homage more than a parody.

your magic hud in the lower screen and many things are on the grounds too..like enemies you want to save or sacrifice, you will have your eyes on the ground no matter what and it's unpleasantly ugly view.

if this was called "Look at the Sky 4:Modern Sighting " I'll give it a pass but sadly it's not.

Oh my goodness man. Quit focusing so much on the OCCASIONALLY blocky ground textures. I know you've mentioned the gameplay and have talked about it, but if you were to look at everything you've said about Soul Sacrifice, I guarantee a good 80% of it would be about the ground textures. Give it a break. Don't worry about it so much.

Haha, I sacrificed myself to Harpy way too early and when I entered ghost form I saw..30% hp left.

20 minutes or so later my AI allies actually killed it. Totally counts.

And I got 430 points Divine Sorcerer omg

The Soul Sacrifice demo isn't really clicking with me, sadly. I think I'm going to sit this one out for now. Back to MH I go... =\

It's crazy because I find Monster Hunter TERRIBLE. That's why I didn't really have any interest in Soul Sacrifice. Playing it now, though, I actually really like it. I'm so glad they came out with a demo.

Which is odd because I always thought they removed a vita/psp game when a new was taking it's place. Although I might be wrong :P.

I don't understand your post. NGS-Plus is a Vita game. Am I missing something?

His point was that if they remove a Vita game, they add a Vita game.
They removed a Vita game and added a PS3 game, by all accounts.
So the balance isn't active.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. SOUL SACRIFICE IS NOT A MONSTER HUNTER CLONE.
The similarity stops in that you can play it with a 'party" and it's a boss-rush type game.
Combat, which is the core component of any sort of game like this, is quicker and more varied than Monster Hunter to me.
At this rate, the souls games are Monster Hunter clones and we might as well try to shoe horn in Shadow of the Colossus, since the game is 16 different monster hunts.

There's a lesson here... and that's "Listen to Frost more often."
I may have crazy opinions, but I still know what's up. :P

The spell system just isn't my thing. I much prefer more melee-based, combo-string combat, which is why PSO2 better come out here.

SEGA,PSVita,the west..It's complicated.

but let's keep hoping for the best

Random, I know but...

Do you know what I'd do for 3D Dot Game Heroes on Vita...

Random.

well let see FromSoftware own the IP and the developer is swimming in Square-Enix cash cave.

so yeah..even body preforming the konami code in front of the great Game Emperor wont help you here.

For those looking to pre-order Soul Sacrifice digitally, check this out:

https://store.sonyentertainmentnetw...fice/cid=EP9000-PCSF00178_00-SOULSACDIGPREORD

It shows that you can pre-order the game on the SCEE Sony Entertainment Network store.

There's probably a strong chance that North Americans can pre-order the game digitally as well.

Looking forward to those Japanese voices!! :P

Wrong.

Just cause SCEE does something that makes sense and is beneficial to customers doesn't mean SCEA will.

In fact, I'd be willing to be this is another thing we'll have to bitch about regarding our region being managed by the mentally challenged Sony triplet.

If the page doesn't show up next Tuesday, pending we can get a regular update, we're not getting it. Which would fit with the "fuck up everything possible" MO for SCEA.

Y'know for a minute I forgot that FROM was responsible for that game.
I still can't fathom how the devs behind that game ended up giving us Demon's Souls and Dark Souls and it's sequel.

Fair point, my friend. Fair point, indeed.

Finally got my sly 4 downloaded and when I downloaded the cross save all the trophies I got on the PS3 version started poping. I wasn't aware that got both, thought it was shared trophies. Are all cross save retail games this way? The only other one I can think of is metal gear collection.

They had originally said it was one trophy set but when the game came out it had two. So yeah, Earn a trophy on one, get two trophies. Only game like that I believe (actually, MAYBE Sound Shapes? I can't remember for sure).

Cross-save?
Maybe.

Sound Shapes did it that way.
So did Motorstorm RC.
Guacamelee doesn't work that way because it shares a trophy list instead of having two separate.
Sony Smash is kind of cross-save, but it does NOT work like this at all.

I can't think of any other cross-buy/cross-save... maybe Stardrone? Haven't tried it though.

There probably won't be a preorder for Soul Sacrifice on the PlayStation Store in North America. It'll just be the typical 2 week purchase window.

Random, I know but...

Random.

It's not going to happen:

1) The game was published by From Software who've shown more interest in iOS/Android than Vita.
2) The game was developed by Silicon Studio, the company behind Bravely Default. I imagine they'll be quite busy working on sequels.
3) The game sold best in North America, which is likely Vita's weakest market.

Saving SS for tomorrow but have it downloaded - just been thinking how awesome psn is, and that by the end of spring it will be superb. I can almost live off psn games alone. 3 of these are actually not yet out/owned by me:

Went back from folders to a whole page for PSN games, it deserves it really.

Sorry to abuse the Vita PSN thread but I can't find any other thread suitable for this question.
Quick question, I'm thinking of buying Resident Evil darkside chronicles but since it's Capcom I'm a bit leery because. I've heard that with their psn games you need to be online and logged in with your psn account.

So my question is, does it work offline? Can someone test it for me please?

I guess the first game 1000 Spikes was a really well liked XBLIG game. This is the sequel. It was known to be coming to Wii U and 3DS but not Vita.

I'm in the same boat. I have a hard time getting into Monster Hunter, SS demo was pretty fun. The world is very interesting.

Senran Kagura and SS demo on the same day. I am pleased. Is it possible to get the preorder items by ordering the SS digital version?

Soul Sacrifice demo is amazing!
Game is so bought digitally.

I'm already obsessed with replaying missions and grinding out spells so I can boost them.

Silly question:
I know later on you can use the saved souls of the bosses as NPCs... but it seems if you go back and kill them to get the spells, it erases the previous result. Does that mean it's best to kill a boss the first time (and as many times as you want) before you decide to save him, since the game's text implies that once you overwrite it, you lose the NPC?

Only Bionic Commando Rearmed 2, and Final Fight: Double Impact use always-online on PSN.

Soul sacrifice really shows of the vita really well. Great online, smooth graphics and gameplay. Man, I am a convert. Just had a blast playing online coop with randoms. Got decimated the first round by Cerberus, but beat the second one with jack o lantern. Wasn't laggy at all despite the connections not being that great. Great demo.

Just finished the first chapter in the Soul Sacrifice demo.

I like the combat mechanics and the art style kinda reminds me of Dark Souls. I was originally un-hyped for the game but now I'm looking forward to buying it day one. Have more than enough money in my wallet anyway thanks to the March promo.

Is that really the case, though? Isn't like the best selling Vita game in Japan Persona 4? At like 250,000? And didn't AC:L sell 600,000 WW, but probably mostly NA/EU

I like that you have placeholders for your future games

DOA5+ or NLKS ,which one got more outrageous and expensive dlcs bullshit that is more offensive to the fans and supporters of the games than the other.

help me decide.

Japanese handheld games are designed to be profitable at the 100+k level. SS actaully has pretty good sales for a new ip. It is approx 200k retail copies sold now, and including digital, we can expect 220k to 230k copies sold.

Soul Sacrifice demo just finished downloading. It's too late for me to jump in tonight, but I'm definitely down for some GAF co-op tomorrow night if anyone is interested. If so, add me, my PSN name is the same as GAF.

Looks pretty awesome, I'm pumped for some more platforming after guacamelee, will probably go back to sound shapes and then maybe lbp. Love these games with replayability, wish all games would focus on it, makes it much more valuable imo, especially when it's a fun game - something I'd want to have a digital copy of since it's the only option. I'm pretty hesitant picking up one time playthrough psn titles, anyway pretty random.

I just put that for show after the screenshot but it would be quite neat you're right, might work it into the background with nicer icons!

I was having a look here for upcoming indie/psn titles and the site mentions 'Friend Network App – PS Vita' - hadn't heard of it, I'm guessing I'm late but IGN says this about it:

Friend Network is a unique social application for PS Vita that allows you to interact with friends and meet new people in a whole new way. Guided by PlayStation mascot mainstay Toro, the app lets PS Vita owners visualize their network of friends and gaming buddies through the use of avatars in a colorful environment, and through growing their friends list, players can grow their own unique town space within Friend Network. With the ultimate goal of reaching 100 friends within Friend Network, lobbies are available where players can meet new friends and exchange virtual "business cards." These cards contain information that players can use to get to know others within Friend Network.

Additionally, Friend Network comes fully integrated with your favorite social networks. Players can connect to their Twitter and Facebook accounts to see which friends are also participating in Friend Network and add them immediately. Players can also request tasks from their friends, like planting crops in their garden, to expand their town yard space.
