Since when did the double stars for eShop retail titles end? I only got 250 for Fire Emblem![]()
I haven't bought it on the eshop (yet), but I swear that the Fire Emblem page had the '2x stars' logo on it when I last looked.

What a scam. It says x2 stars on the eShop (checked an hour ago).Since when did the double stars for eShop retail titles end? I only got 250 for Fire Emblem![]()
16,675 stars since registration. Never even held 8,000. This expiration thing is a joke.
They don't even send emails warning that my stars are expiring anymore. I won't be surprised if I find out I lost some in march.
Buncha crooks.![]()
Just ordered a SNES Wii Controller, but I don't have a Wii anymore. I don't know what I'll do with it.
Keep it sealed as a collectable, sell it, or use it as an excuse to get a Wii/Wii-U.

Same thing happened to me with Ocarina of Time (-50% sale). I complained and they corrected it quickly. What a scam. It says x2 stars on the eShop (checked an hour ago).
Take a picture and still get ignored and told you're wrong by NOE's wonderful customer services.
Well with the stuff available in the Stars Catalogue, Nintendo are basically doing that already.Sony or Microsoft don't reward their loyal customers in a similar way, and thus don't get complaints. Then maybe that's the way to go?
Oh wow i noticed now that downloading free (freemium too) software from the WiiU Shop grants you the same 50 Starpoints as the normal eShop games.
This must he an error or just incompetence on Nintendos side?
Lovely how everyone on here is complaining lately about Nintendo handing out free stuff. Sony or Microsoft don't reward their loyal customers in a similar way, and thus don't get complaints. Then maybe that's the way to go?
It's lovely how for Nintendo a large portion of Europe doesn't even exist.
They only have Club Nintendo to compel people to buy more stuff, not because they want to reward a specific portion of their loyal costumers. ''Buy our overpriced digital versions, you get double the stars!!... and we get way more profit. Also, pray your 3DS doesn't get stolen because you will spend 4 months dealing with our incompetent costumer service and even then we won't completely restore your account. Go, go digital future!''

Edit: I now have 500 stars for Fire Emblem.
New problem - it's says I have a survey to take when I log on to Club Nintendo, I click to take and it goes to the My Registered Games & Systems page. Wtf?!
I press the link to Take The Survey and it takes me to My Registered Games and Systems and not to any survey. You still have to claim the stars from there. There should be a link to the survey.

Even if it's FREE stuff, Nintendo benefits from giving it out because to register games you have to buy a NEW copy of the game (unless someone forgot to redeem the code) and in the specified period of time, which is, admittedly, quite lengthy. CN is also avenue to market research. Nintendo profits way more from CN than the costumers, so to expect some free stuff is a given.Well, personally I don't buy stuff from them just to get a hold of whatever they have in their Stars Catalogue. But since you seem to feel like people actually do that, I guess it's just me.
To me it's just an extra perk you get if you happen to buy a lot of their games.
I find it strange how people seem to feel like they're entitled to "more valuable" free stuff because they bought (a lot of) Nintendo games. It's FREE stuff.
Or complain about overpriced digital versions? Really? Sony's (and probably Microsoft's, I don't own an XBOX) pricing in their digital stores is just as bad. (And yeah, I know of the existence of PS+, but that is basically a rental system, and I don't like to rent stuff. Plus you don't get to pick your own games.)
Is it fair that Club Nintendo is available in only a select number of Euro countries? No, it isn't. I agree with you on that.

Ultimately, it's Nintendo's fault if people complain about CN. They set it up and then dropped the ball. If they had no intention of actually rewarding their loyal costumers, they never should have set it up in the first place.
Just because Sony and Microsoft are bad, it doesn't mean NoE couldn't be better, especially when NoA and NCL have stated improving. For example, NCL has started pricing digital versions slightly cheaper than the MSRP of retail versions, though you can still find physical versions for less because retailers don't usually price at MSRP. Similarily, NoA has dropped the price of the eShop version of Lego City 3DS to 29,99$ to at least match its retail counterpart. NoA also put up Tetris Axis (an old retail tittle, 29,99$) for 9,99$. The least NoE could do is lower the price of digital versions to match actual retail prices.
And PSN+ is not just a rental system, they also offer (small) discounts.
If you're not into renting games, the discounts you get would never make up for what the membership costs. So people who subscribe are mainly there for the rental aspect imo. It's a rental system with some extra perks.
And you know, about the marketing part you're referring to: Steam is doing that all the time through various means and I never hear anyone ever complain about them not being "paid with free stuff" by Steam. And do you think Sony or Microsoft don't know who you are when you log onto their network to score some in game trophies or to rent movies or do whatever? Do you think they don't track that? As I said: because Nintendo offer free physical stuff, all of a sudden people start to feel entitled for whatever reason to all kinds of valuable goodies. It's just a perk. Do they benefit from the Club Nintendo system? Sure. Nothing in life is ever really free. But they don't benefit more than any other company and I don't see why they should pay you with more or more valuable free goodies for cooperating with their research. Nobody forces you to take part in those surveys. Nobody forces you to register your games for stars. If you don't like the pay off, then just stay away from Club Nintendo. It's simple, really.
And regarding the fact that you have to have a new copy of the game to be able to register it. Well, they don't like the 2nd hand market. They're not alone in that department. I heard some big console company is considering bringing an new console on the market that doesn't allow you to use 2nd hand games on it...
The discounts range from 0.5€ to 2,6€, a yearly subscription is 50€, though I'm sure you could find it cheaper. If you are big on digital, the subscription could pay for itself or at least come really close.
I don't use Steam, so i can't really comment on that, but I guess people don't complain about it because Valve never established ''Club Steam''. If they did and the rewards were bad, I'm sure people would complain. Same with Microsoft and Sony. Actually, Microsoft recently gifted 30MP on people's birthdays and I don't remember anyone praising Microsoft for that, only complaints. The point is that if you offer rewards, they better be adequate or you should never offer them to begin with, because cancelling a reward program makes you look even worse.
The surveys in CN are not simply about tracking data, they also ask you (dis)liked, if you recommended the game (or if you will), why would you recommend it, if you bought the system for it, the price it should be sold at...
And you can't just ignore it, because NCL and NoA are doing a better job, so you know NoE could and should do it too. So I will continue complaining and accumulating stars and hopefully one day the Stars Catalogue will improve. Lately Nintendo has been quite receptive (50/60Hz deal, Earthbound), so sooner or later a change is bound to happen.
Well yes, they don't like the second hand market, so they usea carrot on a stickCN to get you to buy new (or digital) and benefit greatly in the process.
I ordered the Snes controller about a month ago, still nothing. Takes so bloody long for stuff to arrive.
i have over 8000 stars there notting to buy when will nintendo let me turn these into wii u points
tho i waitng to see if nintendo put majora mask on 3ds cas the minute i buy it they announce it for 3ds lol
Thanks. I just assumed it was another website bug. I didn't realise all the stars for eShop purchases were backdateable so just filled in over 20 surveys!Yes, but in the list of your Registered Games there are links below the game names to claim stars for each of the games you can still take a survey for. Or at least there should be.
Starpoints are rewards for buying Nintendo stuff and not something they give out for free.
But if they changed their politics on that matter, then what you say sounds plausible to me.
As you wish, keep complaining.Only wanted to point out that I think people feel entitled to stuff way too soon and way too strongly.
Also regarding the track record of the different regional Nintendo's, I think NoE is the only one getting some praise lately about the localisation of "typical Japanese games". So we're not served really all that bad by them as compared to NoA or NCL.
Finally I should maybe add this: apparently it's not even NoE that decides whatever appears in the Stars Catalogue. I remember reading not too long ago that it's the Japanese headquarters that decide what is sent out to the regional offices. Which makes perfect sense given how most Japanese companies are structured.
So to confirm: you DO get 500 stars for Fire Emblem.
But can anybody answer how many for the £8.99 Resident Evil: Mercenaries?
A good day in starsville - I've gone from 2,000 to 3,950!
I've gotten only 250 from FE, but it was from the pre-installed copy on the Special Edition 3DS XL.
In the meanwhile, I got to 7000 stars...SNES controller you're finally mine!
I haven't got a spare code sorry, but have you downloaded all possible free software. 50 stars for each one. If you're only a bit away this could help.I have a stars code for Ghost Recon 3DS left, because I already registered the game previously. I really need juuuust a few more stars to buy something or I'll lose a whole bunch, so if anyone would be willing to trade: let me know.

Rayman came out today so I'm guessing that's another 50 starrer.

I don't know whether to get the Mario Galaxy sound track or save up for the Mario character figure. Does anyone have it and can comment on size and build quality?
I would have loved one of those Mario kart trophies : (
