Well there are many reasons, the obvious one being he doesnt want to get caught, if he is caught you can bet good money they will have someone monitoring his activities all day every day, lets not forget they would love nothing more than to make an example out of this kid. Secondly theres the adrenaline, a car chase, grenades, death, the natural instinct is to flee.

The reasons i think he is dead, specifically suicide is the following:

a) Young Kid who got into far more than he realised
b) Ran over his own brother, very likely the person who convinced him to get into all this and he is truly now alone.
c) National printed news, his face literally everywhere, there is no "good" ending for him unless he is supremely lucky or takes matters into his own hands.

They had no idea if he was involved or not. When one suspect suddenly explodes after he was arrested/shot, you think they wouldn't take extreme precaution on everyone they collared? He was in the area where the suspects fled. Wrong place, wrong time.

I remember during the Dorner Saga, the first night he was spotted at Big Bear Lake, they had this World Class Army Sniper on CNN, and he was saying that Dorner is a fat, unathletic pig, and would be found within hours.

If an overweight, husky person like Dorner was able to elude authorities for nearly 3 days, I think it's plausible to see how this kid has been able to stay hidden so far.

Again, they thought they had both of them. They had 1 suspect injured and 1 on the ground at gunpoint for awhile. After getting that guy naked and secure, only then did they figure out he wasn't their suspect. This was also all before there was any link to the bombings for the people asking why there wasn't 1000 officers.

Yeah, this scanner channel has to be very low priority. Using it for officers checking out of the perimeter after an 18 hour shift, etc.

It's a huge failure on their part, but I'll be they're feeling a hell of a lot worse than anybody else right about now.

The FBI probably fucked up on this.

They should have expected that the guys would be on the run after showing their pictures to the world, so they must have been ready to send more forces after any suspicious activity.
