been away
took my news in elsewhere for the end of this.
the ustream radio scanner was solid up until the last 30 min when the suits shifted radio to secure channels.
gaf let me down. this site was rock solid during the day. it broke the news, the big news first. it was the beginning of news, but every time Gaf crashes, its unfortunate.
What does it take to keep Gaf up?
It shouldn't go down.

Hearing about immigration reform is making me think what. They were here for several years. Seems to me Russia knew something was up with big bro, I hope they don't bury that.

lmao

I think the older brother may have been the super radical one. But also a bit of a hypocrite like many religiously righteous tend to be... Since he seemed to enjoy partying and other aspects of Western life.

Do we even know this was for religious reasons? Couldn't it easily be because of the wish Chechnya independence? Not like terrorism for that would be anything new, although directed at the US and not Russia would.

His family that didnt help investigators need to be deported.. gah i don't really think that and I know that's extreme but fuck that makes me angry.
That is particularly insane, especially considering they were throwing bombs out of a car window during a chase like a fucking GTA game. Yeah, very innocent
Every criminal is somebody's son or daughter. The suspect's 19 years on this planet encompass quite a lot more than this single incident, no matter how serious it may be or the consequences that come out of it. I don't understand why people have a difficult time empathizing with or at least understanding this sort of sentiment of immediate family members in situations like these, especially when there isn't a clear and serious pattern of prior unlawful/dangerous behavior. It has to be a huge blow to them emotionally, and denial is a pretty typical initial defense mechanism.

I just want to call this: If these guys were working with 'the usual suspects' they would have had better equipment, wouldn't have tried to flee, and would never, ever have been in a situation where they could be taken alive once identified.

They would have had better ordnance, not this homemade shit, and would have blown themselves up and taken some cops or innocents with them.

The younger one reportedly requested more information from his Professor about Chechnya recently, so the latter could very well be the case.

It's incredible to think I experienced this from the very start to finish here on the thread, went to sleep for like 4 hours but the remaining time I was glued to the screen haha.
I'll never forget this, GAF!

I'm expecting a similar thing myself. These actions are random and don't fit their personalities that friends and family described.

Sad the elder brother leaves behind a wife and a 3yr old daughter.

I would bet this will turn out to be an account of a slow spiral into darkness instead of an inspired motivation to attack the public.

It sounds like otherwise normal people, especially the brother, became enticed with some 'cause' in their roots for some reason. Be it isolation, unhappiness with their position in society, or whatever else.

I bet it started with him going to radical sites, then moving on to radical ideas, then 'why not try a bomb?' and found it easy, and thought it would be just as easy to make the leap to attacking innocent people without being spotted.

Hats off to the Boston PD and FBI.
Let's not go nuts. The FBI talked to the older brother. Did nothing.
The Boston PD didn't find squat. It was a private citizen that found him. In fact they let him get away, then spent the day failing to find him after calling in thousands of officers and the National Guard. It was worse than the Blues Brothers movie.
I can't wait to see the taxpayer's bill for this little escapade.

Was just at a sport bar when this guy got caught. You'd be surprised how happy people are at the fact this asshole is going to enjoy a life of rape.

Chris Hayes's show just started on MSNBC. They'll be discussing the Miranda / Public Exception issue, after they summarize the events leading up to the capture.

Reborn. I've actually known people who were definitely going down the wrong path in life and then found religion. Some of them became even scarier with their zealotry. One addiction moved to the next.

Edit: Addiction isn't quite right. Some I knew never half assed anything. For a bit, they went full bore into alcohol, after that drugs, then religion. Not sure if that makes any sense to anyone.

It's extreme because you are deporting American Citizens. That's just plain illegal.

Haven't been following the family that closely to know that, the father didn't speak a lick of English so I just assumed they weren't planning on spending the rest of their lives here as citizens.

I don't condone breaking laws to deal with deluded parents. But boy howdy, I've never seen such denial.
