don't blame the indie developers. That's just fucking dumb.
True. That's why we are getting Soul Sacrifice, Tearaway, Killzone: Mercenary, and hopefully more.

That's the joke!seems fitting but exactly what thread warrants video games are fun as a post?
Sony abandoned Vita really really fast, treating it like nothing in E3 2012, not trying to moneyhat any IP or port big games even when developer asked (Boarderland/Gearbox and AB/Rovio),giving all focus to the 7 years old PS3 instead of Vita(I mean hell..even PSP IPs is now on PS3,just think about this for a sec)throwing two small spin off games for it in 2013,publishers see this and jump out from it.
That's the joke!
i'm trying to poke fun at the situation because i already got my money's worth out of this thing with many vita games and imports and psp/ps1 backlogs
Future is dark, and not sure if we're getting more AAA or Indie or Japanese or what titles, but I'll have fun with whatever comes.
Which one now?

This was a glorious post. I got heated, I'll admit. It just frustrates me to see people blame the influx of indie games for the lack of retail games. It like, if you don't mind these indie games, then that must mean you don't care that there's not more retail games. The two categories don't have to be mutually exclusive in what we want.
True. That's why we are getting Soul Sacrifice, Tearaway, Killzone: Mercenary, and hopefully more.
Muramasa and Dragon's Crown? Those three are kind of scattered. We have nothing to fill the Summer void but a Jak and Daxter collection, which is very "meh". Last year we had Resistance and Gravity Rush.
Invizimals, it's a PSP's IP that sold millions on PSP, now here is the big joke from SCE, poor Vita get a small AR VS arena only type of game while PS3 get a full featured game.

I will just say that I don't mind indie games on the system..hell I really enjoy having them on it. But I also need some bigger titles. I'm guessing sony's plan is to reveal 1-2 new games during E3/GC/TGS for next year and leave it at that. (Basically what happened last year..I mean what's the last first party exclusive revealed for the system? Tearaway from last gamescom right?)
It's disheartening and to be perfectly honest, saddening too. It's such a wonderful product but even sony themselves don't appear to have any faith in it...they sure are not showing it at the moment. And sales reflect this
And I might get some heat for this since he is popular...but I'm starting to really get annoyed with Yoshida. You can smile and play to the crowd (so to speak) but at the end of the day he is doing an absolute shit job in backing the vita. I know he is not the only one but he is one of the biggest executives in charge of games in Sony. He can preach all day about having games planned for years to come or how they are 100% behind the vita...at the end of the day actions speak louder than words. He is no different than Reggie really...just says less stupid shit and Reggie isn't in a position to influence game development as much as Yoshida is
IDEALLY Sony will make secondory studios within ALL their big first party studios. A third handheld team within ND, A handheld team in SSM (screw helping others and make your own damn new IPs for the system), Handheld team in Evolution studios etc. They will also bring existing IPs like Jak, Heavenly Sword, Dark Cloud etc and keep them exclusive to vita...But who am I kidding..not gonna happen.
Sorry for the rant and going a bit Toto here..I'm just tired of sony treating the vita like a after thought.
I agree with this. Having the great indie titles on the go is a very very good thing. It's not something to hate on for sure
Whole heartedly agree. I say it's do or die for Vita if nothing big is announced for Vita at E3. One or two game announcements isn't going to make it worth wild even if its Persona 5 or GT6. If I was Sony, I'll actually have a event before E3 just for Vita announcements since E3 is going to be bombarded with PS4 and 720 demos and announcements.
Probably some indie game... Can we just get some AAA 3rd party game please. That Adam Boyes guy is a failure.. he doesn't deserve his job
The only Vita-related news I remember from last year's Sony E3 conference was the PSASBR Vita announcement. Was there even anything else?Yep..at the end of the day I guess it can't be any worse than the last E3 for vita..what a joke that was.

It'd be nice to have some sports games. Even if they were iOS ports, at least it'd be something.I'm not sure what you'd expect from Adam Boyes. He works for SCEA third party relations. What major American franchises are missing on Vita? Fallout/Elder Scrolls? Even if Vita was selling well Bethesda would still turn a blind eye. Borderlands? I wouldn't give Randy Pitchford any money. Bioshock? Okay.
AC3L leaked before the conference, but I suspect it was meant to be a big surprise. There was vita-related news at last E3 0_0 ? I truly don't remember any tbh.

wtf. We just got table mini golfIt'd be nice to have some sports games. Even if they were iOS ports, at least it'd be something.
If they were smart big games like Killzone or Uncharted would appear in the summer.
A. They would not get in the way of fall console titles.
B. They would give people stuff to play in summer when most are on vacation or out of school. That would be true to (console on the go)
Thats cool people are loving the indie games. For me I could care less. Hope Sony shows some pride one day and stands behind this machine. Hell just get us the apps they announced at last years E3 lol. Vita is such an awesome system just want to see it pushed hard.
Thinking about it, 2K really holds most of the cards: Grand Theft Auto (yes, I know this is developed in the UK), NBA 2K, WWE 2K, Red Dead ___, Borderlands, and Bioshock ...
The fuck? The Vita one is the same kind of game as the previous installments, while the PS3 one is a spinoff developed by an entirely different studio.
Yeah, poor Vita got the game that looks like a direct sequel to the PSP games, while the glorious PS3 got something completely and utterly different.

I hate to put down a company I love in favor of another, but Nintendo could have handled the Vita far better. They know how to focus on two platforms simultaneously and release game after game after game throughout each year. They don't save 2-3 big games for the holiday season when most people are buying AAA titles and this year, new consoles.
I can't help but be glad that it wasn't by Nintendo, though. Sony could do much better than they have, sure, but it definitely wouldn't have had such deep online functionality and OS features if Nintendo had made it. Also wouldn't have had nearly as good hardware.
The only Vita-related news I remember from last year's Sony E3 conference was the PSASBR Vita announcement. Was there even anything else?
I'm saying if HYPOTHETICALLY, Nintendo made the Vita the exact way it is today; Somewhat expensive hardware, deeply integrated OS and all. For starters, memory would definitely be cheaper or just be the SD format.

We saw the first screen of the name of the cod game for vita! was an emotional and happy moment for gamers across the globe
That and the AC:L trailer. They did showcase games like Sound Shapes before the event..and also showed a trailer for Soul Sacrifice after the event. Some brilliant fucking management right there...Jack T ftw
I still remember one of the execs of sony (I think it was Yoshida) saying later that the lack of presence of the vita was due to poor planning from the PR/HR team who handled the event. I mean god forbid Jack and Yoshida and the rest take responsibility for the most important gaming event in the US for the whole year!
edit: Just to add some positivity to all my negativity, Soul Sacrifice is awesome! Fun gameplay, very tactical and an amazing lore to boot. InaFunky delivers!
All dis meta talk, isn't this why the last threads had to be closed anyway?

Right, how could I have forgotten.wtf. We just got table mini golf

Playing the Soul Sacrfice demo a lot, and that sure is console quality to me, as will Killzone and Tearaway be as well.
Uncharted, Gravity Rush, Wipeout, AssCreed. Last time I checked those are all "Console Quality" to me, and hey you know what? It used to be a game like Dragon's Crown or Disgaea would be "Console Quality" too, as would Guacamelee or Ys. I also really fail to see how creating a stronger digital marketplace and sales with quality games like Binding of Issac and Terraria or Spelunky are negatives for the future. And in hindsight, giving port money to Gearbox may have been a good call looking at their OVERALL track record outside of Borderlands and its art syle-theft shenanigans, following the Aliens affair they probably would've just siphoned the funds off elsewhere had they gotten them, making efforts to have good relations with Disney, one of the largest media conglomerates in the world, is a pretty good trade off to me.
the thing about Invizimals that it needed to be more like Digimon and Pokemon and this something the fans were saying for long time,it needed more meat, now the more is on PS3 and the bones and same as the old for Vita, but it's not only that, this is Sony telling Invizimals fans to buy PS3 and the PS3 version instead because it has everything the Vita version get (VS mode in PS3)and more.
and why SCE think it's very smart for PS3 to get PSP IPs and get them as mainline and "bigger than ever" yet Vita cant get the Sony consoles ones (and when do they are small spinoff)?
Why is that important when the relationship has yet to pay dividends? Disney's make or break game (Infinity) isn't on Vita nor does it have any exclusive to PlayStation content.
Good point. It's very bad that Infinity is not on Vita. Skylanders too (although we don't know 100% on that one since the next one hasn't been announced, we can easily assume it won't be there).
