I disagree with the idea that making an example of people doesn't work. It's definitely not 100% but it's still very effective and when it comes to shit like this society should do whatever it can to prevent it from happening again. Guantanamo is internationally notorious and exists for terrorists. It's where this guy belongs as long as G-mo is still open, imo.

You can definitely see something wrong on the side of his neck, some sort of long line like a scar. Throat looks fine. Possibly a scar at the junction of his throat and jaw, not sure.
Surgery scar perhaps?

I'm still not clear on what they were doing at MIT that night? I heard from somewhere (no idea how true this is) that they were planning on placing bombs there too. Obviously they were prepared for a confrontation since they had all kinds of ammo on them.
No I was not kidding, thanks for asking. If he were to die it would make their 'job' a whole lot easier though. Living doesn't put an end to conspiracies but the hope is that details provided by him will fill in enough holes that there's less room for any conspiracies that are likely to be believed by many. If the opposite happens then it adds a barrel of fuel to the fire.
Beck, infowars and similar have to be among the most irritating sects on the planet, just beneath the WBC. I've seen this alex jones guy cornering people in interviews acting like the smuggest sob possible.
What really lights me up though is I have this co-worker always talking about theories from that site and he's going to have a new pile of bs to spew come monday.

It was probably to keep suspicions away. If he was absent all week it could have been considered suspect. Just as he let no hint out before, he didn't after either. He's also likely a sociopath, which would make that easier for him to do.
As for the MIT, it appears that they were carrying out their second attack. It just didn't work out.
Was it really confirm the New Bedford arrests were made in relation to this? Originally it was stated as such, but I never heard of it again.
I'm expecting people close to the older brother to be the most valuable for the investigation. His wife/girlfriend must have been interrogated too. We haven't heard about where they might have been making the devices.

Absolutely. Just as you say, think of the logic behind this: my PMC is behind this bombing, so while I'm watching on to see that everything goes according to plan, I'm going to wear clearly recognizable gear so that I'll leave a trail back to me.

There is no evidence supporting the notion that harsher sentences deter more crimes and there is a ton of research on the subject. People who commit crimes aren't rational actors who conduct cost-benefit analysis before making the decision to commit. They act impulsively, under the influence of drugs or alcohol and in most cases don't even expect to get caught. If they feel the chance of being caught is minimal, understandably the harshness of the sentence is fairly irrelevant even if they consider their decision carefully. Moreover, they do not de facto know what the punishments are and what's the actual risk of getting caught. You are right in that the US sets sentence lengths based on what they "feel" is appropriate, rather than based on the available research. Of course going just by deterrence research isn't a good idea either as the citizens have their own, rather arbitrary, notions of justice and if they feel the sentences are too low, they may lose trust in the system. Educating them about the topic may allow changing the system over time, but right now there is a culture of punishment, which isn't particularly receptive to information.

Have to end up wondering what these two people will end up saying when more info comes to light, and if Jahar ends up fully speaking out and confessing as his uncle wants him to.

Yeah, I think the evidence is insurmountable, but there's still some miniscule chance that it's just a huge misunderstanding and we've all ruined his life.
I really hope he does talk... the campaigns on twitter are horrendous. I always end up checking up on the conspiracy talk, but it never ceases to amaze me. Hopefully after he talks his friends will own up to their mistakes.
